Dedicated single player mode, online multiplayer, new stadiums, different events, why does it even need to be that different? I can count the number of games in that specific genre on one hand. KAR happened and there hasn't been anything like it since

Aim for shorter development time and understand that the more games you release, the more successful each one will be. You need to spend 1.5 years or less on your first steam release, or your taking too huge of a risk. Of course, I know it's very hard to do this
Just as a note to all of the hyped up new followers, the air ride inspired game is being built to be a single player game and will have a lot of differences to compensate for that. I also want to keep the scope of this game small enough that I can make it on my own.
while I am not confirming a Robot-X 2 as the game has met very little to no success, I have made a sprite for Robot-X using a more accurate to his design style. (the first one is the new sprite the second one is the current sprite).

what do you think? I have plenty more art to make but I'm hoping the vibe is good, writing music that makes me think of the frontiers is hard so I went with ragtime-ish piano music.

Of course I'm inspired by the books I read and the music I listen to, but I'm not a writer, and I'm barely a composer. I'm going to make games for their gameplay and advertise them for their gameplay.
The best game developers in the past were well-read people who didn't actually play that many games. I can't think of a person less qualified to make a good design decision than someone who thinks playing video games is a "hobby" and who has 500 titles in their steam library

No more than 2 years, if your project is bigger than that, then you probably need a team or at least a partner. Plus if you take too long making games you won't be able to make as many.

The red one is better because it makes him seem more evil, not because red is evil, but because it fits into the warm colors of the level, making squid seem less out of place, and more like he is just part of the world, there to analyze everything you do

I think asset flipping is more of low effort using whatever assets you can get, but if you put in the effort to make your assets work in one cohesive art style and you make sure everything is of the same quality, it does not count as a flip.
did you know that challenge mode isn't just a hard mode? After The End of Robot-X challenge mode is unlocked in the arcade, it has new music for most levels and harder bosses as well as new thing like this truck! (there is also a secret boss)

I added co-op to my game, it was both a lot easier and harder than I expected at the same time. now you and your best friend (or younger sibling) can work together against the forces of evil**.
