Before the first one flew away (Northern Rough-winged), I briefly captured 4 different types of Swallows in 1 frame of a video. (other 3: Violet-green, Barn, and Tree)
I really appreciate the response I got regarding the American Coot's beautiful plumage! One comment reminded me of how much I love the Coot's feet and I felt the need to share!
I posted this video of mine on SuperbOwl Sunday this year when I just started getting active on Twitter with not many followers. It always gives me a chuckle!😊🦉
This is one of my favourite videos I've ever shot! Piper, the Sandhill Crane colt hopped from the marsh onto the boardwalk right in front of me while I was recording! (BC Canada)
I'm quite overwhelmed by the amazing response I received to my little video of a female Hooded Merganser out of the water--thank you everyone!🥰 Here's a photo of her mate.

I thought I'd post one of my favourite videos that I've recorded, even though it's not the greatest quality, seeing a Pileated Woodpecker stretching his wings. (BC Canada)

S is for Swallows and Surprise! This is one of my favourite videos from 2 years ago. I had only ever seen 1 type (Tree) so it was completely unexpected to see 4 different types in 1 video! (Violet-green, Barn, Tree, and Northern Rough-winged)
I'm taking a break from organizing some of my old videos and thought I'd post one that I had forgotten about. I found a few sites on Google that said Great Blue Herons don't sneeze so I'm wondering what this sound is about...? (Burnaby, BC, Canada)

I posted this video of a male Pileated

when I first started getting active on Twitter/X in Feb. 2023. I'm posting it again because I have more followers who may not have seen it. Not great quality but nice stretching instead of just pecking!

We managed to get a bit closer to the flock of Snow Geese and with the maximum zoom on my camera we could get a better view. Most were sleeping with the odd 1 or 2 walking around.
‘You, but no face.’
Oh that’s an easy challenge for me. You won’t find many faces of me in my phone. Also, pictured is a thicket of thorns I definitely wouldn’t want to find at night.
Today is almost exactly one year from when I actively started posting photos here as I posted this video in honour of Superb Owl Sunday! I think I'll make it a tradition!
Taking a break from organizing some old photos and thought I'd share one. From September 2021 (when I just started using my current camera, Nikon Coolpix P950) a Black-capped Chickadee with a peanut from the basket of my mobility scooter.
Exciting trip to the park across the street this morning! Lifer! 3 Barrow's Goldeneye ducks--1 male and 2 females. Lighting was horrible at first but improved when they went to the other side of the pond. Here's a shot of the male. (Burnaby, BC, Canada)
It was only 2 years ago that I first heard about Green Herons when our newly discovered (now favourite) birding site was abuzz with excitement! He hasn't shown up this year, yet, so this is from our first sighting. A subspecies (Butorides virescens) in BC Canada.
The young Great Blue Heron that I've been stalking, has been hanging around a small dark pond on the weekends because the large pond in the park is too busy with humans and remote control boats. The lighting is terrible but I was happy when a bit of sun shone through some leaves.
This is the 3rd time I have tried to post this photo. I am technologically-challenged so I may have messed up but I've been able to post others...? If this doesn't work I'll ask my husband to try or watch me to see if I make a mistake.
A male Northern Pintail (BC Canada)
The sky was grey and the birds were in a dark part of the park, but I saw what I was hoping to see for

I knew the battery on my camera was almost exhausted but as we were leaving the park we saw a female mallard in a shady spot where we have seen one with ducklings several times at this time of year so I had to zoom in for a better look. The battery died as I shot a bit of video.
The other day, I saw a Great Blue Heron jumping around excitedly. I don't know if he/she disturbed a bug nest or what. I put a few video clips together to show some of the behaviour. (BC Canada)
Why are the Twitter trends mostly depressing?☹️
I come to X/Twitter for a little escape from all the misery.
Let's flood Twitter with birds, because birds bring JOY!😍
Use the hashtag
#MyBirdPic
& share your photos & art, let's see if we can get something joyful trending!🙏
Sorry about the quality of this video, the subject was very far away and in the dark--I honestly don't know how anything was recorded! It was so exciting to see this LIFER! An American Dipper (Burnaby, BC, Canada)
I can't get to my favourite birding spot where I saw a beautiful Sandhill Crane family last year and found out this year's eggs didn't survive. I'm going to pay tribute by posting their only successful hatching in 6 years by posting many photos and videos from last summer.
