I think many people don’t understand sustained boycotting can take years. I also think that’s why people are desperate to see ‘results’ & are saying McDonald’s and Starbucks are closing already. These companies are multi-billion follar empures. We must be patient & persistent.

fun fact: in 2008, libya sued italy for its colonial crimes and won a settlement of $5billion which was to be paid over 20 years. this was next to nothing compared to what italy did (killed a 1/3 of Libya's pop) but this agreement was cancelled when NATO invaded.

I am sorry I like bashing STEM but humanities are equally weaponised by the state to prevent radical ideas from emerging. Have you spoken to an ‘international relations’ student? They just be regurgitating imperialist propaganda

I think about how Zambia is poor only because it aided liberation movements in southern Africa & got financially cut off by the racist states like Rhodesia + apartheid South Africa who refused to let its main export (copper) pass through them so the country had to default to IMF

The IMF and the World Bank’s structural adjustment programs were designed to punish African nations (and others) for decolonization and to ensure the continuation of the plundering resources and labor initiated by colonization.

@emilie_de_roche where in the tweet did i say to not pick yourself? picking yourself isn’t abandoning them lol you can set boundaries on what you can handle and how you can help. staying with people when they’re happy and leaving them the moment things get tough for them is wrong 👍🏾

A short🧵 on the Polynesian Panther Party (PPP), a revolutionary movement that defended the rights of Maoris and Pacific Islanders in Aotearoa ('New Zeland') after being inspired by The Black Panther Party.

Barcelona will not let its sister-city die. We started when the sun was up and didn’t stop even when it was pitch black. I saw people crying as they chanted Gaza no está sola!!!

"the way the oppressor tries to stop the oppressed from using violence for liberation is to raise ethical or moral questions about violence. i want to state that violence in our society is neither right or wrong- it is simply a question of who has the power to legalise violence."

This day in 2003, 36 million people from around the world marched against the invasion of Iraq, making the protests the largest anti-war rally in history. 150 cities in the U.S, 3 mill people in Rome, 1 mill people in London marched- none of this stopped the barbaric invasion.

Comparing Singapore to Africa is the worst false equivalence for so many reasons bc Singapore is rich by selling out to the west during the Cold War : 1. In 1967 (2 years after independence) 15% of Singapore’s GDP came from military procurement to U.S during Vietnam war
