Despicable behaviour.
Even for those that disagree with Chris (and I struggle to understand why anyone would), but what thought process must go through someone's mind to think this is a reasonable, proportionate, and acceptable response?
Barbaric cruelty to make a point..FFS!😡
@TranmereRovers
The big clubs have hoovered up the majority of young talent for their academies, hold massive playing squads, yet seemingly are not resourced to play FA Cup replays.
Meanwhile, they are happy to play lucrative friendlies abroad, & increased European competitions.
Go figure!
@Channel4News
@siobhankennedy4
They don't welcome being questioned logically, forensically, but with eloquent and reasonable persistence do they?
This wasn't speaking about hypotheticals - it was merely asking for a clarification of Trump's own statement.
Seems to me they do intend to commit war crimes.
Was feeling quite low this morning, with all the Tier3 Covid fallout and stuff, so took myself off for a walk to lift my spirits and clear my mind.
I know I probably bore folk on here with my snaps, but I find walking massively beneficial psychologically as well as physically 👍
@ChrisGPackham
@AnimalRising
I appreciate it's not the substantive issue here, but don't the police have to foot the bill for repairs to doors etc they break down, if no crime has been committed?
Was in Birkenhead earlier, so decided to have a little mooch round the Woodside area, where I used to work. The priory church tower overlooking Cammell Lairds always tests my fear of heights, especially on windy days. Lovely to see the mural of the Paul O'Grady progressing too!
Something different today - took train to Maghull for a walk back along the Leed & Liverpool canal.
Was gonna walk all the way into town, but came off at Marsh Lane, Bootle in the end as was feeling quite tired. Think I walked just under 10 miles in total.
@SoVeryBritish
Our 'uniform', back in the '70s, was a canvas haversack, covered in grafitti, with frayed side flaps and the top painted with the name of your favourite band - and defo only ever worn with 1 strap.
Some unfortunate kid turned up with a briefcase once - absolute bloodbath! 😬😱
Finished the final leg of the Leeds Liverpool canal today, from Bootle into the city centre.
Loved the flight of locks & the atmosphere along the dock road, from Everton's new stadium to Pier Head. So much potential in those fantastic old industrial buildings - gonna transform👍
@grahamlithgow
This is one of the most risible and yet alarming interviews you are ever likely to see.
See literally doesn't have a clue what she is talking about, and appears to be driven by no more than her own innate racism.
Is this seriously what the UK has come to?
@EstherMcVey1
Not everything is about you Esther, and that's why the people of Wirral West voted you out.
Even in your TV interview after that, your tone was about how it was a setback for you, rather than accepting your callous policies had been roundly rejected by the electorate.
Just putting the recycling bins out for tomorrow and the old lady from two doors down shouted me over and gave me a card. She'd put £10 inside to thank me for taking her bins out. Brought a tear to my eye - how lovely! 😢
I've returned it with a thankyou card but how touching!😊
Walked down into Birkenhead today - mostly raining, but sun came out briefly as I was passing the park, so popped in to get a few snaps of the ever-changing autumnal colours. 🍁🍃🍂
@theAliceRoberts
Pet hate of mine, and I don't think it's gender specific - just rude and ignorant people being rude and ignorant.
My balance isn't so good these days so rather that step off the kerb or onto the verge, I simply stop a few yards short. Their choice then whether to collide or not.
Out at 4.45am this morning - felt a blast of warm air as I opened the front door, even at that hour. Made it down to Moreton Shore about an hour later, missing the sun rising above the horizon, but still in time for the low sun to bathe the ebbing tide in a warm glow. 🌞😎
Revisited a favourite walk I haven't done for a while today - over Bidston Hill, down past the station and across the golf course, before reaching the coast at Leasowe Bay. Felt lovely with the tide right up!
Cold, misty and sunny morning at
#BirkenheadPark
today, en route to college. Quite slippy underfoot in places too, with the overnight frost and long shadows.
@DeborahMeaden
I try and stay clear of personal comments about politicians, however cruel and abhorrent their views & policies, but some of this lot posting deliberately posed photos signifying their patriotism is more than cynical, & almost inviting personal attack by the sheer hubris/contempt
One of my favourite walks this morning - Bidston to Leasowe.
Saw a fella hand-feeding a robin with mealworms. He let me have a go, & the robin actually perched on my hand to feed. What a privilege, gaining its trust like that - I'm made up! I've only ever had them hover before!
High tide at Parkgate on a grey day today. Thought the water wasn't gonna reach the wall, but amazing how quick the marshes then filled up.
Very busy with birdwatchers, and plenty of activity for them to view. Saw several crows picking off water voles and flying off with them.
Walk from The Harvest Mouse in Heswall today, across the fields to Barnston church, then followed Prenton Brook through Barnston Dale, before picking up the Thingwall / Storeton path. Warm work in the hazy sunshine!
