Kyoshi was able to recite Kuruk's love poem for Hei-Ran even though it was never published to anyone except Kelsang. That became the first sign that she is Kuruk's reincarnation and the true Avatar. Kelsang, of course, the first one who realized it.

As Kyoshi lay there, she could feel the gift Kuruk had given her. The battle between the previous Avatar and Father Glowworm had left identifying scars on both parties, marks carved so deep as to be permanent. She and Yun were inheritors of that legacy.
