It's everyone's favorite time of year: transfer portal season! This thread will catalog all players that Northeastern Basketball is publicly known to have contacted in the transfer portal.
As always, keep in mind "contact" can mean anything- text, call, Twitter DM, visit, etc.
I'm very excited to announce a project I've been working on for a good while now: Aurardle! It's a sports-themed Wordle game similar to MLB's WARdle and NBA's Poeltl, but featuring
@GoNUathletics
players! Give it a shot at !
Anyone who has ever wanted to buy a Northeastern basketball jersey-
@IV_BOSTON
is re-releasing their excellent Reggie Lewis throwback soon. Don’t miss it since last time they were available was back in 2018. It’s the best NU basketball uniform money can buy (player and look-wise)
New
@GoNUmbasketball
Commitment: William Kermoury!
Kermoury, a 6’5” G who plays professionally in Sweden’s Basketligen, is potentially a PG for the Huskies.
He averaged 15/10/4 for Sweden’s U18 FIBA team last year & 30/?/3.5 in the U19 Scania Cup in April.
Congrats to William!
@jon_bois
My prediction: Albert Belle
-Famously crazy guy who I'm sure has interesting stories
-He has a corked bat incident -> connects to Brett's pine tar incident
-Teammates with Jack Morris, 1994 CLE (Morris's final season)
-Teammates with Julio Franco, 1996 CLE
(continued in reply)
The
@GoNUmbasketball
season unfortunately came to a close last night, as did my time on the mic for the team for
@wrbbsports
. Just wanted to say thank you again to everyone who tuned in these last 4 years, and especially to the NU basketball program, SID Matt Houde, & Coach Coen.
One last ride from the Jack Grinold media center- senior day for Luka Sakota, Chris Dohery, Alex Nwagha, Glen McClintock, & also me.
Let’s send the elder statesmen off with a great game today- we’ll be live early for senior day festivities around 11:35:
Personal news: Last Friday was the final day of Software Engineering co-op with the Baltimore Orioles. Working for the team was an amazing experience and I'm super thankful for my time there, for my co-workers for taking me in, and for everything I've learned. Let's go O's!
My tenure as Sports Director for
@wrbbsports
ended over the weekend. It’s been an amazing and unforgettable 4 years for me at the station. I’m so grateful to have had the chance be a part of a really special club at Northeastern and to have been involved with NU Athletics. (1/6)
If Matthews comes down it will be a sad day for us history nerds :(
I’m sure its replacement will be very nice + eventually a great selling point for NU’s programs, but Matthews is special & it’ll never be the same.
(not to mention 1-2 years w/ no home arena is a scary thought)
Rumors have been flying for months and we’ve heard both of these over that time.
@MikeMcMahonCHN
also reported on the state of the arena and the options at hand. At this point, fearing/mentally preparing for this reality as we await any official word from the University.
New
@GoNUmbasketball
commit! Well, sort of.
I can report that Chris Doherty (
@cpd_chris
) will be returning for his 4th season with the Huskies next year!
The big man has averaged 9.5/7/2 for his NU career so far and will no doubt be a big piece of the Huskies again next year.
Hey Northeastern sports fans, I finally got around to starting a project in my backlog: the NU Sports Rabbit Hole! Going to share cool finds related to Northeastern sports here. Very excited to show the archived media & old websites I've found in particular. First post is up now!
Welcome to the Northeastern Sports Rabbit Hole! Here, I'm going to catalog and share archived media, fun facts, cool memorabilia, and more I've come across related to Northeastern athletics.
I've got a big backlog so going to try to post once a day for the time being!
Baseball may be America's pastime, but for Justin D., it's part of his education. Through his co-op with the Baltimore Orioles, Justin has been able to develop code for trainers and coaches to track athlete performance.

Welcome to the 2023
@GoNUmbasketball
offseason offers tracker! Over the next few months I will add any players NU has contacted in the transfer portal & any freshmen they offer to this thread.
Let’s do this one last time. My final game for
@wrbbsports
is today’s 2pm matchup between
@GoNUbaseball
and the UNCW Seahawks. Listen in as the Huskies try to get some revenge for last year’s CAA tournament! Pregame starts at 1:50:
New
@GoNUmbasketball
Commit: 6’8” G/F Kyle Squires!
