If Matthews comes down it will be a sad day for us history nerds :( I’m sure its replacement will be very nice + eventually a great selling point for NU’s programs, but Matthews is special & it’ll never be the same. (not to mention 1-2 years w/ no home arena is a scary thought)

Rumors have been flying for months and we’ve heard both of these over that time. @MikeMcMahonCHN also reported on the state of the arena and the options at hand. At this point, fearing/mentally preparing for this reality as we await any official word from the University.

New @GoNUmbasketball commit! Well, sort of. I can report that Chris Doherty ( @cpd_chris ) will be returning for his 4th season with the Huskies next year! The big man has averaged 9.5/7/2 for his NU career so far and will no doubt be a big piece of the Huskies again next year.

The CAA continues to crumble. Delaware has been a CAA member since 2001 and was one of the conference’s strongest performing schools over a variety of sports. Have to wonder who could be next in the exodus at this point.

After going down 11 due to a disastrous scoreless streak of ~5 mins at the start of the 2nd half, the Huskies battled back to grab a road win at CCSU. A solid final 2 clutch minutes from NU as well, though still far from perfect. The Huskies are back in action on Dec 30 at URI.

Hard to overstate how big this win is to revitalizing Husky hopes. 1-2 vs 0-3 in CAA play is a mile wide gap. NU showed the ability to compete w/ the CAA’s best, despite a bad 2nd half. And Sakota’s return boosted the offense. Hopefully CAA games 1-2 w/o him were just an anomaly

Amazing year for the Huskies and it isn’t over quite yet. Tomorrow they’ll assuredly receive a spot in a regional, where they will play for a trip to the College World Series. I had a great week covering NU Baseball for @wrbbsports and can’t wait to see what else this team does.

News: It appears that The N Zone, Northeastern basketball's fan section, is making its 1st official appearance since before the pandemic at the @GoNUmbasketball game tomorrow. Home court advantage could potentially give the Huskies, who have been on the road since 11/16, a boost.
