To keep the trim and shape of their fros (timoweyne), Somali men used to sleep on an afro pillow known as barkin. Nomads bring it with them as any other necessity like the nomad in the first picture. He has his water bowl, hangool (wooden nomadic stick) and afro pillow with him.
