Disgraceful.
An officer of the court.
A former attorney general.
A former state Supreme Court justice.
Casting doubt on our judicial system.
A disgraceful position in blind support of a disgraceful man.
This was a sham show trial. The Kangaroo Court will never stand on appeal.
Americans deserve better than a sitting U.S. President weaponizing our justice system against a political opponent— all to win an election.
We must FIRE Joe Biden in November.
GOP election law atty Ben Ginsberg, says no chance for Paxton suit:
"Absolutely not. The notion that a Texas attorney general is going to try and disenfranchise the voters from four other states for laws that were in effect on Election Day is just not meritorious in the least."
Looks like Trump will carry Texas by 5 or so points.
Hard for Dems to win any statewide races with that margin at top.
The TX Dem losing streak in statewide races, dating back to 1994, continues.
I’m now in hour 39 of journey home from South Africa. Now at JFK awaiting delayed Austin flight. Understandable. But this part isn’t: Does

have to be blasting Fox’s Jeanine Pirro on TV at our gate? Doesn’t Geneva Convention bar this? Please make it stop.
Pulitzer Prize for small-town Palestine Herald-Press comes same week the paper ceases daily print publication and goes to three days a week. Support your local papers. Please and thank you.
Sad obit. John Henderson died Friday.
He was oldest living former Texas Longhorn football letterman.
And, with wife Charlotte, was half of the Guinness World Records oldest married couple for aggregate age.
They were married 80 years. He was 107. RIP.
Longtime Austin American-Statesman staffer Arnold Garcia, who had a positive impact on our city through his many years as editorial page editor, died this morning. Great newspaperman. Great guy. Was honored to work with and know him. RIP.
House honors newsman R.G. Ratcliffe on his retirement from Texas Monthly. Ratcliffe has covered Capitol since shortly after Battle of San Jacinto. Resolution passed unanimously, possibly because he's still working on 10 best/10 worst. Kudos to R.G. always one of the best.

TX Senate votes 17-13 final approval to HB2622, which makes Texas a "Second Amendment Sanctuary State" in which state money won't be used to enforce federal gun laws.
Abbott's itching to sign this one...

Lisa Davis was a great photographer with a keen eye for great and memorable photographs.
I’m so glad her work is being archived and remembered.
RIP, Lisa.
Ann Richards and Barbara Jordan in Austin, 1991. I have just discovered the newly archived Lisa Davis collection of photographs at the Portal to Texas History. Lisa was a photojournalist in Austin from 1978-1995. Sensational collection of photos here:
Longtime political consultant and PR executive Julian Read died today in Austin.
Among other things, he was an aide to John Connally and a witness to the Kennedy assassination.
And much more, perhaps none more important than gentleman.

Not commenting on Patrick's performance, but can anyone point to a more important legal/trial proceeding in U.S. history that was presided over by a non-lawyer?

Former Statesman photog Nick Wagner, who was run into by Bevo at Sugar Bowl, files lawsuit.
Defendants are Bevo owners John and Betty Baker, and Silver Spurs Alumni Association
Wagner claims gross negligence led to permanent injuries.
Politics and policy aside, listening to Bill Clinton and Barack Obama at Elijah Cummings’ funeral reminds us of a time when presidents could lift us with words and offer praise to somebody other than themselves.
In his weekly missive, TX GOP Chair Allen West says he is many things, including a "registered Republican."
Not in TX, he's not. Nobody is.
We don't have party registration here.
They do in Florida, where West used to live and run for office.
BREAKING: Nearly all eligible voters in Travis County are registered to vote this year.
A record 97% of the county’s estimated 850,000 eligible voters are registered
Amazing. Despite the ice storm chaos here in Austin, our newspaper today showed up on time and in the spot where it always is. That’s a dedicated deliverer. Thanks and stay safe.

Former Texas state senator files State Bar complaint against AG Paxton for filing the election lawsuit.
"While holding our profession up to national ridicule is not a violation of the Rules of Conduct, it should be."
Texas House votes 128-0 to name new office building under construction near Capitol for late U.S. Rep. Barbara Jordan.
Would become first state building named for a Black female.

Just too sad. Great reporter. Great writer. Great friend to travel with on more campaign coverage than I can remember.
Texas politics gave us much to laugh about. And we did laugh.
RIP, friend.
TX senate votes 26-4, with no debate, to allow wine and beer retail sales to begin at 10 am on Sundays, instead of current noon.
Bill analysis says current law causes 'frustration with Sunday morning grocery shoppers.'
We're going to hell.
That is all.

UT Chancellor McRaven in WaPo op-ed letter to Trump: "I would consider it an honor if you would revoke my security clearance as well, so I can add my name to the list of men and women who have spoken up against your presidency."
George W. Bush statement on election:
"The American people can have confidence that this election was fundamentally fair, its integrity will be upheld, and its outcome is clear."
@tederaab
@moodyforelpaso
I don't know all the facts of this situation.
But I do know this. I covered the Texas Legislature for 42 years.
Rep. Moody is among the most conscientious, effective and diversity-sensitive legislators I came across in all those years.
More like him, please.
Herschel Walker re Trump:
"I had planned to take his kids to Disney World with my family. At the last minute, Donald said he’d like to join us. So there he was, in a business suit, on the 'It’s a Small World' ride. That was something to see."
Photo, please.

McRaven says his public support of Biden support "actually started when (Trump) ... said that the media was the enemy of the American people. ... . I fought the enemy of the American people and it is not the media."
McRaven's WaPo op-ed letter to Trump ends thusly: "If you think for a moment that your McCarthy-era tactics will suppress the voices of criticism, you are sadly mistaken. The criticism will continue until you become the leader we prayed you would be."
Just one young girl. Just one little letter. Just two little gifts. Just what a new neighbor needed at a difficult time.
Just what a world needs at a difficult time.
I've had about enough of the political ads on TV.
Never thought I'd say the following:
I kinda miss the Thomas J. Henry ads.
Has anyone heard from him?
Is he OK?
