Very happy to announce that I've been named Co-Chief Art Critic at

Hey I'm on the
@artforum
masthead as a contributing editor! I don't even know what to say. A total honor and, funny story, I was passed over for a receptionist job there in the nineties. That's when I became a phone psychic.
I want to watch video art from the beginning not from the middle of the loop. It's rarely true that you walk into a gallery and it "doesn't matter" when you start watching. why do we accept this? Sign and share my petition
i've got a bad habit of breaking into the first person at the end of things. like i was hiding inside a cake for 2,500 words but here i am! it was ME writing this thing all along!
SURPRISE.
@letigreworld
is playing a show next summer in Pasadena. We haven't played a show in over 15 years. It is a festival. There are a lot of other really amazing artists playing.
I wrote about Niki de Saint Saint Phalle—erecting matriarchal monuments, assassinating Daddy, her perfume, her current NY retrospective—for
@artforum
's amazing May issue.
copying sacred texts by hand and drawing water from a well in exchange for like two baguettes a day and a private dorm room has always sounded ideal to me
My mom once turned the radio off in the car when papa don’t preach came on to explain why keeping the baby is not rebellious or smart and Madonna wouldn’t have a fucking career if she were a teen mother and I was like ok jeez but she wouldn’t turn the music back on.
"I despair of being treated with respect, let alone fairly, in your
pages," Andrea Dworkin wrote to the New York Times in 1987. Thank you to
@michelleinbklyn
for this thoughtful, fair piece about AD and
@DworkinBook
in the paper today!
I am all for feminist critiques of the sexual revolution but I see contemporary organized child rape in this country as the legacy of slavery and colonialism more than anything so recent. Also let's talk about the catholic church.
I love the new Artforum and am very proud to be in the first issue, but I loved the old one, too. Michelle championed my work and invited me to write my first feature. My writing has never been academic or hermetic; my voice was always encouraged.
A question for the good-faith critics of the “artforum letter,” who said they only wanted it to mourn the devastation of 10/7 and acknowledge the Israeli hostages too: who do you stand with now?
why would you want an abortion when, assuming you survive childbirth, you could leave your newborn at a police station without being prosecuted? sounds fine.
Seems like all artists ever wanna do is evoke, conjure, recall, depict, render, innovate, disrupt, abstract, execute, overturn, underscore, heighten, efface, or distill.
certainly there must be some new school riot grrrls who know how to generate barcodes, do sophisticated ticket forgery? i mean, what is today's equivalent to licking someone's stamped hand and pressing it to your own? maybe the bots are feminist hackers, nobody considered THAT
"This isn't harassment it's my dirty-old-man comedy routine!" Had to be reminded by Kathleen that Franken used something like that on me in a corridor in 2003/4. Unremarkable except for his fame, & that it happened in front of Chuck D and Janeane Garafolo, which embarrassed me.
Stop being an idiot about this. The artist Alexandra Grant has beautiful silver hair, which is extremely fashionable and NBD. Women of all ages in NYC are getting and loving this look, whether transitioning to their natural color or not. Book now at

rediscovers Margarete Schütte-Lihotzky’s Frankfurt Kitchen: “A distilled representation, as well as an authentic and transfixing specimen, of a traditionally feminine sphere that must be un-annexed to expand our story of modernism.”
Wearing air pods under studio headphones in my hot apartment so I can play guitar through a fake amp along with my band's songs on youtube. Actually think it's kind of a good way to rehearse for our first show in 17 years, which will be in a sports arena, or is it a stadium
The problem with taking a 2-3 hour break from Twitter is you have to google partner, meat diet, klaus beisenbach, showing id to buy groceries, skinny eyebrows
I’m always wanting to take Cassavetes out of the set because it’s so widely misunderstood and arguably somewhat Pablo-matic itself, if you will, but then someone writes that it’s their fave and so it’s a dilemma
tonight I raise a glass to 54,749 other small business owners who did not get a Verizon small business grant. I'm sure none of us will ever forget the great generosity of Verizon, and what an honor it was to participate in their PR event during a pandemic 🥂
