it amazes me how many people reach out to me asking how to get in a room (when i haven't even been staffed myself!) and when i ask them what they've written...they say "well, i haven't started writing yet" writing something and revising ad infinitum is the first step!!!

If you want to work in TV, you need a sample. While original pilots are standard, but people who’ve been hired with features, plays, short stories, etc. I just say… be ready. If you want to work in a TV writers’ room, you need something that shows you’re supposed to be there.

Don't judge yourself by fellowships. I've never won a fellowship. I've had reps. I've met with development execs and pitched material. I know it hurts but don't let the rejection get you down too much. Keep pushing, keep meeting people, and most importantly keep writing 😍

before 5/1 I got great news after a decade of trying. But, this strike is abt all our futures not to mention the future of this business. It’s okay to be sad+mad. Let it fuel us+direct that energy to AMPTP that caused this by being unwilling to pay writers a fair wage #WGAStrong

You have to have moxie. Moxie is good. But, it is equally important to show respect for someone's time and realize that they are busy too. The people who make me personally want to respond or do things for are the people who recognize this. 4/8

I'm seeing a lot of people respond to this with lengthy ambitions i.e. "I will write ten new scripts next year." Remember, this game is quality over quantity. I wrote two scripts this last year, the last of which I wrote and threw out and started over on.

went on a writer's retreat this past weekend and wrote a kick-ass spec of NANCY DREW. it's been yrs since i wrote a spec but i was inspired and this year, i decided i'm giving fellowship season everything i've got. here's to the showrunners out there who still read specs 🪄
