My realistic hope for finals results, post-SA:
1. Bluecoats
2. Boston Crusaders
3. Blue Devils
4. Phantom Regiment
5. Carolina Crown
6. Santa Clara Vanguard
7. Mandarins
8. The Cavaliers
9. Blue Stars
10. Troopers
11. Colts
12. Crossmen
Big thing people are saying now is that SCV taking off this season injected Mandarins with a ton of top 6 talent.
There is exactly one (1) person from SCV who marched Mandarins this year. Mandarins’ success this year is by their own merit and not the shortcomings of SCV.
4A bands get slept on tbh, it’s actually impressive to have this kind of quality in a relatively small group (TX standards)
Especially true when they are only in their 2nd year of existing
Sometimes I think I’m the ultimate Vanguard fan and then someone else comes along and illustrates the Vagabond uniforms onto Family Guy with incredible detail and accuracy
Just signed up to volunteer at the SCV Dallas Camp this December. Should my 17 yr old sister register for the camp too?
She has her own personal marching tech (me) to help her prepare, and it will be 100% paid for.
Signing up for drum corps rehearsal camps as a member (immense financial and performance obligations)
vs.
Signing up for drum corps rehearsal camps as an aged-out volunteer (all I need are my bags and a car)
Band is more than just a nerdy hobby
A lot of the time I feel incredibly lonely. I go to work and maybe hang out with friends here and there
But when I’m in the presence of people I’ve met through band, I’m always reminded of how appreciated I am despite the lies I tell myself
Losing my mind bc I just realized that all the cavaliers wear their aussies pinned on the right-hand side, EXCEPT for tubas who need it on the left-hand side and now I can’t unsee the differing brims in every picture of their hornline
What is most heartbreaking is that The Cadets posted about their 2024 auditions just 6 hours ago, which means this probably was a sudden and unexpected announcement for everyone involved
With all due respect to everyone marching this season, but it is my opinion that the scores across the entire activity are hardcore inflated rn
At this rate BD is gonna break 100 at finals
Blacklisting/shaming vets for considering/auditioning other corps is petty and makes your organization look bad.
Additionally, not considering people alumni of your corps unless they aged out there (especially if they just chose not to march at all) is even more petty.
qrt and bookmark this shit idc but I think it's absolutely disrespectful to turn down one of your most dedicated vets for auditioning elsewhere...if your corps does that to any of your vets it shows a blatant lack of respect for their career as a performer & musician
I wish drum corps was still happening right now and I was participating in it so I can vent all my emotions into hitting my dots, snapping my horn, and repping the closer a hundred times in a row.
5th place shows are always bangers
Atlas Rising
Finding Nirvana
The Wrong Side of the Tracks
S.O.S.
Jagged Line
Propaganda
Spark of Invention
Out of This World
You cannot convince me otherwise
If SCV has a million fans, I’m one of them
If SCV has one fan, that one is me
If SCV has no fans, I’m dead
If the world is against SCV, I’m against the world
Till my last breath, I’ll support SCV
