When I interviewed coach Bobby Bowden a couple of years ago, he told me, “Son, I’ve been on top of that mountain and there ain’t nothing there.” Those words have never left me.
Oscar Tshiebwe gave thanks to God for being so good to him after his massive 28 rebound game against WKU. Gave complete credit to God and not himself. That's what makes him a special player. He's a humble human being.
Ponder this: Mark Stoops had never won a game as a HC when he was hired at UK. Now, he is the all-time winningest football coach in school history. You never know how a coach will do until you give him a chance
When Scott Drew told his staff he was considering the UK job they urged him to take it. Alvin Brooks is following the advice the staff gave at that time
Made it to Rupp. If ya'll could whisper a prayer and thoughts for my dad. He tested positive for COVID Monday and had to rush him to ER about 30 minutes ago. Lost my mom to this virus 3 months ago.
I've had several complaints from folks not being able to watch UK baseball this weekend. Why is the No. 2 seed in the NCAA Tournament placed on ESPN-plus?

Rex Chapman on Mark Pope's hiring: "Cal did so much great stuff with this program. And nationally, we were always right at the front. But you have to remember, we also were with Tubby and we also were with Rick, and we also were with Eddie and Joe B and Adolph. This program, like
Mark Pope played for UK. Won a national title You know he is excited about the opportunity to coach here when things are official and finalized. Don't be quick to judge without giving him a chance. He wants to be the coach here and he is one of our own.
My mom is going on a ventilator .... to help ease her anxiety. It was a last resort option. I hate you, COVID .... pray for my mom she didn’t want this ...
Excited to announce I am transferring to the University of Kentucky for my graduate season. I know what it means to wear Kentucky across my chest and couldn’t be more ready to get to work!! Go Cats!💙
NEWS: Dayton transfer Koby Brea, the best shooter in college basketball, has committed to Kentucky, he told ESPN.
"God put me in a position to play for my dream school in my last year of college."
STORY:
Ya'll ready to go back to Maui, Bahamas and other fun preseason tournaments? I also see more big-time non-conference games at Rupp under Pope. The UK-IU series renews on Dec. 20, 2025
One NBA scout on Reed Sheppard: "It's slow on this end about him (decision). People will always question his athleticism ... but he is a good player. Pope should make him their focal point and see if he stays. ..."
Received an e-mail from an elderly UK fan and they have no means of watching the game today. We have a generation or two which do not rely on the internet. They still watch games, read the newspaper and listen to the radio. WHY are we not taking care of those who took care of us?
My mom and step-dad have tested positive for COVID-19 and they both could use some prayers, good thoughts! Praying the virus gets outa here soon, ya'll.
Winston Bennett on Mark Pope being the coach at UK: "It's one of your own. It's a brotherhood. It's a family. So to know that your brother is now the head coach at the greatest university to ever play this game, the feeling is just overwhelming. It really is."

Mom update: Doctor is releasing her and said, ‘you beat it!’ She replied and said, God did!’ COVID damaged her lungs and that will take some time to heal! Thank you all for prayers, support, thoughts and the awesome staff at St. Joseph’s, Berea.
Heard a crack of boos as Andy Beshear takes the court. He says the state is not broken amid the tornadoes that hit our state. By the time he leaves, Everyone is standing and cheering as he leaves the court.
Mark Pope has been personally picking up and taking recruits to the airport this weekend for visits
I don’t think I have ever heard of a coach doing this before
Oscar Tshiebwe a great basketball player, but an even better person. His Interview after the game last night brought me to tears and was a blessing. Story coming soon.
The next 2 days will be the toughest of my life as we say goodbye to my beautiful mother. COVID-19 took her life and left my family without our rock for the rest of our lives. Mom's heart is within me and I will make her proud for the rest of my life because I am momma's boy.
Trent Noah posted this verse on his social media release earlier today: Proverbs 16:9 .... Here is what it says (NIV)
"In their hearts humans plan their course,
but the Lord establishes their steps."

