by the way, if we're looking to idolise another group of comp players i think we're coming at this wrong. for example, why are we glazing kaizer when flyzero had a history of racism😅 i think the solution is not blindly idolising anyone
my thoughts from last luti to now.
i talk about toolbox, the jackpot coaching and who i'm grateful for in spite of it all.
read if you have the time, i mostly did this to clear my head
i'm being so serious let's just make a blacklist for people who commit literal crimes like SA and grooming and doxxing or whatever. would take a lot less time
i don’t like how hostile comp culture has become. people used to scrim other teams regularly and form alliances, people used to support each other and now it feels so cutthroat. you can’t practice without a number and rank being attributed to it, so no one experiments.
the comp experience for me has been being starting as a lowest level coughing baby and realising that all of the high level players i idolised back then are actually awful people
people get LI banned and forget how to be good competitors if the mid level ego disease really is that terminal maybe i'm happy staying eligible forever
imagine if he was div 5 that guy would be getting ratiod into oblivion. but this community will gag on its strong players no matter how horrible they are as people
when it comes to comp, i think
comms > synergy > mechanics
people overstate the importance of mechanics and underestimate the need to actually enjoy playing around your teammates LOL
@Chai_Splat
the SECOND jared gets unbanned i know that guy is going to be looking to play in pickups. he's been crawling back into the scene for a while now and it seems very calculated. i wish they'd all just *actually* take time away, they've hurt our scene enough
this community has a huge problem in unfairly punishing marginalised people (poc/fem people) while letting white men do whatever they want but we're not ready for that conversation
why did we ever take splat safety seriously... i think we as a community just need to start exiling people why are we relying on an anonymous org to take 2 years to do anything
if you have problems with the following in tournaments you play in
- seeding
- bracket times
- maplists
here are a few solutions!
- offer to help
- don't play the tourney
here's what you don't do
- bitch on twitter
it's so simple
no means no!!!
to anyone who bothers reading my yap, never *ever* let someone guilt you into doing something you don't want to do, having boundaries is a good thing and it will protect you. the right person will understand that
I’m posting this to bring awareness to the concerning behaviour of @/X1NOB1, the victim in this situation wishes to remain anonymous, so please respect that. This is their explanation of the situation. (Ss with evidence in replies)
the sad truth is we'll never really know who our top players are as people, which means we can't act like we know anything about them. anyone can put on a kind face in public
We have decided on the following bans, effective immediately, for the members of Jackpot due to level 2 violations of the Code of Conduct:
- Q, 2 months
- Jared, 3 months
- Madness, 6 months
- Leafii, 6 months
- Zero, 12 months
playing this game for the love of it isn’t rewarding when the culture of comp players sucks so badly. why do we all hate each other, why do we dodge people, why don’t we give people chances anymore. high level looks the same now as it did 3 months ago. things used to change
i think a large part of why we’ve seen no meta changes is because of sendou q. people, especially higher ranked people, are not going to experiment with subversive comps if they know they can get the points and keep their rank safe by running pencil shot squeezer stamper.
⭐️ giving a shot at making a team? ⭐️
building a roster entirely from the ground up so i won't be super strict on the requirements, if interested pls hmu with some details about yourself!
vibes nd coordination over mechanics but please have some results ❗️
@X1NOB1
yeah, usually i don’t care because it’s petty, but now that he’s repeatedly targeting people who are already struggling mentally it seems incredibly mean-spirited
mid-high level splatoon got fucked when we decided maintaining an arbitrary standard of play in an exclusionary space was more important than letting new talent grow and connect with the upper levels
drop ur discords below if youd be interested in joining a server im making :p it'll be a little bit for pickups/running open but also just to hang out, i won't be super picky as long as ur cool
i hate that teams don’t actually talk to each other anymore, i hate that we don’t scrim, i hate that i feel like i’m throwing if i do badly in sendou when it’s supposed to just be practice and it was perfectly fine to do badly in scrims. it’s really demotivating and becomes toxic
some people take being resulted so personally i find it kinda funny, we argue about it way too much when there isn't much consequence at all. i was getting resulted regularly by teams at my skill level when i was *div 6*, you'll live if you're div 2 and have clout
i'm being so serious let's just make a blacklist for people who commit literal crimes like SA and grooming and doxxing or whatever. would take a lot less time
this shit makes me wanna quit comp. i love my teammates and the game but im tired of being scared to fuck up each set bc i know itll become a huge deal for no reason if i lose. this kind of thing is expected if you're high/top level but we're literally not even ftiu banned
btw if you interact with/support xino i don't want anything to do with you so respectfully, block me. i've had similar experiences to maru which i'm still working through and i have zero tolerance for anyone who wants to downplay or make light of this. 🫶🏻 my support is with maru
This post is titled “And Then There Were 6” because Nocturne has fully fallen asleep. I mean it’s like that one album Sabrina Carpenter put out Short n Sweet. But fr though, we have decided to disband, everyone still loves each other, it just didn’t work out.
@patchuus
*saves kitten from burning tree* *donates five million dollars to a charity* *sings lullaby to children in hospital* *helps old lady cross the street* *leans over multiple expensive cars* wow you're so pretty!!
tristan just wanted to keep people safe! maybe the joke got old but some of u people were actually so rude about it for no reason. now u wanna backtrack? get real
the way people talk about zestfest now reminds me a lot of how people used to talk about toolbox just a couple of months ago. be proud of your results, sure, but treating a set win against another low ink team as if it's a world championship medal is doing too much
i can understand wanting your team to play comps that work and having (loose) expectations of everyone should be using, but the difference here is... zap and ntri? kit is tweaking, and having an ntri is much more useful than a 3rd zap player :skull:
Ngl I dislike What happened todayI had a solid performance on n tri but we lost 6-3 in a scrim and now kit is suggesting to my teammates that’s I should be kicked out of wave illusions because I didn't play zap when we have 2 zap players
gem is NOT the only person i intend to call out here, just the most recent case that i can most easily find evidence for (and also the reason i feel inclined to do this)
one of my partners once was like 'you're not that pretty' during a tender moment
i rolled over in the fetal position and groaned for like an hour, and then he went and made me an im sorry card out of construction paper and markers and stickers
being unsportsmanlike this way pisses me off idgaf about being resulted idc that i lost out on a badge i care that we deserved that tourney win more than them. if we played a 4v4 like we were meant to we would not have dropped that
opting out of screen isn't something that makes you vulnerable, btw, and that's a dangerous rhetoric to promote. asking for accommodations is a good thing! we should be letting disabled people make choices that make their lives easier!
i wanna view x as just practice and not care about the number since my actual goal is to be a good team player and not a solo one but its hard when i see my friends reach higher and higher peaks while mine is still so mid 🥲 it's hard being a support in solo q
i believe strongly that the best improvement in this game comes from being repeatedly shit on by god players until you finally find something that works to make you not get knocked out in the first minute
