Also, he said his skating skills & PCS had reached more or less full marks back in 2015, & even though he’d improved since, the scores were coming down. He felt happier showing his performance to the audience who showed more appreciation, & not about winning/losing.

He hasn’t completely ruled out the next Olympics, he still feels he’d like to land a clean 4A and skate a clean program. He still wants to improve in his quest for the ultimate ‘Yuzuru Hanyu’. I’m so relieved that he’s looking ahead and looking calm✨✨✨

Yuzu has helped fill the holes numerous times in the past. Finlandia Trophy 2012, Helsinki Worlds 2017, Skate Canada 2019, ice shows... It’s something he’s been doing naturally since he was young and is not a stunt, as some cynical people have claimed recently.

During FaOI, he couldn’t practice 4A but now he is practicing it. He discovered new perspectives everyday during FaOI. He’s feeling excited & has a high expectation of himself now. At Beijing, he thought there was no more room for improvement but now he feels there are lots.

Living life as “Yuzuru Hanyu” has always been a heavy burden- wants to be perfect all the time & be a better self. He’ll continue feeling the pressure. There were times he’d be in tears/couldn’t eat after Beijing, so he feels it’s important to look after his emotional health.

Yuzu must have felt so elated & confident after landing the 4A when he sent the videos to Ghislain with the message, “Check this out”, only to get injured 2 days after that😭 The amount of frustration & stress he must have felt, so much so that it caused him to get esophagitis😭

He was acutely aware of the judges’ attitude to his FS. He changed the programs at 4CC 2020 to get a definitive answer & the scores led to a sense of resignation. My heart ached reading the final interview- now we know how he felt. So glad he turned pro; they can’t taint him now.

A Chinese Fanyu said that 2000 hats were sold because Yuzu wore it yesterday. The Chinese version of his book “Blue Flames” is out of stock due to growing demand and you have to order it. Hanyuconomy in China too😂

I spent all day in Ginza with a Fanyu friend💜 We first went to Maison Kose Ginza, marveled at the purple Origin 2.0 costume again, bought an Eye Glow Gem & had it engraved with “4A☆22.2.10” & then went to Mitsukoshi department store to see Yuzu’s skating boots on display ⛸

1:23 When I tucked my arms fully tight (during a 4A attempt in practice) I thought, “My ankle’s gone again.” I received many treatments this time & just about got the go-ahead to skate. But in my mind, I feel I jumped the best, the closest 4A. In that respect, I’m satisfied. 4/4

Nobu saying Yuzu’s jumps/spins/steps were so good he was pressing GOE+5 buttons for all of them in his mind. Although Yuzu said he’s hated by the ice, Nobu says Yuzu forces it to be his friend in the end, so it will be absolutely fine! I hope so too!!

I’m actually surprised they announced Yuzu’s participation this early. May be they received many requests over the phone or they’ve been looking at our tweets hoping for an early announcement before we applied for the ticket lottery. It also means Yuzu’s ankle is healing well☺️

Yuzu said the main objective today was to skate a clean SEIMEI, to show he’s better than before. He’s used to skating programs 3x in a row, all clean as well. So in a way, today’s practice was representative of his usual practice sessions. He was a bit too enthusiastic today.

Yuzu was very pleased with that performance, what he calls “a completed form”. He feels he’s finally overcome the trauma and now can move forward again. He said it would be nice if viewers felt that his performance gave them a little push to move forward, even for a second.