Squires, who redshirted last yr at Lafayette & maintains 4 yrs of eligibility, hails from Kingston, MA.
He holds a record of 12 threes in one game at Northfield Mt Hermon HS.
Best of luck to Kyle this season with the Huskies!
Breaking News from
@GoNUmbasketball
: Redshirt Senior Guard Joe Pridgen has left the team for personal reasons. He is no longer listed on the team's roster page.
I’ve co-signed this before and I’ll do it again. Need need need this for hockey and basketball. Currently, if you want to learn even the most surface level stuff about Northeastern sports history right now it requires research which is silly. (1/4)
Incredibly envious of what Harvard did for the concourse here. Have been wanting Northeastern to do something like this for men’s and women’s hockey at Matthews for years
Personal broadcasting news- I’m going to be on air for part of an Aberdeen IronBirds (Orioles High-A affiliate) game tomorrow! Catch me on color & a bit of pxp for free here:
Or on “tv” if you have an At Bat or MLBtv subscription:
Hungry thought (it’s like a shower thought but instead of thinking of it in the shower I thought of it while extremely hungry): broadcasters should exchange signed spotting charts after a good game like a jersey swap
Found a friend for Levi! Very excited to add a 2021 Team USA WJC Sam Colangelo (
@scolangelo16
) card to my Northeastern sports card collection. Will be posting many more cool cards of (mostly former) NU hockey stars very soon!
@GoNUmhockey
The odds of this happening feel unfathomably low-
It took each of these coaches at least 15 years at their respective schools to reach this point. To have all 3 happen on the same day is insane!
The CAA continues to crumble. Delaware has been a CAA member since 2001 and was one of the conference’s strongest performing schools over a variety of sports. Have to wonder who could be next in the exodus at this point.
My custom basketball card of
@GoNUmbasketball
star
@TysonWalker13
is complete! Made in the style of the 2008 Topps flagship set. The print on glossy card stock came out really well, so I might do some more NU players soon!
Goodbye and ‘till we meet again to the king of the Beanpot. The first NU hockey player I ever learned about when I got to campus. A legend on Huntington Ave forever.
Gunnarwolfe Fontaine has entered the transfer portal ahead of his graduate year, per the Gopher Puck Live's tracker.
Fontaine had 97 points over four years at Northeastern, most notably with five goals and two OT winners in the Beanpot.
Little baseball interlude between the basketball posts: MLB Pipeline has
@GoNUbaseball
’s Mike Sirota as the 12th best college prospect for the 2024 draft!
Congratulations to
@GoNUmbasketball
star Jahmyl Telfort (
@SmoothXJah
) on winning CAA 6th Man of the Year! Here's my rendition of an iconic Boston rookie card featuring the standout freshman. Been working on card designs for a few more NU players; will be printed onto cards soon!
Huskies played well in all areas of the game today- defense, shooting, passing, rebounding, you name it. NU could be hitting their stride at the right time.
Up next is a tough home matchup against the defending CAA champion Charleston on Thursday
Had the privilege of doing commentary for many of these god gamers. Congrats to this semester's PR! Considering how small our room in Curry is, there might be more Melee talent per square foot at Sconefest than anywhere else.
Hello from Harrington Athletics Village in the far off land of Brighton! I’ll be on the mic as
@GoNUbaseball
tries for their first Baseball Beanpot championship in 11 years against BC at 5pm- listen in at
This has been a long rant for no reason but tl;dr an elegant but ultimately simple display like this Harvard one, not only in Matthews but in student view in a place like Curry, would do wonders for the future of Huskies sports fandom imo. (4/4)
My WRBB flyer posting analytics:
-40 flyers posted (AL record)
-37 weird glances (27% above league avg)
-2 ft of tape wasted by ripping it wrong (T-most since 2015)
-86 degree heat endured (up 9% from this day in 2013- this one’s true!)