A twirly pass adventure on The Southport Line today, for a morning wander around the Formby pine woods, and down to the Sefton Coast and sand dunes at Formby Point. Glorious blue skies and warm sunshine, but alas no sightings of red squirrels again. 🌞🐿
Walk out to West Kirby today, via Caldy woods. Was about an hour after high tide, so the Marine Lake path was just about accessible, although there was still water flowing back over the path into the sea. Note to self - old walking boots are no longer entirely waterproof! 😬🤣
Had a couple of days off Twitter after a rough episode emotionally. So important to reach out when psychologically low, and thanks to the counsel from a marvellous Twitter friend, I feel I am now back on the up slope and the green shoots of recovery. Anyway, Up The Rovers! 👍⚽️
@EstherMcVey1
Much as you like to be centre of attention, the current crisis is far from hilarious, as people's lives are in jeopardy.
I am reminded of when graffiti was sprayed in Hoylake - it wasn't nice but paled inthe comparison to how folk were being affected by your policies.
Heswall to West Kirby walk this morning in glorious sunshine, taking in The Dales, Cleaver Heath, The Dungeon, Wirral Country Park at Thurstaston, & Dee Sailing Club 😎🌞🌡
@grahamlithgow
Brigden is a political lightweight - any attempts at humour, sarcasm or displaying gravitas are invariably misjudged or mistimed, and merely make him look like the fool he is.
Bercow has been swatting away self-aggrandising nonentities like this for years - too easy here!
First time out since Friday after being confined to barracks over the weekend.
Still feel slightly under par, so bus out to West Kirby then the gentlest of strolls to Red Rocks. Great to breathe some fresh air in the sharp Winter breeze, and a very brief snow flurry too ☃️ 👍
5.30am start today. Woods felt spooky in the pitch black by torchlight - could feel a presence! 👻 Spotted loads of foxes and could hear owls hooting away. Misty at first light - was startled by a buzzard silently gliding close by, under the canopy. Met sunrise at Thurstaston 🌄
Circular walk from Heswall Bus Station to Parkgate today, out along the Wirral Way, and back along the front, then up through the golf course. Glorious warm sunshine ☀️😎
@Backpainandwine
Macaroni Cheese when it is ostentatiously sold as 'Mac 'n Cheese'.
I know it's the same stuff, but I have a disproportionately irrational dislike of this modern interloper description, and stubbornly boycott anything labelled this way 😬🤣
Took train out to Shotton today, then walked back as far as Heswall. Always a treat to walk across Hawarden Bridge -tide on The Dee was racing in really fast today. Was surprised to see a few swallows still about at Burton Point - must be due to set off back to Africa soon 🤔
Got the bus out to West Kirby today, and had a little wander round the Marine Lake, Cubbins Green, up to Caldy Village, and then through an increasingly autumnal looking Stapledon Wood. Warm in the bright sunshine, but noticeably a few degrees fresher in the coastal breeze.🍃🍂🍁
Been neglecting the walking, so did a 12 miler today, through Irby, Thurstaston, The Dungeon Path and Heswall Dales, before heading for home via Pensby.
Even with my dodgy hearing, thought I could hear woodpeckers drumming throughout, but isn't it a bit early for that? 🤔
Peaceful walk through Barnston, Heswall, Thurstaston and Irby today.
My mind has been racing recently, for reasons I won't go into here, but I can't recommend enough the calming benefits of a long walk, immersed in nature, to clear the mind and refocus 👍😎🌞
A few sunset snaps from Caldy Hill, Cubbins Green and West Kirby. 🌅
It even rained for a short spell as I approached Caldy, but was so warm and humid that by the time I got the bus home, I was a big sweaty mess! 🤭🤣
First time at a pub in 18 months today, albeit sitting outside the Farmers Arms in Frankby with a soft drink, after a longish walk encompassing Heswall, Dungeon Path, Wirral Country Park at Thurstaston, and Caldy Village.
Felt a bit strange but nice to be socialising again 👍
A grey and damp early Birkenhead morning on the final day of 2022.
Sending kind thoughts and positivity to anyone who may have been struggling over the festive period. Twitter can be a cesspit, but there are also fantastic and inspirational folk on here. Happy 2023 to all! 🎉
Couldn't sleep due to coughing / remnants of flu bug, so headed down to Leasowe Lighthouse /Dove Point to catch the sunrise at 5:41 am. Probably one of the last opportunities to photograph sunrise over the bay this year, before it retreats further south down the Mersey estuary.
Had a couple of days away from Twitter as have been feeling a bit meh and out of sorts over the weekend.
Nice boost this morning though, as this certificate has arrived in the post!
