It’s a thing you mostly hear positive things about, but man, parenthood is fucking hard. I mean properly, unequivocally difficult, utterly draining both physically and mentally. That said, I have never loved a human being more than my newborn son.

Thanks everyone. She had pseudo croup on top of a nasty case of influenza which caused pneumonia and low saturation. She needed extra oxygen and to be monitored closely. Spent 4 nights in hospital, but she’s close to full recovery now.

I really dislike sticky headers on mobile. Screen real estate is already limited—especially with all that cookie consent BS—and I can scroll to the top of the page with one tap. Give me more room for your content and leave your logo & nav on top.

In 2008, I built a large #eecms site for a client. After a couple of years, they took over maintenance and ongoing development themselves. Now, a full decade after the first version, I'm back. And oh boy.

The current dependency trend (npm, composer) reminds me of the rise and fall of CMS add-ons/plugins. With the latter, people rejoiced when "there's an add-on for that", but were eventually bitten by abandonware and technical debt.

jQuery is still perfectly fine for progressively enhancing an existing DOM. Vue (et al) basically *makes* the DOM and therefore isn’t a good option for public websites or any site/app where the conditions aren’t fixed.
