How it started vs how it ended.
Aw shucks, might as well reshare this one again. Promise I'll be workin on my environment real soon.
QRT with your own.
We all realize and recognize how extremely difficult it is to break into the industry, right? Even more than before now too, right?
I am really feeling for grads and undergrads. I hope something starts to give one of these days because good god.
Feeling rusty in Zbrush but I hope after getting more into the swing of things it'll get easier again. Been nervous getting back into this project. Lots of feelings of doubt but we press forward how we can.
Decided to post my progress on Handpainters Guild Monument challenge on here. I’ve honestly been so excited about my concept and how it’s come along and all the feedback I’ve received from everyone. Cannot wait to dive into more of the 3D soon.
I think I’m…back on my bs?!
Portfolio day, more than ever, is the awesome reminder of how many real human artists out there exist. If you're a studio or a recruiter, please remember this as opposed to looking into AI where you won't find nearly as much charm and actual creativity.
In my honest opinion, due to my upbringing: it’s okay to not rush into the industry right away post grad. It’s okay to find work to pay the bills to where you feel stable enough to work on your portfolio again in hopes of breaking into the industry. Especially in current times.
So many times I've just wanted to give up and walk away from pursuing my dreams of entering the industry but lately I feel optimistic. Perhaps it's no where near soon but I'm going to be patient and give myself grace as I teach myself a lot for environment art this year.
Does anyone genuinely get anything useful out of LinkedIn? I feel like it's a weird Facebook and that any connection that reaches out feels like spam or someone trying to sell me services or something tech-bro related.
I always find it funny when I was still starting out with 3D how people said you can't be both a 2D and 3D artist? Like, no you absolutely can. In fact...it turns out it was super useful to do both and I feel like both skillsets helps with translating shapes/design.
I finally did the froggo tutorial. Need to charge my dumb huion pens so I can have fun painting. It's so darn close to 3DCoat but not quite. Still having a blast with this little project while learning Blender.
If you don't rest, it's gonna lead to burnout. If you get burnout, and you're not actively trying to rest, you could end up disliking what it is you're pursuing (painting, modeling, etc.)
I say this from exp. I don't paint anymore for fun and no longer care to do character work.
I literally cannot believe the love that this piece has received this past week…sincerely, it means so much that people like my work. I’m really excited for the year ahead of the work I plan to do.
Jeff: It's been a big year for games this year....and it's also been...a BIG YEAR FOR MUPPETS HERE'S GONZOOOO
Thousands of game dev stare off in the distance.
At 26 I finally landed my first big kid career. I’m now 28 suddenly switching gears with a deep interest in prop and environment. I finally have a grip on my art which is cool and I’ve got goals of entering the industry one day. 🤷🏻♀️
I might be 40 by then but who cares.
A friend told me "you shouldn't quit your job. It was a big mistake that you chose to learn and become 3d gameplay animator. You're 29 and It's too late for you!"
It's not the first time someone tells me "iT's tOo LaTe".
I feel exhausted.
I GUESS I’ll participate. 😤🤷🏻♀️
I’m Milena. I ain’t at GDC but I’ve been contracting for

almost a year now?!
I like 3D environment and prop work and lots of colors. Handpainted textures are my jam.