#BSL
Level 1 successfully accomplished - quite chuffed with that 😊
Down to Leasowe Bay again this morning. Plenty of paddleboarders and swimmers about, enjoying the high tide, which was nice to see! 🏄♂️🏊♀️
My mission was a little less adrenaline-filled, but I did get a decent blackberry harvest. Rich pickings at the moment! 😋
Pleasant walk in Chester today, folloing the Dee footpath around The Meadows, back into town along Eaton Rd, then over the chain bridge and back to the station.
Some personal news.
Finally had my
#ASD
assessment before Christmas, and have been diagnosed with
#autism
.
I feel calm, inner peace, relief & validation, and my struggles throughout life make more sense already.
The journey continues - I have much to learn and think about!👍
Just doing some research into
#autisminadults
If any of this resonates, may be worth approaching your GP for an initial chat and possibly a triage assessment, as a prelude to being referred for a full diagnostic assessment.
3 young lads by ours just before - thought they were mock-wrestling, but quickly became apparent 2 of them were bullying the other one, who curled up into a ball on the grass whilst they were kicking him. 😡
Went out, chased them off and walked him home to his mum. Horrible! 😪
#BirkenheadPark
this evening, starting to turn quite autumnal now. 🍃🍂🍁
Mist quickly descended after about 6pm, as the sun dipped below the horizon, despite it still feeling unseasonably warm.
So, that's my year long odyssey over! 😱
Goals achieved:
* managed to walk an average of 10 miles per day. ✔
* reached my target weight, and just about managing to maintain that, several months later. ✔
* no alcohol taken for the full 365 days. ✔
Time to go off the rails!🤣
Trip out with my sister to Llangollen today.
Plan was to climb Moel y Gamelin from Rhewl, but embarrasingly, I proper ran out of steam half way up the steep slope. Didn't feel good at all 😬
So, we descended and had a gentle walk along the canal to Horseshoe Falls instead.
Time has been unusually compressed for me these last few days with one thing or another,so haven't been out & about or on Twitter much
Managed a quick visit to West Kirby this afternoon. Contrasting skies either side of the Dee estuary, as a storm rattled over The Point of Ayr.
Early morning stroll in
#BirkenheadPark
So tranquil first thing when there's hardly a soul about. 😊
Nice reflections of The Boathouse today, and the young Canada Geese growing up fast.
A more urban Mersey walk today, from Woodside to Leasowe. Photos are: bascule bridge at Morpeth Dock; cormorants at East Float; Everton's new stadium, viewed from Egremont; drifting sand at Harrison Drive.
Muddy walk from Heswall down to the Neston front, south of Parkgate - absolute quagmire in parts 🤣
Rum & Raisin / Mint & Choc Chip double cone as reward for my efforts - the perfect ice-cream combo! 😜🍦
Haven't ventured out much in the slippy conditions these last few days, as normally go flying, but did the a careful walk round
#ArrowePark
just now, to capture some obligatory snaps of the wintery scenes.🌲⛄
@SkyNews
Hold the rest of football to ransom or sulk & take their ball home if they don't get their way. Sorry, but good riddance to them then!
I do hope the majority of LFC/MUFC fans have the fair mindedness to accept its not all about their clubs, and this proposal destroys the pyramid
Felt like it hardly got light today ... after delivering some cards, had a foggy walk home down Landican Lane and through Arrowe Park. Unsurprisingly, not many folk out and about, and it actually felt kinda spooky and quite lonely, but in a good way 🤔👻
So, a nice little 2 week break from Twitter there to sort my head out ..... have I missed anything, apart from windstorms, WW3 breaking out, and Rovers being crap? 😬
Anyway, here's a few snaps from yesterday's walk with the family from The Ponderosa down towards Llangollen.
Not had much time for walking recently, with one thing and another, but too nice an afternoon to waste today, so took the opportunity to walk home from my old mum's the longer way, up onto Noctorum Ridge, then down The Mops toward Upton. 🌱🌾
Couldn't sleep - mind racing in an unhelpful loop, so up early and down to Leasowe Lighthouse to watch the world waking up! Blummin' freezing, but a gorgeous time to be out, and I feel so much brighter afterwards.👍
Sending kind thoughts to anyone who may be struggling today 🤗
One of my favourite walks today, across Bidston Hill, down to the station, over the Birket, quick look in at the nature reserve before taking golf course path, finally reaching The Gun Site. Varied terrain for a shortish walk 👍
Thanks everyone for all the messages.
A horrendous 11 hour wait in A&E to be seen in the end - was a very long night!
Anyway, I've broken my radius in 2 places at the wrist end. After some bone manipulation under gas & air, in plaster / sling for 6 weeks.
Less painful now👍
Heswall to Parkgate and back today, marking 3 years to the day since I've stopped drinking. Was gonna celebrate with an ice cream, but alas back on a strict diet now, having piled on the pounds again this year.😣🚫🍦 Plan is to be in better shape by Xmas!👍
1st time back out walking in a week. Picked a ridiculous route, from Meols Station to Frankby Village, through RAF West Kirby - absolute quagmire in places - what was I thinking? 😱 Mud photos in following tweet.
