Baggage handler here. These delays suck. We honestly would love to get you on your way on time, every time and we try our best
However, we are short, there’s issues with recruiting. Don’t blow up at the staff who are here, blow up at the higher ups
That is all
As someone who works at Sydney Airport, please be kind to us, we are trying to get you to where you need/want to be. Short staffed due to being dead quiet for like 1.5 years and then suddenly going full speed once the borders opened.
We get it, it’s hard for us too
@doctormcdougall
@VirginAustralia
I’m a baggage handler, I don’t see the issue? Honestly, if you think this is bad, you should see what happens when it goes through the automatic systems down to us, a lot worse than this
Bubble wrap and travel insurance are your best bets. Speeding this up also doesn’t help
⚠️ Some trains are running late across various lines this morning due to urgent track repairs at Central. Here is an image of the culprit.
Our team is on site and working to rectify this issue ASAP.
We thank you for your ongoing patience and understanding.
A few thoughts from Rex’s final flight
It was a normal flight, the crew seemed cheerful despite most likely knowing their fates. There were around 50 pax in the main cabin, 4 of us in business. They offered the usual food and drinks. We parked at a stand with no aerobridge
@BelindaJones68
Belinda. I understand your disapproval of the current government but targeting local businesses that really need some love is horrible. Delete this

“Only a handful of Covid-19 cases in intensive care are believed to be infected with the dominant Omicron strain, with NSW Health revealing they believe it is Delta that is putting people in hospital” -Daily Telegraph
Wow
To be honest, as a Sydney Airport worker, Joyce’s comments are disgraceful
Mr Joyce, stop blaming the passengers, it’s not their fault. It’s the slow recruitment that’s leading to this. The security lanes you see closed are purely due to lack of staff.
Fix your call centre too
They were 30mins into the flight when they ran out of water, within close range of Melbourne for a diversion. I’m genuinely unsure why they continued west for another 4hrs…
#BREAKING
: Fremantle Dockers players and staff were reportedly forced to urinate in basins on a chartered flight home from Tasmania following the side's loss to the Hawks, after the plane ran out of water.
The Transport Workers Union today expressed "deep concern and outrage"
@ringsau
Agreed! I’ve flown it and even with lounge access it’s still a tough sell. Sure the bus isn’t perfect (seats are tight and some phone black spots) but you don’t have to deal with the airport at all.
Get on the bus, put on a movie, even have a sleep. It’s quite nice.
The fact that the Sydney Airport train costs like $20 one way and it’s exactly the same as the rest of the network is daylight robbery
Like at least give me a free Kit Kat or something
The routes were too thin with the 737’s, the app concept was flimsy and hurt sales, the aircraft acquisition issues were a debacle which lead to a lot of distrust. No other airline killed off Bonza, they killed off themselves
Here’s my bet: the Labor Trolls list was meant to be private
It was a mistake, most likely, a very costly one
Now, it seems, her stint at the ABC could be over
I mean, why would she delete it so quick if she wanted it in the public arena?

Household contacts negative, one venue with close contacts (I checked and he went at a really quiet time), partially vaccinated, low viral load. The chances of this going anywhere are very slim I reckon

Mate. These are people trying to see their families, their friends. That stuffs important. I’d much rather someone take 1000 back and forth flights for no reason then 1 person miss out on something special because they felt it was “unnecessary”
Despite the abundance of Dash-8’s and 717’s on the very short Sydney to Canberra route, today I find myself on a Boeing 737.
31 minutes in the air, cruising for about 5 of them 😂
@ms_michellelaw
Sorry Michelle but as a centrelink customer I really cannot afford it. We aren’t all upper middle class like yourself, don’t claim you don’t have privilege then flex your therapy money on us, thanks.

Sooo, the calls for the retail TOTAL SHUTDOWN are not really valid. It should really be: STOP VISITING PEOPLE INDOORS OR AT A HOTEL
@Vic_Rollison
Do you just lockdown for fun? Like is this a thing you usually do? Like “hey kids you can’t go outside because I wanna talk shit about ScoMo online again!”. Like, is this normal behaviour?
@jenbechwati
I work in the industry, it’s Alliance Airlines fault. Ultimately as the ones operating the flight they have the responsibility to inform the passengers on what’s going on. The pilots have an intercom to inform passengers, they had the choice to say something, they didn’t
@fictillius
It’s an hour to Brisbane and Melbourne on a plane, in relatively the same deal of comfort. Brisbane is 16hrs on the train, Melbourne, 11. Without the sleepers, why would you bother on these routes that 4 airlines operate hourly flights on
@matttburke
I instead like to hire helicopters from Melbourne to Geelong to attend fundraisers. I don’t know why you’re pretending like this isn’t normal Matt
"We have, in all but name, lockdowns over east": WA Health Minister Amber-Jade Sanderson has defended the delayed border reopening, saying supply chains and the health sector are being 'crippled' in other states.

Absolutely lovely experience with Qantas in Sydney. Booked on a 737 flight to Brisbane, saw there was a later A330 flight, asked if I could change to it, they very kindly agreed for no extra charge
Lie-flat seat for a 1hr flight!
After dodging literally every bullet possible, I’ve finally come down with the novel coronavirus
Triple vaxxed but I have really bad muscle aches, the worst sore throat I’ve had in years, no appetite, it’s the flu on steroids
@NSWHealth
The fact that most of these people were wearing masks could be saving us here.
“In late May, two hair stylists in Missouri had close contact with 140 clients while sick with COVID-19. Everyone wore a mask and none of the clients tested positive.”
Gold Coast airport is the least superior of airports in this country. Does anyone not wanna immediately get outta there?
Like put me in a tin shed in the middle of the outback and I guarantee you that it will be 1000x better
Might be in the minority here but I think this is quite a good product. A sub fleet with flatbeds using the “XLR” range is seemingly on the way, and by all reports this batch is just going to be replacing the 737 on current 737 routes, which is quite an improvement in my mind.
