These fools somehow think that if they take sides with billionaires someday one of them will come down from heaven and make them one too. Meanwhile said billionaires are ROFLMAOing at how effectively they’ve duped their minions

I don’t want pain clinics at all. None of that crazy BS. Just want my regular family doctor to treat my pain, the same way I was successfully treated for 17 years before I was abandoned. So my life can go back to normal (but manageable) again.

“Fear of Addiction” is so irrational in the context of chronic pain. Are diabetics “addicted” to insulin? Heart attack patients “addicted” to beta-blockers? In all cases, there is physical dependence if you need a med to function. True for ALL meds. Why are
#cpp
’s treated diff?
@ThomasKlineMD
@BuzzFeedNews
This article fails to close the link between chronic pain and depression. People are depressed BECAUSE they’re in chronic pain, not bc they’re on painkillers. When treated w/opioids at effective doses, depression eases. Antidepressants are no sub for effective pain treatment

This issue doesn’t belong to a political party. Pls don’t make it that way. Those of us who suffer from chronic pain don’t need this. And Mayo, believe me, isn’t broken from liberalness. It’s broken from greed and BigPharma / MedTech lies.

As they point out at the end of the article, this program is great for the insurance company’s bottom line and for the physicians. Who cares what’s best for the patient, right?

Does it even occur to you that patients know best what they’ve been taking, which dosage etc WORKS for them and has been effectively Rx for them in past? Do px not have a right to insist they be given what WORKS? ESP when the medical ERRORS are 3rd leading cause of death in US!
@ERshitmagnet
Don’t worry - YOU are the reason many of us would rather die at home than seek perfectly treatable* care at an ER. YOU are a DISGRACE to the medical profession

The article also fails to acknowledge that all the “alternative treatments” in the world aren’t as effective as opioids for many. Marijuana doesn’t help pain for everyone, for ex, even if legal. Chronic pain patients aren’t out there getting high - their pain eats any euphoria
@ThomasKlineMD
That’s certainly been my experience. But why is that? Why do so many doctors and other medical professionals feel this way, instead of an appropriate degree of empathy? I’m so puzzled by this. I really would like to know the answer.

I’m Kelly and I quit a 20 year 2.5 pack a day habit in a single day thanks to Strawberry flavored nicotine liquid and vaping. I’ve been 100% smoke free for 7 years and feel better than ever!

I would add, don’t tell ppl what they can or can’t do with their bodies, FULL STOP. This includes sex, abortion AND recreational or self-medicating drug use. Just butt TF out of ppl’s life choices mmk? Easy peasy!

All CPP/IPP - addicts are NOT OUR ENEMIES! Pls don’t buy into > divisiveness! As Lelena said,

is a 👍🏼 strategy (as is

@StopBadDocs
NO f’in WAY! The very fact we’ve reached the pt we’d make ppl stick electrodes in their brains out of unfounded fears of centuries-old drug w/ wide safety margins rather thn create possible drug dependency (when we blithely create other drug dependencies on the reg) = horrifying!

I had one doc say to me, “but you don’t look like you’re in that much pain”. I said, without even thinking, “no, I’m at a 4 rn bc I’m taking my pain meds as prescribed, and they work”. They looked at me like I was an alien. What was the “right answer” there?
@ravensspirit68
Oh. My. God. This article is so irresponsible... I do my very best to focus on everything BUT my pain on the daily. But I can only DO that when I have sufficient pain meds to get it down to a level where I CAN kinda ignore it (around 4-5). But now we HAVE to talk bc nobody cares!
And how exactly is that going to help those many thousands of us already abandoned and suffering daily, whose docs have abandoned us & retired in droves bc of your negligence? Are you going to find us docs to renew our Tx/Rx?

The very idea that
#cpp
’s are abusing their meds is ridiculous even at face value. The pain sucks up all meds’ relief - there’s no “getting high”. The ideas are mutually incompatible: how can we stay stable on our Rx for many years and simultaneously be “drug-seeking junkies”?

Also, while ibuprofen (aleve) is a miracle drug in its own right, its side effects are more dangerous than opioids for long-term continual use. Serious GI problems and higher risk of heart attack are well-documented. If we are talking safety for chronic pain, opioids win for many
