Earlier this year I reviewed Barbie🩷
It’s only ended up at the beginning of the Talking Movies end of year review, and is in the same programme as an interview with Christopher Nolan🤯✨
You can watch here:
I’m about to start working as a journalist at Newsround📺💕
I grew up watching the programme religiously and now I actually work there?! Mad😭 If you have a story appropriate for the programme that’s bursting to be told, DM me💌
@AmberRoseGill
Amber, pls can you imagine how we all felt sitting at home watching your season! After the first week I was on the edge of my seat every episode 😭😭
Huge congratulations
@SamMcAlister1
- you were always so kind to so many of us. In a world where those who work behind the scenes don’t get credit, Scoop highlights the importance of those who aren’t front and centre, but work tirelessly.
My face after talking to children about my journey so far:
Story telling is so powerful, the children we’ve met have actually been so sweet!!😊tiktok connoisseur, Joe Tasker, was our panel host but they actually asked for everyone’s autograph, including mine loool🥰
Today’s Google Doddle is the pioneering poet and journalist Una Marson. She was the BBC’s first black producer. I wrote a bit about her in this article from 2018.
I guess it’s time to 🚨 announce 🚨 that after 4.5 years I’ve left my staff role at BBC News. Grateful for what I’ve learnt &the people who’ve allowed me to tell their stories.
I’m a freelance journalist now with BBC studios, but do you want to. work together on an adhoc basis?
I’m two months late🤭but did you know Newsround turned 50 this year? It was such a privilege to work on the programme that influenced me to work in news!
Okay so I’m turning 26 in a couple months, and after speaking to other people in similar positions I want to know what 18-25 schemes we can apply for before then? Can you let us know?🥺 if there’s loads, I’ll create a one off newsletter.
#18to25schemes
Going freelance was a bit risky, but I’ve secured a stream of income since taking the plunge 🥳🥹 still open for article commissions and producing/ presenting junket interviews of course - kbrownejourno

Starting to feel somewhat like myself again after nearly a year of being so grief struck I struggled to even get out of bed some days. I’m thinking of all the other families who have also lost someone to suicide during these two years❤️❤️❤️
In 3 weeks time, Shang-Chi will land on Disney Plus as part of a new annual event called "Disney+ Day"
Last month, I spoke to
@nancywyuen
@gracehahahan
@DanielYorkLoh
and
@its_willyu
about the film's cultural footprint within Western cinema.
My life has been transformed by mentoring! If you are a student journalist and you are wanting to speak to someone a couple of years older or want any advice, feel free to send me a DM 🧡
The love Michelle Yeoh has for everything everywhere all at once and her castmates brings me such joy! You can feel the warmth and love they have for each other through a phone screen 🥰
Come on Barbie, let’s go party
#BarbieMovie
is sharp, funny, witty and heart-wrenching all in one. Dare I say this film is perfect. Thank you
@WarnerBrosUK
for the invite. This is the film of the year 🩷
I really am in a state of shock and dismay at the amount of adults who cough&make no attempt to cover it with their hand or elbow…have we learnt nothing from the past 2 years?
I’m trying to think of a polite way to bring this up and can’t so instead I will be quietly seething
Submitted for my first script competition of the year! So often I’ve held back from sending anything, so irregardless of the outcome, I’m gassed I had the courage to do so🥹
Growing up in Luton, Jamal Edwards was someone so many of us looked up to. He was born round the corner from me, broke barriers + launched so many careers. The Google advert feels like just yesterday! I always thought, if he could break into the industry, then why can’t I? RIEP❤️
Me 🤝 talking about Barbie in my personal and professional life

I can’t wait to watch it again! Thank you to the live page queen

If 16 year old me could see that talking about films is something I’d do for work, she wouldn’t believe it!
.
@leizenomis
tweeted about Benedict Wong and now we are hosting a space on Thursday about actors we thought were American but are actually British🤣
Set your reminders and come thruuu if you can 🎬
A little disappointed with the journalism coverage around Lucy Letby’s case focusing on her aesthetic and insisting “she doesn’t look like a serial killer.” What does that even mean?
It’s Sickle Cell Awareness month! Seeing tonnes more tweets about the condition this year in comparison to last, which is welcomed. I worked on a documentary about the condition and you can watch it on iplayer🤍
Last year I was so nervous to move away for work (albeit for a few months, hoping I’m here for longer) but I’m genuinely really enjoying it and everyone’s so kind🥺❤️
Over its six series,
#ThisIsUs
, a show about a seemingly regular Pittsburgh family, became both a critical hit and audience phenomenon, writes

Feel so privileged to have seen
#forblackboys
for a second time now during the West End transfer.
The topics hit a little too close to home. It’s thought provoking, painful and affirming all at once. Fantastic performances and choreography 5/5 for real!!!
Legendary actor Sidney Poitier has transitioned to the other side at age 94💔
He was the first black actor and the first Bahamian to win a Best Actor Oscar. I loved watching him & the coolness and confidence he exuded on screen.
Gunna be on 5live at around 6:20. Tune in if you can!📻
My mum is screaming “you’re going to be talking to Tony” if I mess up I’ll never hear the end of it!🤣
Five years a journalist this month. There have been highs and lows and now I do it in a freelance capacity and part time. I’m not sure what’s next for me in my journalism journey but i’m thankful 🥰
One of my friends just told me they started therapy because of me previously being so open that I went in the past🥺 I cringe every time I talk about mental health lool but I can't describe how amazing that feels. Wishing everyone healing, and a reminder, it's not linear❤️
Tonight I went to Badminton after not doing it since school, with a woman I met who also hadn’t done it in years! I felt such a sense of accomplishment. Here’s to trying more new things 😊
There's still time to sign up to our writing workshop with
@kb__rowne
happening today at 6pm✍️
Brush up on ya interviewing skills and ask her any journalist related question your heart desires!

I’m now deputy editor for the
@ThisisRiverside
sports show 🥰
SW london sports teams and SE teams close by, I want to tell your stories! From interviews with players, to amplifying staff that go above and beyond I want to hear it all!!! 📻 DM me 🫶🏾
I’m so sad to leave BBC Studios and the
@BBC_Reel
and features team but hopefully I can make bomb films/ write cool articles for them in the future🎞🎥 so thankful for the guidance they’ve given me💕
I was so incredibly moved by
#WakandaForever
- What a film! It was full of love, rage, sensitivity and warmth. The way it handled grief really resonated with me. My film of the year
The
#Oscars
are just a stone throw away!
I loved Wakanda Forever and like many had a lot of thoughts at the lack of nominations. Dir. Ryan Coogler told me that for him “the truest gift is being able to make the thing…to mark art” 🎬🎥🎞️
@BBCTalkMovies
I don't know about anyone else, but I sometimes feel an overwhelming anxiety-inducing impulse to be 'successful.' I don't even know what 'success' looks like in my eyes, but I'm getting better at ignoring the 'I should be doing more' thoughts 💬
Absolutely adored Sleepova at
@bushtheatre
and I’m so glad I got to see it before the final curtain close. Fantastic cast, brilliant writing and amazing storytelling. I left feeling seen🥹