-4.6 RAR (recruitment above replacement)
The
#1
missed opportunity rn for NU athletics (imo) is to put sports history stuff in visible places on campus. Not only is showing off NU’s accomplishments like this more effective marketing than “normal” marketing imo, but it’s also evergreen & requires little updating. (2/4)
After going down 11 due to a disastrous scoreless streak of ~5 mins at the start of the 2nd half, the Huskies battled back to grab a road win at CCSU. A solid final 2 clutch minutes from NU as well, though still far from perfect. The Huskies are back in action on Dec 30 at URI.
Northeastern’s Eric Yost selected 521st overall in the MLB draft by the San Diego Padres. Best of luck in the pros to the
@GoNUbaseball
rotation stalwart.
@jon_bois
-Rickey Henderson was the anti-Belle: fast while Belle was the definition of a power hitter, Rickey was weird and funny instead of weird and mean-spirited like Belle
(yup even more in the next reply!)
Alright we got two votes for the text on top + add the newer Husky logo and that's enough for me. I moved the logo to the left so the name block doesn't overlap the stick anymore.
Very happy with how this design turned out and to finish a card of the GOATender
@aerinfrankel__
!
Hard to overstate how big this win is to revitalizing Husky hopes.
1-2 vs 0-3 in CAA play is a mile wide gap. NU showed the ability to compete w/ the CAA’s best, despite a bad 2nd half. And Sakota’s return boosted the offense. Hopefully CAA games 1-2 w/o him were just an anomaly
New month, same portal: NU MBB’s latest contact is 6’4” grad G Matt Becht of SNHU (D2)
Avged 16.5/4/2.5 on 44/45/90, 8.2 3PA/game
One of my favorite players NU contacted in portal last year, but might be out of their league at this point. Three point marksman on HUGE volume.
Southern New Hampshire (D2) transfer Matt Becht has heard from the following schools, he told
@ThePortalReport
:
Maryland
UCLA
Virginia Tech
DePaul
George Mason
Temple
GW
San Francisco
Samford
Oakland
East Carolina
Hofstra
Northeastern
Elon
Bowling Green
Merrimack
Stetson
Siena
@jon_bois
-Roy Halladay's last game of the 2000 season (after which he was famously demoted to Single A despite his 3 years in MLB) was vs Baltimore. Halladay gave up 7 runs in 0.2 innings & Toronto lost 23-1. In the lineup for the O's that day, finishing out his final season? Albert Belle
Renders of a potential Matthews Arena II design have arrived.
It’s excitingly large & full-featured, but also, in my opinion, an eyesore. Need some dark wood color, glass, or white highlights to break up the silver/grey.
Hopefully more work to be done before design is final.
Building on this from
@NUHockeyBlog
, here is the proposed layout for the ground floor and lower/upper seating bowls for the new arena, as well as a rendering of the arena’s exterior.
So uh basketball is kind of not great right now but NU hockey is popping off (combined 9-0 yesterday!) so here’s another Northeastern hockey card. Joe Vitale was Northeastern team MVP in 07-08! I love the Crown Royale die cut designs so this is a fun one.
.
@SickosCBB
Northeastern appears to have forgotten Joe Pridgen’s
#23
jersey for their trip to Hofstra, so he is wearing the jersey of Shaquille Walters, who graduated last year (complete with Walters’ name on the back).
Yea this about sums it up. Another failed last two minute clutch situation by NU.
A great all-around effort though. Northeastern is so close to putting together a world-class 40 minutes, but they’re running out of time with just 2 non-conference games left.
We’re something like 360 days away from the 2024 MLB draft but I’m gonna have some fun RTing mock drafts leading up to it that contain a certain CF-
@GoNUbaseball
’s Mike Sirota is
#16
to Milwaukee in this mock. He’d be the 1st Northeastern Round 1 pick since Adam Ottavino in ‘06

@GoNUwbasketball
commit: Taylor Holohan!
A 6’1” forward from New York, Holohan is the Huskies first member of the incoming class of 2024.
She averaged 18/9.5/3 + 6 blk & 3.5 stl last season for Averill Park HS en route to the state semifinals.
Congrats to Taylor!
A win for Reggie Lewis’s birthday gives NU a 2-1 MTE. Could’ve been 3-0 without a poor final two mins yesterday, but NU has made big strides over the last week- especially the re-emergence of Chris Doherty.
