What a day! ⁦⁦ @SarahBSmithVA ⁩ went into labour in the early hours & a healthy baby girl arrived at 4am. Home birth wasn’t planned, but we are immensely grateful to the superb ⁦NHS staff who arrived within 5mins. A month premature, but well timed to avoid the lockdown 👶

A former Business for Britain supporter has just sent me this email from @CouttsandCo (no, I'm not a customer), which contemplates the break-up of the EU 1/3

"With one year to go, the great prize is ahead of us. Free of the EU's rules, we can be equal partners and better friends, ready to help in times of need but free to strike our own path in the world, as a liberal, global and sovereign nation."

This is very true - I remember it well. And it wasn’t just a chat-up line 😉 Thank you for being there on the journey with me. X

On our first date in Washington DC in November 2012, Matthew told me, over two bottles of wine, that his next campaign was to take the UK out of the EU.

In England's forgotten 'rust belt', voters show little sign of Brexit regret, according to @GuyReuters . A must read for anyone who rarely ventures outside the M25

Having made the wrong call on MV3 (remember that? - see below), I’m looking forward to reading the detail of the new UK-EU trade deal. But early signs are very promising, especially on the ECJ. It looks like we truly have taken back control 1/3

Do take a moment to read ⁦ @sajidjavid ⁩’s statement on why he is backing ⁦ @BorisJohnson for PM⁩. “I believe Boris is better placed to to deliver what we need to do at this critical time. The first and foremost challenge is of course delivering Brexit” #BackBoris

Also worth reading the Leader, where the Sunday Telegraph concludes that the Electoral Commission is "incapable of reforming itself" and "should therefore be abolished, replaced by a body that can command the trust of the British public."

Delighted to hear @wdjstraw admit on @BBCr4today "we'd be worse off if we stay in". He'll now be locked away in same cupboard as Lord Rose..

Incidentally, I've been told that the DCMS select committee refused to publish AIQ's letter, so it's yet another example of a group of people conducting an "impartial investigation" but only listening to one side of the story... #DueProcess

I understand that the ERG has yet to make a final decision on their recommendation for how MPs should vote on Sir Graham Brady's amendment. I hope they support it, as I write in @CityAM today. Seems eminently sensible to me, and not incompatible with the #MalthouseCompromise
