I care about the public understanding of science, free speech and statistics. Exasperated Jewess fighting for sanity since 1492. My pronouns are כל הזין
This sums up so much about twitter’s laziness/simplicity/inanity
James Cameron has made 33 dives to the titanic wreckage and knows a lot about submersibles. He is literally an expert on this exact thing. If only people could be bothered to read or watch things before retweeting
@whstancil
I don’t think it is. He’s saying it to make a point, not because he thinks people seeing this tweet will necessarily believe it or expects them to.
It’s kind of ironic how after decades of conservatives whining about how feminists just hate men, the anti-trans conservatives have thrown their lot in with a group of radfems many of which literally do loathe men for being men and will say shit like this.
The people giving stupid reasons why they hate Emily Wilson’s Homer translation (like wokeness) are embarrassing to those of us who just think it’s lame and she has no ear for English.
She lost to a candidate that even Joe Biden could beat, you zombie. That’s like a baseball player losing at Tee-Ball.
If you want to win elections, don’t run widely-despised candidates who campaign like they’re entitled to your votes.
Impossible for me not to express my rage today at so many progressives who “couldn’t get excited” or didn’t show up in 2016. You were blind to the fundamental rights that were at stake. The most vulnerable citizens will pay the price of your fucking privilege. Vote.

Never heard a 9/11 joke? Here let me help:
“Gender is like the twin towers. There used to be two of them and now it’s a really sensitive issue.”
The lack has been remedied
Can’t stop thinking about the people who first ate mushrooms through trial and error. You know, like “this one tastes kind of like beef, that one killed Brian instantly, and this one over here made me travel up God’s rectum for four hours with the knife of my mind”
As a brilliant professor of mine once pointed out, the liberal arts are the opposite of fascism because learning something for learning's sake outside of your comfort zone attacks the idea that one is only good at one thing.
"A lexicographer estimated that the average 19th-century peasant used a vocabulary of 250 words, an educated person 5,000, and Shakespeare 27,780, though that last number is disputed” (Max Hastings, The Times)
Does that figure of 250 make origin of language seem less mysterious?
It wasn’t *beliefs* they were exterminated for. The Nazi view was that a Jew remained a Jew regardless of belief or even conversion. Under the Nazis, Jewishness was racialized, and the Holocaust was an act of biological racism.
I get that some parents are very uncomfortable with the pictorial depictions in the Anne Frank graphic novel. But they’re missing the point: Anne was the voice of a generation of teenagers who were exterminated for their religious beliefs.
People acting like racial or ethnic homogeneity is the essential reason for Japan being clean mystify me. Singapore is an EXTREMELY ethnically diverse country with similarly clean cities.
They have a suffocating culture of cleanliness and order.
Freedom and diversity=dirty cities.
It was true for Rome and it is still true for NY and Tehran, etc.
For some, including me, it's a worthwhile trade off for a more interesting life.
There’s a huge controversy on the Jewish view of when life begins.
In the Jewish tradition, the fetus is generally not considered viable until after it graduates from medical school
The phenomenon here (people losing it when they learn the world isn’t plagued by great bit pedophile rings) is real but the explanation offered does not wash with me.
I’ve seen just way too many Jews do this to be able to chalk it up to Christian nationalism.
I've returned several times to the strange social question, "Why are Americans so angry at the idea that child sex trafficking - particularly by large organizations and by kidnapping American kids - is not as common as people suggest?" Because they are, this comes up every
Guy walks up to me on the sidewalk and deadass asks me if I have heard of Jesus.
Like, motherfucker, do you think I managed to be alive for two and a half decades in this country without hearing about the dude?
@katempadilla
@nytimes
I suggest two things:
1) Get an understanding of how OpEds work
2) Learn about more female leaders in the 20th century. Some of them actually led governments and made policy.
Someone recently asked me to talk about “the science of astrology” and I legit didn’t know what to say. I try hard not to disparage people’s worldviews but I didn’t know how to say “there is no science of astrology” without sounding like I was belittling it.
No woman?
I am pretty sure there are at least a few women in Greece, China, Malaysia and Korea
The world is big. Taking your husband’s name really isn’t a universal human custom.
Oh ffs.
School lunches, Expanded child tax credit, Medicaid expansion, Police body cams, Seatbelt Laws, anti-smoking laws, gay marriage. Shall I go on? There’s even more stuff that’s been tested in some places, like municipal broadband and basic income.
Can anyone point me to an instance where a contemporary progressive idea was implemented and didn't immediately fail catastrophically? Do they have a single success they can point to?
@gwenkansen
If literally all you want is sexual release with a hot warm body who maybe will also entertain you
Some guys want that
I'm not judging
Better they be honest with themselves and others about that than lie to some girl and leave her heartbroken with unhealthy coping mechanisms
Drag Queen Story Time is actually really rare. It's kind of weird, but it's deeply bizarre how obsessed with it people on the right are.
Making laws about it is like making laws dealing specifically with Naruto fans. Like, what the fuck?
-Piss themselves constantly
-Scared of everything they don’t understand
-Unaware of how the grown-up world works
-Pitch a hissy fit in public whenever unhappy
-Shit all over absolutely everything
Sounds about right
@yuanyi_z
Do you ever feel even a tiny bit embarrassed about reducing the moral content of the most destructive conflict in human history to the level of a cartoon TV show for children? Because it really is extraordinarily pathetic, and a disgrace to the 70 million dead
A reminder: Mount Sinai is located in Egypt and a Greek Orthodox monastery bearing my name is located at its foot.
Zionist attempts to turn multifaith, multiethnic, and historically layered spaces located in Palestine and Egypt into 'purely' Jewish loci is colonial erasure.
