What if you could use Rider as a Linqpad - playground for C#/F#/VB scripting, DB testing, C# interactive, decompiler, etc. - no need to have an existing solution/project. Indeed on MacOs, Linux and Windows. Like?

[Challenges for Rider 18.3] We are overriding how F# compiler service works with C# projects. By default it treats them as simply as output assemblies, but if we'll manage to make FCS dealing with our C# entities instead of dlls metadata, we will get smooth F#<->C# refactorings!

So in 18.3 we've refactored a LOT our assembly model both in ReSharper and in Rider. Previously we were loading the whole project's transitive closure of assembly references, now we load only directly referenced ones. Less footprint, much less GC, faster startup (cold & warm).

For all those lovers of the CodeLens feature from VS, we've introduced our 'CodeVision' analogue, which has more navigation and Unity metrics and updates itself much faster (thanks to R#'s Solution Wide Analysis engine). And of course it is cross platform :)

Hey C# folks, would it help if an IDE will distinguish extension method calls from simple member calls and highlight them just a little bit differently by default? RTs are welcome!

This may definitely creep you out... But don't be worried folks, we don't want to embed neither VS nor MS Office inside @intellij . Why would we? :D The thing is that with this technology we are hoping to introduce WinForms support in @jetbrainsRider in 18.3. #Rider20183Dev

@pycharm just released "Code with me", and this is the best feature if you do pair programming together with someone or need help with your #python code. This will be *so much more* than just "screen sharing + Zoom". Let me explain โฌ‡๏ธ
