Thread. As long as #DRC fail to understand #M23 they will never be able to deal with it. The root of M23 is the same root that the DRC grew out of in 1997. Now the president has promised to kick them out of the country, but you can't kick your own country out of your own country.

When people complain about Rwandan influence in DRC they should remember that the DRC's founder relied first on one Rwandan side and then the other one to gain and keep power. All the big shots in Kinshasa have their own histories in all this which they prefer not to talk about.

In 1998 Kabila decided to chuck out Rwanda against the wishes of his own army which rebelled in the form of RCD (later CNDP, later M23...). He had to turn to the Rwandan genocidaires - which Mobutu had given shelter to and against whom Rwanda intervened in 1996 - to save his skin
