We don't have to worship. We don't have to idealise the Buddha. All we need to do is learn from his examples, that's the real refuge I think, because there is no other better example than how he achieved his way.

Enlightenment is the complete acceptance of change. With this attitude, practice as well as you can. If it helps to think that you're practicing for all, then do that. But there's no need to practice with a sense of burden. All you need to do is use these means to accept change.
Thaye Dorje, His Holiness the 17th Gyalwa Karmapa, and Sangyumla Rinchen Yangzom, are delighted to introduce their newborn son Thugsey to you all today.

Try to let things be. Try to let the sun rise on it’s own. Try to let the sun set on it’s own. If you’re sick, let it be and try not to get too hung up about it. If you’re dying, just let it be, don’t try to fight it, because it’s natural. It’s not a bad thing at all.

In Buddhist terms, all of the problems in our society stem from a lack of understanding, a fear of the unknown. When we challenge this ignorance through logic, through reasoning, through tapping into our boundless internal resources of wisdom and compassion, we manifest hope.
One of the most important behaviours of a Bodhisattva is to always be kind, gentle, and a good example. Therefore, one of the many things that a Bodhisattva has to be very watchful of is his or her speech.

Karmapa shares birthday photos of Thugseyla and Sangyumla.
Thaye Dorje, His Holiness the 17th Gyalwa Karmapa, shares some private moments, on the occasion of Thugseyla’s second birthday on 11 August 2020.

When we look up from our screens, take time to meditate on the nature of our mind, we may see a world of hope. A world of loving kindness and compassion. Most importantly, we are able to calm our minds, respond with wisdom, and not react with anger or other afflictive emotions.
In life, it is normal to experience misunderstandings and doubtful feelings. When those experiences arise, we must not try to cover them up or suppress them – they are unstoppable. And so when they arise, we should let them rise on their own, and then let them fall on their own.
As Buddhists, our practice is one of wisdom & compassion. This compassion is limitless & universal. Our practice leaves no room for partial compassion, or compassion with boundaries. When we pray for the benefit of all sentient beings, this means exactly that: all sentient beings
Tomorrow, May 6th, is the 41st birthday of Thaye Dorje, His Holiness the 17th Gyalwa Karmapa. On this occasion, Karmapa asks his students around the world to practice the Guru Yoga of the 16th Karmapa.
Whatever you ask of a clock, it will not stop, even for a moment. Time is unstoppable, it is inevitable. And so it is with impermanence. In the end, the more we choose to push aside the reality of change, the more anxiety, confusion and dukkha will arise.

Karmapa has requested that his birthday, 6th May, be dedicated to prayers for our world during this challenging time.
There will be a traditional ceremony at Karmapa International Buddhist Institute (KIBI) in Delhi, in which 500 butter lamps will be lit.

We are all deeply connected. Every choice we make leaves an indelible mark on our world. And so let us choose the path of nonviolence. Let us choose the path of loving kindness. Let us choose the path of compassion, and let us be heroes in each other’s lives.

The purpose of human life is to realise the nature of our human condition and then find a way to accept it. This acceptance is understood as great courage, and as a result, someone who has accepted it is regarded as a great being.

I ask all of you, as all Buddhas and Bodhisattvas encourage us, to continue to focus on spiritual practice, which is the heart of our lineage - a practice of loving kindness and compassion.

We are change.

The very reason that we are able to generate Bodhicitta and reach enlightenment is because our nature is good and pure.
Even though right now our actions, speech and thoughts may be born from afflictive emotions, karmas and tendencies, our real self is superior to these things.
Although the experience of death is momentary, what makes it painful and difficult to imagine is that we have cultivated such a strong habit of suppressing its reality. Just like everything: when we suppress something, paradoxically, after some time it builds up a lot of energy.
Thaye Dorje, His Holiness the 17th Gyalwa Karmapa, shares the following teaching on memory:
There is no memory without concepts. And since we humans are the masters of concepts, we are generally quite fond of our memories.
And it’s true that taking a trip down memory lane can
We don't have to exhaust ourselves with our meditation. We practice until our mind is comfortable, take care not to exhaust the body, take short breaks, & then continue. In this way, it is more fruitful. Later, you can extend, but otherwise short sessions are better.

Everything is interconnected in some way. Although we are living ordinary lives, nevertheless we are all in some way or another connected with every sentient being in the world.
#Karmapa
There is no real way of knowing how far this path leads. We do not know how long it will take to find what we are looking for.
Try to develop patience in every sensible way. Patience means from time to time reminding ourselves that we are following a good path.
#Karmapa
When we practice, we do so to develop great experience, understanding, in order to go through challenges. We practice to gain experience so that, should we come across similar or greater challenges, we have accumulated experience and know how to go about facing them.
#Karmapa
May we all find a place of stillness, clarity & peace. This place of stillness lies within all of us. Our compassion & wisdom, our Inner Wealth, is unaffected by even the most extreme external conditions. No rain can dampen our inner peace. No wind can move our minds.

Just as food provides nutrition on a physical level, similarly by making aspirations we harvest the nutritional benefit of merit and wisdom. From a Buddhist point of view, merit and wisdom are the most important nutrition for the development of one’s consciousness.

Although the body decays at the end of one's life, the stream of one's consciousness goes further onwards, if there is a cause...then whatever the mind has learned or understood during one’s particular lifetime, all of that is never wasted or lost, it carries on forward.

Accept that pain is a natural part of life: from time to time we will go through pain, emotional turmoil & crisis, simply because all of these are part & parcel of our human existence. When we accept & attempt to understand painful experiences, we can learn & grow.

Our mind is never meant to hold on to dreams or hold on to samsara - whoever has a consciousness or a mind, it is naturally supposed to wake us from the dream and move forward towards enlightenment.

What Buddha was trying to say was this: try to let go. It’s not that life is real pain, that there is no point to life, that there is no meaning at all. He said that there is every meaning, but in order to find that meaning, all we have to do is let go, let things be.
