It’s so hard to have nuanced discussions about sex work on this app is because a lot of people who’ve never done sex work think that their personal sense of morality should dictate who gets access to basic rights.

I don’t do too much with my escort marketing because I think they enjoy the free content the loss of backpage led to and I’m not bending over backwards to sell someone on sex with me. Bc why is it taking you 8 months decide to spend a whole whopping one hour with me? 💀🤣

Since you need to hear from folks in more precarious conditions, I am a Black SW in a criminalized country. Legalization would mean still having to deal with law enforcement AND still having to see clients under precarious conditions. Decrim would enable SAFER work conditions.

@stevenfilms1998 go to hell for advocating for something that would result in more women being trafficked yeah, there is no ‘decriminalisation’ under capitalism that would not be detrimental towards sex workers ESPECIALLY ones in more precarious situations than her so idgaf about her crocodile

Whether we are allowed access to safety shouldn’t hinge on if sex work is “good” or “empowering”. We are people performing labor and we deserve safe and fair working conditions, regardless of anyone’s moral hang ups about the work itself. Period.

Years ago I was at the bank depositing my stripper cash and as I was leaving some guy came in, saw me and LOUDLY goes, “Hey! You’re Amara from Men’s Club!! Do you remember me?? You gave me two lapdances last Friday!” And then asked, “What are you doing when you leave here?”

Community is cool when you’re getting interviewed for tryst or petit mort mag, or writing a blog post for Twitter clout, but not when the concept makes YOU feel called out. Your clients may have made you rich, but it’s other sex workers who fight for you to be free and safe.

You don’t get to deride us, speak over us, tell us our lived experiences don’t matter more than theory, dehumanize and spit misogyny at us, derail any convo we try to have about labor rights and safety, and then claim it’s because you care about us. Sorry, what???

This! Bc part of the reason it’s hard for sex workers to “just get another job” is because if it’s found out that they did sw in the past, THEY GET FUCKING FIRED. Criminalization leads to stigma and impacts *every* aspect of our lives, including exit plans.
@botticellibimbo

a sw should be able to say that in their experience they view it as rape without swerfs making it as meme. the reason why it is difficult to exit the industry and the very aspects that contribute to their experience are a result of criminalization

When the majority of sex workers are people of color, the solution is NOT something that keeps us closely monitored by police. The police mistreat people of color—esp WOMEN of color and visibly queer folks—on a GOOD day. How do you think they treat those of us doing work? THINK.

Criminalization= police harassment and jail. It means our methods of working safely are illegal. Legalization= we won’t go to jail but STILL can’t work safely because clients won’t adhere to our safety measures. Decrim l= we can work safely AND we won’t be hounded by cops.
