I dislike the idea that all Muslim women should adopt this like super demure, quiet, excessively shy personality in order to successfully be considered โmodestโ.
I also dislike how some women have internalized this and feel like theyโre better than women who arenโt.
I understand that one would consider dying during hajj a good way to go out but at the same time those people shouldnโt have died that way if that makes sense.
people go to Mecca and die all the time but if Iโm correct Iโm hearing this has a lot more to do with negligence and safety issues. I understand we engage with death a certain way but sometimes itโs dehumanizing
so bc ramadan is a thing I know thereโs this immense pressure to do the most because...well, itโs Ramadan. As someone who struggles w consistency and being too hard on myself hereโs some tips no one asked for.
also the majority of the idea of an โIslamic appearanceโ is based on an Arabized articulation of Islam that people hold themselves to but thatโs another convo
I get that halimas story was externally about hijab but to me it seemed to be her saying that sheโs no longer doing things that donโt resonate w her and I think thatโs admirable.
people are allowed to go up and down in faith...itโs completely normal. If we are not being a voice of support or reminder when someone is going through it then we should just be quiet.
something that scares me is that a person can be immersed in the Quran yet the heart not be penetrated by itโs words. that it doesnโt impact your actions. May Allah protect us all.
so w igโs algorithm being trash not a lot of new people are seeing my brand page ๐
My brand is Melfhas By Meem and I sell ethically sourced clothing from Mauritania and Senegal. I just dropped our line of kimonos and boubou style dresses โค๏ธ
I find it fascinating how people that claim to not believe in God use terms that imply something bigger than themselves โthe universeโ, โenergyโ, โvibesโ etc.
if youโre naturally like that or genuinely feel like this is what will raise your station with Allah do your thing. I just think though a lot of us are taught that like youโll be given some reward by men/be seen as a โgood sisterโ and that will offer some security..itโs not true
I think some people are so accustomed to black women doing the emotional heavy lifting in their lives that they feel comfortable hopping in the DMs of black women they donโt even know AND feel entitled to their time/a response
so women who may be outspoken or opinionated or I guess donโt feel the need to assume that personality are looked at as offensive/inferior bc they didnโt opt into that
"Our religion is about a tradition of sitting in front of people, who sat in front of people, who sat in front of people, who sat in front of the Prophet Muhammad, peace be upon him" - Shaykh yahya rhodus
start slow and then build, honestly my first week my only goals are to fast , pray my Salah on time, make my dhikr, and read Quran daily. If you start off trying to do all the things youโll burn out
I donโt have time but Iโm just wondering if the same people who gave Daniel haqiqatjou his platform (had him on their podcasts, made him seem like he was a legitimate voice in convos about religion) are now willing to publicly condemn him.

Remember the most beloved deeds to Allah are regular and consistant even if small, so tbh if my Ramadan consists of just that for the whole month Iโll be content.
if you have certain goals you can add things after each week/10 days
I think being intentional about what *you* want to get from Ramadan is important as well. Sometimes Iโd feel pressure to do things other people were doing but it didnโt resonate with where I was at spiritually and what I needed from Ramadan.
Iโm sorry Iโm still stuck on this....I just donโt understand how it is socially acceptable to say that you donโt eat vegetables in 2019 without shame
imam tijani Cisse was asked, donโt you feel annoyed with people always coming to you asking for money?โ
Imam Tijani replied: โWallahi, I have never given a single penny to anyone but Allahโ
Dr. Sherman Jackson, the King Faisal Chair of Islamic Thought and Culture, and Professor of Religion and American Studies and Ethnicity at USC. Author of Islam and the blackamerican, Sufism for Non-Sufis? Ibn โAtaโ Allah al-Sakandariโs Taj al-โArus and more.
saw a video of habib umar teaching a man al Fatiha in what looks like an airport and honestly it made me think
one of the things that I just love about the knowers of Allah is how they just go and be beautiful to people no matter where they are, just always bringing light.
itโs just so wild to me that weโve developed this attitude that weโre so โeliteโ and โpiousโ that we shouldnโt care for those who are struggling with faith.
