the "you're hot, cupcake" scene is iconic, but dont be fooled: vi is not the one that takes initiative in their relationship. A thread that no one asked for: π§΅
I hc that they both used to have long hair and then one day vi decides to cut all her hair off and then powder wants her hair short to be like her sister so vi cuts her hair too and their mom just finds them like this
it's so funny that arcane is rated tv-14 and they were allowed to have mylo get impaled onscreen but characters can only say "fuck" three times per season.
"Silco's not evil!" baby he uses child labor to manufacture drugs that he pumps out to his people to get them addicted and keep them reliant on him for the supply
aj: hey noelle catra is going to be ok eventually right
noelle: yes I promise anyway can you do that agonized scream again but like you're in even more pain
I can't think about vi as a kid in stillwater for too long. marcus really just dumped a child in prison indefinitely, let her get beat up over and over and told himself he did the right thing
firstly, why does vi say this?
-to make cait uncomfortable (because it's fun)
-to make cait uncomfortable(so that she leaves, or so that vi can quickly ditch her)
-because she's attracted to her.(duh)
cait initiating touch, again. i dont think i need to say much about this one. Saving vi's life and touching her so gently earns her +10 Vi trust points.
you know that moment in rom-coms where one of them is about to leave forever on a plane and the other one is running to the airport and breathlessly says something cheesy like "i WONT let you run away from *us*!" she was totally imagining herself doing that
HERE is the vulnerability. vi feels safe with cait, now. this is the most intimate moment they've shared so far, and it was initiated by cait, yet again!
but it already is for cait, who took the first step(literally) in progressing their relationship. "in what mad world would i trust someone like you," she says, while choosing to trust vi. there are moments where she doubts her trust in vi, but once given, it is never rescinded.
cait initiates touch and is rejected. i could talk about vi and attachment theory, but then we'd be here all day, so we have to move on. still, cait not leaving her to die earns her +5 vi trust points.
i think vi will be more of an initiator once she has a more secure sense of self, curbs some of her avoidant tendencies, and generally stops stewing in the pool of self-hatred and guilt she's got goin on, but until then... cait is on the case, if the case is... kissing vi.
cait trades her weapon to save vi's life. this is an INCREDIBLE amount of trust she is putting in someone she just met. parting with her only means of self-defense in a dangerous, unfamiliar location. she is trusting vi to keep her safe.
it IS flirting, but not kind or even very genuine. That would require vulnerability, and at this point in the story, vi would rather get sevika'd in the gut than be vulnerable with cait. That trust isnt there for her yet...
"This city needs healing, more than I ever realized." this one isnt about their relationship, specifically, but cait recognizing her prior ignorance and genuinely wanting to help earns her +15 vi trust points. Just look at that face.
this one is just my interpretation, but i fully believe cait was ready to go risk it all for vi if jinx hadnt... interrupted her evening. this is the face of a determined woman
cait demonstrating her care for vi by trying to convince ekko to let vi go and take her insteadβ "i thought they were hurting you." vi overhears this. +10 vi trust points.
cait is now at 40 vi trust points and has unlocked a rare touch initiated by vi! after this, vi touches her face and pats her knee when she's injured, but cait will continue to be the one progressing their relationship.
it's saying, have you felt what i've felt between us, are you just going to end it here, i want to stay with you. this is cait confessing her feelings for vi. There's barely any room for other interpretations here, and zero room remains when you take into account vi's answer.
cait telling everybody in the council how they failed vi "in countless ways". this would earn cait like. a bazillion vi trust points if we were still running with that gimmick
99% sure that noelles next project is lumberjanes! pls let him work on other things and know that if a continuation of spop is happening it wont be for a while! ahdjdj I just get worried that some ppl will keep spamming noelle when ultimately it's not her decision π
since molly didn't work on the show she can tweet whatever she wants. she could be like "the last scene is adora waking up and realizing that the whole series was allll a dreammmm" what's noelle gonna do? Divorce her?
it's been said before but cait is so autistic coded. she is "othered" by her peers, struggles with small talk, has a strong sense of justice, trusts her own moral compass over any rules set by authority figures, her only friend is a nerdy scientist 10 years older than her,
reminder that vi has an aquarium with pet jellyfish in her apartment and throws darts at a wall clock and wears spiky slippers and has a picture of caitlyn on her fridge
ok HOW is the kiramman estate so easy to break into. shouldn't they have security? does cait just never lock her bedroom window? does she sneak in and out regularly?
just saying that haha maybe a show that buries their gays and has an misogynistic creator that bullies women off his show shouldn't get the nomination over spop....
Vi calling her "Powder" during an emotional moment and Jinx not correcting her... the implication of "Powder" becoming less of a heavy dead name and more just an affectionate nickname for Jinx... u don't UNDERSTAND
inhabitants of other planets see catra call adora "idiot" as a greeting and think ah that must be an etherian custom. everyone starts calling her idiot, adora is confused catra is having the TIME OF HER LIFE
oh man. "when you take away everyone from a person who really doesn't care about themselves and has never had a situation in which their life is valuable in its own right separate from its supportive role for others, the result of that is rapid, destructive deterioration."
some fic writers: hmmm ok so catra is like.. brown... and angry... I don't know any brown people except- OH!! Latinas are like really mad all the time right?? Yeah and let's make her speak Spanish like randomly because that's what bilingual people do!!
Oh this is good stuff. Looks like notes for season 1 but some things are Very different. Look at episode 6... "Marcus frames Vi + Caitlyn" "Jayce gets the news Caitlyn is wanted and fled the law" "Jayce wonders if Caitlyn is a traitor"
what does baby vi learn from seeing her parents dead on the ground?
1. the world is not safe
2. i cant rely on other people to take care of me
she is going to base her whole sense of self around being highly independent, self-reliant, and a protector to others.
adora as a cadet: im feeling... feelings about catra... but instead of addressing them I am going to push them deep down inside of me, punch things, and tease HER about having a crush on ME haha. gottem.
vi has an avoidant attachment style, but which type? fearful-avoidants crave intimacy but avoid it out of fear, they often have low self esteem and don't feel worthy of recieving love, they can be affectionate and then become cold out of fear of getting "too close".
