Lovely curiosity from Harkstead church, Suffolk. A piece of ashlar with window tracery. Was it a try-out for a now lost window, or just decoration? In any case, it’s delicious and easily missed by the casual visitor.

The USP of delightful Manordeifi Church is that it houses a coracle just in case the congregation is cut off by floodwater on the River Teifi. In recent years the floodwater has reached a height of 12 feet *inside* the church!

Today marks the publication of my latest book ‘Churches of Sussex’ available from your usual retailer. On Tuesday 23rd I’m giving a free lecture at St Peter, Preston Park at 7.30pm. All welcome.
