Tried watching Maharaja. Wasn't an easy watching. Again we have a movie that uses abuse on women to hurt a man, prove a point or for vengeance. The by product of such movies, is a twisted sense of justice in the minds of men esp. they think they need to establish revenge more+

Most book clubs, reader's clubs (esp urban) in India have elite UC folk who don't think/want to engage in discussions of caste, class & gender. Should rename them as "exclusive clubs for problematic elite only, books are optional" clubs- for the amount of vile stuff they discuss.

The established norm that only horrific abuse against women gains some traction (at this point we are desensitised against such incidents even), must tell us where we are as a society. And hence movies like this cannot escape the lens of criticism as they reinforce ideas.

One of the reasons why the anti-caste discourse is still stuck at reservations - the privileged never accept it to be a problem. It doesn't affect them, so it's not a problem. It benefits them, so it's needed for their sustenance & maintaining the status quo. Ignorant & cunning.

A recent addition - millets were thought to be a staple in southern parts of India, rather than rice (jowar, ragi). Rice hence, was more common in rich/royal kitchens. Interesting to recall that tapioca was introduced to deal.with shortage in rice, for the poor to afford.

Met one of my schoolmates, at the nearby store. Most of my schoolmates came to Bangalore for their UG, some stayed here after college. This guy smhow identified me, thanks to the birthmark on my cheek, told me I went missing after school, asked abt life after school. +

"Puffs kodistini baa" (I'll get you puffs, come)- very effective method to end a fight. Overhearing my auto anna negotiating cutu fight with someone through the phone, guess things are solved now that puffs has entered the picture. 😭

@DrJemshid Or anyone who could write with some empathy and social responsibility would, imo. I don't think someone who might've gone through seeing a close person dealing with abuse & trauma could do the insensitive writing. Maybe writers need to come out of their need to think money.

Reminds me of the time when indu harikumar made a comic strip on what a 'manjummel girls' would look like. She was trolled by all them mallu fanboys for just saying this, even after she praised the movie. The industry, & the consumer base it has -the male audeince- both are alike

One doesn't always need close friends to share things. At times, most of the times, acquaintances or strangers provide much better company, esp with troubles. Keeping an open, curious mind without prejudices & moving with what's comfortable to one's situation works.

The current generation probably might be judged the most for using the ableist language. I catch myself thinking in those words a lot. I use words like 'lame', 'dumb', 'blind', 'mad', 'insane' - would also come across these usages by others everyday, multiple times. In speeches,+

Justtt got asked by the autorickshaw driver abt my caste. "Brahmanra neevu? Elli kelasa? Eshtu sambala?" (Are you a brahmin, where do you work? What's your salary?). This isn't the first time. Probably won't be the last unless I fake call someone while in the auto. 🥲

One outcome of having an inter community couple as parents is, nobody is enthusiastic about festivals at home🐈 & if neighbours bring good food, we eat them happily n discuss the ingredients n making. So it's only abt food when we feel like eating that, no rules abt the timing.

Was cleaning my documents folder, and I find this. A child I took care of made me this when I met them again, probably the only thing that makes me smile even when deeply frustrated. Thought I lost this, here it is 🥺❤️

My mom said she's proud of me -"I wished to see you be a gynaecologist. Thank you for being, the guppy gynaecologist. Everyday I see you carefully detect pregnant guppies from the tank, seperate them, monitor their health & take care post child birth". Idk if she's joking/serious

that denotes our caste. Mom's name shows she's a Christian but again, no surname. All three of us have father's name as the last. The audacity of this lady to ask me "surname ilva nimgella?"(don't y'all have surname?) made me ask "machine work madisakke beka adu?"(Do u need that+

Today recalled few incidents that happened in school, and later in life. Whenever I tried to upcycle something that didn't fit the the aesthetics, it recieved a lot of flak, was mocked or even banned. I remember tearing all the leftover pages, some 5-10 from every notebook+

masala dosa with tomato saaru was made. Dosa was opened to check for ginger chunks hidden in mashed potato. Culprit found. Thrown. Masala dosa dipped in tomato saaru, with some butter milk. Good lunch
