If we were still doing the Thursday clap, this week I’d clap for school timetablers. They have gone above and beyond over the past few weeks with most doing several different timetables and models in hugely challenging circumstances. Problem solving at its best!

Huge lump in the throat talking to S6 today. I know how disappointed and anxious they are. We have made a promise that once we are through this we will have a Prom and a last day. This will shape the rest of their lives but we know they’ll rise to the challenge!

Loved the FM directly thanking young people today. I don’t think anyone would have expected the young people of Scotland to have coped so well with this. She’s right, they’ve been absolutely magnificent.

When we returned in August we thought it would be ‘normal’.It’s absolutely not,but Scotland’s young people rise and rise again.They turn up, they smile,they say ‘whatever makes us safe’and they work hard every day.These young people are so resilient, our future is in their hands.

There are many things we’ve missed in schools over the pandemic but the loss of assemblies has been significant for us all. You cannot underestimate the impact of a group of young people coming together once a week, sharing messages and developing a sense of community.

This was my Gran, Elizabeth Morrison.She became deaf at 12 after having scarlet fever.I cannot tell you what seeing Rose win Strictly would have meant to her. She started the first Hard of Hearing club in Ayr and supported people who lost their hearing all her life. @bbcstrictly

I am running 100k in Oct for @BreastCancerNow in memory of my mum whom I lost 20 years ago this year. 3.2k every day for a month - please let the wind drop a wee bit tomorrow 🙏

Senior leadership roles are defined by the people in your team and this was one of the best. 10 years since the Kyle inspection and years since we’ve been together. A few headships, a couple of retirements and about 6 dogs later - it was like we’d never left!

I remember the excitement of my first classroom. I spent hours hanging biology vocabulary from the ceiling, set off the alarm overnight and was told to get the word on the walls the next day! It’s such an exciting time as a new teacher, full of anticipation and hope- enjoy it!

Today’s learning as a HT. 76% of young people in Scotland under 25 charged with a violent offence have drank Buckfast wine in the hours before. My next learning is to work out why we still sell this in our country??