After running a few messages in Birkenhead, wandered home via Bidston Hill, and the woods down to Eleanor Rd, to check out the rhododendron situation. Like elsewhere this year, there seems a lot less flowering that normal, but nevertheless, still some lovely displays of colour.
Heswall Dales, then down to Wirral Country Park, via The Dungeon today. Sun did its best to poke through glowering skies - warmer than I expected. Nice to get away from all the horrible things going on in the world for a couple of hours & recharge psychologically in nature🍁🍃🍂
Out to
#Heswall
today.
Dales were looking well, with yellow gorse blossom adding some welcome colour. The path across the fields to the shore was quite boggy after all the rain, but nice to see the sun out today for a change! 😎☀️
Evening walk today for a change, taking in Prenton, Storeton, Thingwall and Irby. Nice long shadows and dappled light in the setting sun to the west 🌄😎
Off to Snowdonia yesterday to climb Moel Siabod. Original plan was to tackle the Carnedd Dafydd to Llewelyn ridge but that had cloud cover at the top all day. Magnificent 360° views from the summit, but feeling it in my legs this morning! I've attached a short video below 🏴😎
Have to wait in for a delivery this afternoon, so took the opportunity for a shortish morning walk over Thurstaston Common, on the path towards the Thor Stone. A bit boggy underfoot, but was rewarded as the heather, ferns and grasses have turned the most lovely russet colour 😎
Short afternoon walk today, mostly dodging the showers, down Levers Causeway to Little Storeton Village, then back home via Landican Lane. All the trees and bushes bursting back into their green Summer finery now! 🌳🌿🌱
Happy New Year everyone! 🎉
Back on Twitter after a month's break during the festive period.
Major diet now underway after Xmas cheese gluttony & need to get back walking if the rain ever stops ☔
In my absence.,
#TRFC
have unexpectedly transformed into galacticos. Marvellous!
Nice brekkie with my old mum in Chaii's in Prenton.
Was quite touched today too - she's put loads of effort into making me a cushion, as a surprise thankyou present for running round for her during lockdown. 😊
A pleasure to bump into
@markwhite61
in Chaii's too 👍
@BBCBreaking
Terribly sad news to wake up to.
Such a kind and generous fella, always proud of his Biirkenhead roots, with the genuine warmth, compassion, empathy and love for dogs on his TV show shining through and speaking volumes about his character.
Paul will be so sadly missed. R.I.P.
Late evening stroll round Arrowe Park in the gathering gloom after today's rain, which didn't in any way suggest the brief but magnificent sunset that was about to unfold, just as Iwas arriving back home. Gorgeous! 😎🌅
Today's walk took me through Caldy Woods, down to the Dee Sailing Club, along to Wirral Country Park at Thurstaston, then up The Dungeon path.
Was delighted to spot my first swallows of this year, but couldn't get a good photo of them. Some early rhododendron blooms out too!😎👍
Well it's been a long day but good news!
My old mum has had her surgery to fit a stent to her aneurysm, and they were able to do keyhole. I'm told she is in recovery, but awake and talking (no surprises there 😬).
Thank you for the kind messages and positivity - means a lot ❤
Needed to avoid the noise of the day, so took myself off on a peaceful wander along the Roman Road from Prenton to Storeton, then the footpath to Barnston, through Barnston Dale, and finally pressed on along the glorious rapeseed oil lined path from the village towards Heswall.
First walk for what seems like ages today, from Landican Village to Storeton, then Roman Rd.
Cast finally came off yesterday - now sporting a wrist brace for a month. Great to be out in nature again, but feel so vulnerable & short of confidence after the fall. Takes time I guess
Traditional Halloween venture up onto spooky Bidston Hill today. Not a soul about, which added to the foreboding atmosphere, especially on the less trodden paths amongst the ruins between the back of Bidston Hall and The Clubhouse, with their murky and sinister histories!👀🧙♀️👻😬
Today's walk took me to Hoylake.
Given some recent criticism aimed at them, I would just publicly like to thank the
#RNLI
for all that they do, and stand in solidarity with their continuing brave efforts to save lives at sea without prejudice, often at great personal risk!
@MartinSLewis
It should be a secular country in my view, where everybody's religious beliefs are respected, but they should under no circumstances be permitted to tell others what to do on the basis of those beliefs.
Ethics, fairness, kindness and compassion are not dependent on religion.
Today's walk took me through Royden Park, Caldy Village, down to the shore at Cubbins Green, & finally on to West Kirby through Ashton Park, where the pigeons were mustering in the trees like something out of a Hitchcock film!👀
Noticed Caldy RUFC are playing today, £20 in🏉🤔
