Fascinating way of visualising a cable pattern. Maybe not the usual way, but that's why it is interesting. Source: a mid-century Soviet learn-to-knit book (I can read basic, basic Russian).
Say hello to the Hyndland fingerless mitts, worked in Jamiesons Spindrift. We had the photoshoot yesterday and I'm now working on the pattern. So.. an early October release?

I follow cruise forums for exactly the same reasons: "One star. The Tuscany castle we visited on excursion had no AC. There were uneven cobblestones everywhere."
I have Very Complicated Feelings about knitting history. Many casual knitters are delighted to tell me about how cable patterns can identify drowned sailors, for instance. This has been disproven many times. I don't want to be That Person but also I am That Person.
Pals, if I design smthg in a standard yarn from a dyer who no longer dyes AND I provided notes ala "100% superwash merino, 400m/440 yds" - it'd be okay, right?
Just looking at my stash and hmm.
Knitting in public among non-crafty people is still fun. "What ARE you making?" - "I could watch you do that for hours" - "Is that knitting?" - "That is just fascinating to watch" and (my favourite) "That has to be witchcraft"