I cannot stress enough how important it is to get work/life balance down before you graduate from college. College had this mindset. This mentality is what’s led me to multiple burnouts and leads me to so much sense of failure when I am not working enough. (1/2)
New ink!! It’s Ponyo💕!! I’m so happy how it turned out!! Illustrated by the incredible
@birdfrogdraws
and tattooed by the awesome
@johnnybhazard
(so happy we finally met!!!) 🎏✨🐠
I just love prop and environment art. Realizing this was a path I could take was the best thing to happen to me and I’m so glad I left character art as it truly didn’t make me happy.
Took a swing at sculpting
@Sarenhale
teapot from their fictional cooking game project they call 'Homecooked' prop concept sheet - linked below! Was so inspired by all the pieces.
It's been a super long time since I've sculpted and felt rusty but this was so fun.
Hi!
I won't be participating in portfolio day today, but please feel free to tweet yours here!
I'd love to RT as many as I can and boost your work. Y'all deserve to be seen.🫰
Hello hi. Here I am with an opinion 😌
It should never be that your self worth is tied to your socials.
I don’t think folks realize that’s not the issue here with this platform dying.
The issue here is loss of community, less discovering of opportunity, and promoting oneself
We're all just trying to do the best we can anymore, it feels.
I'm proud of you if no one else has said it today or recently. Make sure you're taking breaks and get a lil treat for yourself.
I’m gonna make a video game one day. Slowly. Even if I fail at it. I’m gonna do it. I’m gonna find the energy to get this and other pieces done. I got this.
😵💫
This is bad. I can’t stomach this…so many people displaced without a job. So many livelihoods ruined because of some greedy decisions made by higher ups. Makes me sick.
BREAKING: Microsoft is laying off 1,900 people in its gaming division, including Activision Blizzard, just three months after closing its $69 billion acquisition. Story coming shortly (first reported by The Verge)
Pipsqueak passed away today…he was 3 born on May 7, 2020.
I love you to the moon and back bub. I’m so sorry life was short. 💔
Thank you to everyone that loved him and was rooting for him to pull through.
Kinda want to find sculpt prompts again. These were so fun to do. Don't mind me sharin' old work, sorry I don't post all that often with art stuff these days.
I try not to care about the amount of folks that follow me but wow that's a lot of folks. Thank you for being a friend and liking my art. It makes my heart full.
Your progress will not be linear. Some days you’ll feel ahead with your skillset and other days it will feel like three steps back. Don’t be hard on yourself. With persistence and patience, you’ll get there.
old vs. new froggy sculpt and somehow a way better retopo on top of that ;v;
gonna finish this concept lil environment scene soon i swear
feels like my skills improved thanks to Sculptober
I can't even imagine the terror of being laid off while living somewhere, no where near friends or family for support, because of the forced RTO/Hybrid work.
Companies should be forced to help relocate workers displaced like this. It's just cruel otherwise.
@HelenaEHHansen
DUDE WHAT?!?! THAT IS SO MESSED UP!!
Sending so many hugs omg. I'm so sorry. You're so freaking talented and I hope you find something super quick!
Thankful for everyone that has reached out and checked in. Sincerely you’re all wonderful humans. ❤️
Gonna take some time to heal as the little dude was my whole world. Gonna miss everything about him.
Never posted the final result lol. This was a super fun/cute project. Hoping to keep up with little tutorials this week.
I think what I've enjoyed the most about Blender is the ease of rendering and viewing real time updates compared to Maya.
If it's one thing I've learned in life is there is no need to hold back on compliments. I always find it weird when people feel they can't just say something is good. It's good to make people feel good. Hype folks up.
It's upsetting to remember hearing how many individuals drinks were spiked at GDC...another reason I wouldn't feel comfortable attending that event if I'm being transparent. For those going, please be careful. For drinks not in bottles - make sure to buy covers for cups.
Finally sharing my cubes! 🤗 These were such a blast to make! Thank you to
@ashdoodles
for the feedback as well! 💖
This is for Creating Stylized Game Asset course for CGMA spring 2021.

It’s been disheartening how quickly uninterested I’ve become with my art or doing art.
How do you work on personal things when you have no motivation? My jobs not entirely inspiring but that’s why I wanted to do more personal work. An not to mention the worlds on fire.
3D Coat is the best for hand painting and Substance Painter is better for PBR. Everyone always told me going into SP that it was just like Photoshop when the UI is way more reminiscent in 3DC. IMO. 👀
It’s nice to feel a sense of belonging and that folks need your skillsets. I hadn’t felt like an artist for a while and I was willing to give it up but thankful for this contract work. It’s nice to regain some sense of myself.
Hi!
It’s me. I’m on and off on this account a lot.
Kind of just doing whatever since I can’t share new art these days. Working on a cool game while balancing a full time job is wild but so rewarding.
Since this site just keeps getting weird I just want to say thanks to everyone that made this a wonderful community for 3D/2D art.
Really without you this place wouldn’t matter. I’m so glad I’ve made so many great online connections and friends. You guys helped me so much.
Losing my cat and now I’ve learned my grandpa, my deda, passed away at 96. And I can’t be there in Serbia right now…
😞💔
Just a devastating 2024…heartbroken.
Taking my time anymore on things that matter most to me. I’m gonna learn environment art on my own pace and just take it easy. Feeling so clearheaded and it’s been so nice.
Not looking forward to look at places to move when I get back tho lol.

That moment when you found out your poster for
@2022Indy
is projecting your poster from 22 for 22 on the side of a building in Monument Circle in Indy all weekend!? THIS IS SO COOL!!
This is the future of art. Anyone can take a screenshot of your WIP and run it through an AI generator, post it before you & then claim you traced their work.
I'm gonna go scream into a pillow, bye.
I used to think turning 30 would be so scary but honestly my 20s were a nightmare. I wasn’t treating my mental health issues or taking care of my body or getting sleep due to my weird school journey.
31 now and honestly life’s been better.
I complain about this site a lot but if it wasn’t for Twitter I wouldn’t have met so many incredible artists/friends, an amazing art community, found my love for stylized env art in game dev, and opportunities I never thought would come my way.
I randomly helped save a kitten tonight with my partner?? The cat distribution system strikes again. We’re naming them Rock for now. I also scrapped my knee snagging the lil dude. wtf lol.
My gosh. I’m so thankful for the art community & the friends I have made on here. Truly appreciate everyone’s support, encouragement, & kindness.
Taking the time to beef up my skills this year & cannot wait to share progress down the road. 🥰
Happy Friday, y’all. ❤️