Jason Hart on joining the UK staff:
“I’ve played and coached at every level of basketball and there is not a more passionate fan base than this one. I will give every ounce of energy to our players and this program, and I can’t wait to get started. I want to thank Mitch Barnhart
I’ve sat back and held my tongue during this whole situation thinking maybe it will die down but I’m truly over all the false narratives that “Hokie Fans” are trying to put out. My mom was diagnosed with breast cancer about 7 months ago and is currently in the middle of treatment
Pope: “The University of Kentucky is the pinnacle of coaching in college basketball. It’s the definition of blueblood program where hanging a banner is the expectation ever year. Equally as important, UK changed my life forever as a human being. The love and passion I have for
BYU AD Tom Holmoe on Mark Pope: “We want to thank Coach Pope for all that he has given to the BYU men’s basketball program in his nine years here as an assistant and head coach. His unique combination of passion, dedication, creativity and excitement has inspired our BYU
Back in the day, someone gave me an opportunity to pursue my dream. I gave my intern that same opportunity yesterday. He brought his camera and I told him to go and have fun. He captured this picture, better than any I could have taken 30 years ago! Good job, Tyson!
Calipari: “If you’re just coming for NIL, why are you coming here? Our kids get drafted, get second contracts. Our kids have made over $4 billion in the NBA”
What’s concerning about the transfer portal is it doesn’t show players the value of commitment. I’ve worked at 3 newspapers and 2 online outlets in my 30 years in the business. In the real world you can’t change jobs every year and expect the next employer to see you as loyal.
Normally on a Friday night, Cracker Barrel is packed. When we went last night it was half full. I left the server more tip than normal. If you dine out during these times, be more thoughtful of the servers during this time. Many of them have no other source of income.
For those who think I am new to this, think again! I broke the story when Scott Perry left Michigan and came to EKU in 1997 and also when Travis Ford took the job after Perry was fired in 2000. You break coaching search information by developing reputable sources and following
Trent Noah on being at UK:
“Growing up a lifelong Kentucky fan and now being at the University of Kentucky, it's just a dream come true,” he said. “I’m super happy where I'm at. God's plan is greater than mine. It’s awesome.”
Just gave coach Joe B. Hall and his friends a handful of quarters so he could park at Memorial Coliseum parking lot to watch practice. I think coach Hall should have a permanent parking spot!!!!

Mark Fox on joining UK staff
“This opportunity is extra special because, not only do I get to work at one of the most traditional basketball powers in the country, but I also get to work with a former player and a former staff member who is like family to me.”
I made it through my first Gameday after mom’s passing. I always talked to her on my way home no matter the time. Tonight, her favorite song, “Long Black Train” came on the radio on my way back to Berea. ❤️

Been around UK 3 decades and Mitch Barnhart all of his tenure. He stuck with Rich Brooks when he started off rocky, but knew when to cut ties w/Joker Phillips & Billy Gillispie. The feeling here is that he has already given Cal his chance after loss to Saint Peter's 2 years ago.
Rick Pitino quote after winning the national title in 1996: "The university is what we're all about, but this is the team that the state -- that belongs to the State of Kentucky, the Commonwealth of Kentucky, and we're very excited we represented them for a National
Today was special! As I sat through Mark Pope’s press conference my mind went back to 1986, my first year covering the Wildcats as a young sports journalist. Not gonna lie, got chills.
Mark Pope on Trent Noah:
“Trent Noah is one of the elite shooters in this class. He is a tough, hard-nosed player with a special physicality. As an eastern Kentucky native, Trent will bring a grit, toughness and determination to the program that is representative of this state.
It will be interesting to see what Kentucky does when the current contract for the Champions Classic expires in 2025 and the CBS Sports Classic when the current deal ends in 2026. I would like to see more marquee home-and-home games and a return to the Maui Classic. ...
Kerr Krissa on teammate Travis Perry:
"Travis is phenomenal. I've had some pretty good shooters around me, but he's definitely up there. He's, he's very smart. And he works hard, man. He really does. ... He's is in the gym and and the results are showing. "
I have been appointed by Governor Beshear to serve as a member of the Team Kentucky COVID-19 Memorial Community Advisory Panel. It's an. HONOR to be chosen. will do my part to make sure my Mom and those we have lost to COVID-19 will be remembered as a NAME and not a NUMBER.
Kentucky's basketball schedule isn't out yet, but what we do know is the Cats will play Duke on Nov. 12 in the State Farm Champions Classic in Atlanta. Also UK will play Ohio State in the CBS Sports Classic (location TBA).
Leaving Neyland Stadium after Cats beat the Vols today, I wanted to call Mom. I wish I could say I'm doing good with this, but I'm really not. I'm trusting God, but I'm still trying to cope. My biggest question is what did mom do to get COVID and then die alone from it? Why?
Mom update: She has not improved over the weekend and requiring more oxygen from the ventilator with a peep of 10 up from 5. She is fighting and giving it her all but she needs thoughts and prayers as well. Pray this turns around today. The lung collapse has healed ... 🙏