Next up is a tough test at Princeton, who just got some AP poll votes.
Northeastern junior G Jahmyl Telfort enters the portal.
A Husky 1000 point scorer. Difference maker from his 1st game all the way ‘till the end. His leadership on & off the court was clear & will be sorely missed.
Thank you Jah. Wherever you transfer, they’re getting a star.
Northeastern guard Chase Cormier has transferred to Wofford.
Cormier was one of the highest ranked recruits of the 21st century for NU, but didn’t have the season he’d hoped for as a freshman. Best of luck to Chase in his fresh start in the SoCon.
Happy Halloween! 🎃
Go on and freeeeeze your braaaain. Care for a hit? 🎶
(If you somehow know who I’m supposed to be from this low-effort costume you’re cool as heck and have very good taste in movies/musicals)
-Sharron Young, 6’0” PG, Morgantown WV
@sharronyoung05
-Ebrahim Kaba, 6’8” SF/SG, East Orange NJ
@slimsn1per
-Nick Coval, 6’1 PG, Allentown PA
@nick_coval
These offers apply to 3 clear needs: shooting (evergreen need), PG (situation is a giant ?), and big man (Doherty grad)
Hey
@HomefieldApparl
if
@GoNUbaseball
beats UNCW in the CAA baseball conference tournament today whaddya say this gets collection gets complemented with some sick Northeastern Huskies gear 🤔
Pretty please?
Amazing year for the Huskies and it isn’t over quite yet. Tomorrow they’ll assuredly receive a spot in a regional, where they will play for a trip to the College World Series.
I had a great week covering NU Baseball for
@wrbbsports
and can’t wait to see what else this team does.
Fought til the end. Incredible championship outings for the bullpen, and an incredible piece of clutch hitting for Mike Sirota, but the Seahawks get the final out before the tying run comes across.
We'll be back.
#HowlinHuskies
In the year’s most important sporting event, BU falls short to the intrepid heroes of the Northeastern Huskies. Where have I heard that one before?
Proud of our squad for getting it done 🫡
FINAL: In the first-annual rivalry softball matchup between WRBB Sports and
@WTBUSports
, we came away with the doubleheader sweep!
Great effort up and down the lineup.
@eamonnryan41
picks up our team MVP for his key two-way contributions.
We’ll see you again next year!
News: It appears that The N Zone, Northeastern basketball's fan section, is making its 1st official appearance since before the pandemic at the
@GoNUmbasketball
game tomorrow. Home court advantage could potentially give the Huskies, who have been on the road since 11/16, a boost.
NZone is back!!! Revamped and better than ever we are getting ready for the 2nd home game of the season. Taking on Georgia State in Matthews arena
@2pm
tomorrow🐾🐾
NEW
@GoNUmbasketball
TRANSFER COMMIT: 6’5” G LA Pratt of Elon.
After recruiting him out of HS, the Huskies get Pratt the second time around.
Averaged 7/3/2 on 45/36/55 shooting splits last year as a soph (2 years elig left)
Excited to see what he can do with NU next season!
Can confirm that Chris Mack is expected to become the next coach at Charleston, per sources. Field of 68 first reported. He's the former head coach at Louisville and Xavier.
Does the average NU student know we’ve had multiple NBA champs? Winners of best men’s and women’s hockey player in the country? Multiple baseball round 1 picks? I think not. Why? Because there is literally no way to learn any of that without a Google search. (3/4)
Excited to add a Team Canada WJC Devon Levi (
@DevonLevi33
) card to my Northeastern Sports collection! This is the first NU hockey card I’ve added to the collection, but it certainly won’t be the last.
New
@GoNUmbasketball
‘24 commit: Ryan Williams!
Williams, a 6’4” combo guard from Malvern PA, had previously named a top 3 schools he was visiting that did not include NU, so this comes as a bit of a pleasant surprise.
Congrats to Ryan and best of luck at NU next year!
NU MBB portal phones still workin’ on the weekend: 6’8” F Dusan Neskovic of Dartmouth
Avged 16/4/1 last year on 43/36/75 spilts.
