Just got in my first London Uber and the driver hears my accent and says, “from the land of Jacinda, she’s my girl.” Then he laughed the rest of the trip at the NZ reaction to one covid case.
This is pretty surreal. Very proud of
@NewshubNZ
for some incredible nominations for the NZTV awards. Very proud of
@DanielPannett
for getting us here. Very, very proud of our work.
After the most remarkable 3 years as Europe Correspondent, I’ve signed up to a new adventure with the team at Stuff, as Senior Journalist - International and National Affairs. I’ll be starting in September, based in Auckland.
Apologies for the trivial content but I just made pasta in a kettle & am preeetty chuffed.
@DanielPannett
very grateful..
(We forgot to sort dinner early and then everything shut & we don’t have the cutlery/facilities we thought we did when we bought our back up snacks).
There are half a million of these stories...
And millions more will follow in the weeks to come.
@DanielPannett
and I feel very privileged to be trusted with a handful of them.

I’ve never been a voyager finalist before & I am feeling pretty damn chuffed. A huge congratulations to all the other nominees, especially those from

NB: there is no nomination without

Very proud to work alongside journalists like

who will always fight hard and fight fairly to get the information New Zealanders deserve.
I can't tell you how many times Greg made me search this story in the archives and watch it. He said he was so unimpressed with the prods for giving him such a silly story that he wrote a rhyme so they couldn't change a single word when it got into subbing. I miss his genius.
Two years ago today, journalist and newsreader Greg Boyed passed away. Here's one of his early stories for One Network News which showcases his unique way with words. Possibly the only time a news story has been delivered entirely in rhyming couplets...
I will always treasure the years spent working with this man; learning, singing (while he air-drummed at his desk) and always, always laughing. Greg, you were the best mentor a young journo could have & I'm forever grateful to have seen your genius in action. Rest easy my friend
A big congrats to my good friend

Australia corrie. An exceptional journo & newsroom treasure who is going to do wonders for Sydney’s overall vibe. Time to get the ol’ trans-Tasman bubble up and running I think...
Some people you just feel damn lucky to know, Jake is top of that list for me. His is a story of courage, strength and love; love for a life he fought so hard to hold onto.
Proud to report Nethub’s most convincing win yet. At one point the opposition remarked, “we may as well not even be here”. Every goal was a goal for Nethub.
UPDATE: The siren has now finished and we are safely above ground. Just a note, Odesa gets a lot of these alarms because it is in the path of missiles flying towards Kyiv from Crimea. That is where there has been significant bombing overnight.

A highly emotional service in Italy this morning, in commemoration of the 80th anniversary of the Battle of Cassino. Minister Collins overwhelmed while talking about her father who served here.
Not a siren waking us up at 2:30am today - but a fire.
Everyone is safe and a man has been taken away by police.
Unrelated to the war but in war times everything is far more intense.
Great news for kiwis in the UK (or those wanting to move over) - the working holiday scheme will be extended from July this year. The great kiwi OE will now last up to 3 years and up to the age of 35.
Push alerts going out across all the big international media networks. The black cabbies in the UK will be in shock right now. They always recognise my accent as “from Jacinda’s country.”

Prime Minister Chris Hipkins has confirmed he is not going to Ukraine on this trip to Europe. He says it’s not possible due to scheduling restraints - same excuse Ardern used a year ago. NZ has now turned down 2x invites from Zelensky to visit.