One year elig remaining. Another good 3pt shooter contact for NU, this time a wing. Att 6 threes per game last year.
Dartmouth transfer Dusan Neskovic has received interest from the following programs:
UCLA
Richmond
Loyola Chicago
George Mason
UCSB
Hawaii
LMU
GW
Utah State
Iona
UTA
Arkansas
HPU
Illinois State
Charlotte
Northeastern
ODU
Vermont

@GoNUmbasketball
transfer: 6'6" F Bryce Johnson!
Johnson, who played 3 years for Sacred Heart, put up a 10/8/2 line last year on 50% shooting while starting all 33 games at 27 mpg for the Pioneers.
Welcome Bryce and good luck this season at NU.
@NUHockeyBlog
With all due respect to most of these voters, who are trying their best to make a legitimate student poll, here’s some other head-scratching stats about this poll:
New
@GoNUwbasketball
commit: Alyssa Staten! A 6’4” center from Georgia, Staten is the second commit in the Huskies class of 2024.
Congrats to Alyssa and best of luck at NU next year.
Derin Erdogan of
@GoNUwbasketball
among those who have declared for the WNBA draft. Best of luck to Derin in pro proceedings!
Huskies currently have a former player declared for both the NBA and WNBA drafts at the same time- possibly a school first?
PORTAL COMMIT for
@GoNUmbasketball
: 6'9" F Sam Thomson, formerly of Colgate.
Last year, Thomson averaged 4.5/3/1 on 50% shooting. He has one year of eligibility remaining and is a grad transfer.
Thomson fills a need at center with the graduations of Doherty and Nwagha.
What a game and what a clutch shot by
@SmoothXJah
!
The heart-attack Huskies struck again with their 7th game decided by 3 points or less and this time it was a huge W at Matthews.
What did last night’s thrilling
@GoNUmbasketball
win sound like on WRBB Sports?
Listen to
@justindiament
and
@jordanwalsh_25
call Jahmyl Telfort's go-ahead jumper with 4.9 seconds remaining to complete the Huskies’ comeback.
.
@GoNUmbasketball
continues to round out their big freshman class with
@rashadking35
. King has experience at both PG and SG. Coach Coen may have 1 more roster spot to fill, but don’t be surprised if this concludes the off-season transactions for NU MBB. Congrats to Rashad!
Coach Bill Coen and
@GoNUmbasketball
continue to build their foundational 2022 freshman class with 6’5” two-star guard Rashad King from Evans, GA. King is the 4th guard and 6th player overall in the incoming class.
Another event to mark down on your calendar for Saturday,
@GoNUmbasketball
starts play in the CAA tournament.
@justindiament
previews it here while recapping this past season for the Huskies:
First known NU transfer portal contact of the season: 6'7 F Sean Trumper of Franklin Pierce (D2). Has 1 year of elig remaining.
Trumper avgd 19/8/2.5 on 45/36/87 shooting splits last season. Attempted about 2.5 threes per game.
Similar mold to Doherty?
.
@GoNUbaseball
’s Eric Yost is officially off to the pros after signing with the Padres for $150k. Huskies will miss him. Good luck in the minors Eric!
17th-rder Eric Yost signs w/

for $150k.
@GoNUbaseball
RHP, low-80s slider is best pitch, also has 89-92 mph fastball that touches 94.

Shoutout to

@jack_sinclair10

I had such a good time calling this tournament for
@wrbbsports
, a huge thank you to
@jack_sinclair10
for getting through it with me. Even though we fell a little short, it was a great ride, and the team will come back stronger next year! Go Huskies!
Update on
@GoNUmbasketball
incoming freshman William Kermoury (
@william5262672

Kermoury posted a 37/10/2 for Sweden’s U20 team in the Nordic championships after putting up 14/4/2 in the team’s opening round game (in which he was limited by foul trouble).
Back in the WIN column! ✌️🇸🇪
The Men's U20 NT bounced back with a victory vs. 🇳🇴 tonight in the Nordic Championship.
William Kermoury put on a clinic with 37 PTS & 10 REB, and Felix Broström scored 20 PTS.
