This feels like as good a time as any to disclose another critical Signal vulnerability I found. TLDR is that prior to mid 2021, Signal *didn’t delete* disappearing messages after they “disappeared.” So say you had a message from 2016 that you thought disappeared years ago, nope!

This is very tricky 1. Augur raised over 1M ETH when price was $0.7, converted almost all right away which would worth at least $200M now, missed the upside completely 2. If you build on Ethereum,by default you believe in its value. Selling off seems to conflict with that🤔️

#1 mistake in misunderstanding scalability (made this myself initially on) is assuming the main bottleneck is CPU. It’s not. First is networking/bandwidth, then disk i/o, then and only then is it cpu. The folks at @bloXrouteLabs understand this well

Signal has: - No bug bounty as far as I can tell - No proper public disclosure after critical vulnerabilities are fixed - Uses weirdly insecure email that governments can likely read for their vuln inbox - On (at a minimum their desktop app), messages weren’t deleted for years

Anyone whining about dapps not having users doesn’t understand transaction fees, scale/throughput, or liquidity formation. The latter can’t happen w/o the former two being solved, otherwise you can’t market make/trade, so what’s the point of using something?

@AugurProject released a *huge* update with v2. These contracts are now in the process of audited prior to deployment. Augur v2 + DAI + all the companies being founded to build on Augur ( @veil , @guesserio , & more) is going to quickly become the biggest ecosystem in Open Finance.

This tweet makes a classic probability mistake. The map on the left assumes Trump is guaranteed to lose all of WI, MI, and and PA, yet his @polymarket odds are only slightly below 50% for each of them. The odds that he loses *all 3* are far less than 100%.

1/11 The on reason I don’t think prediction markets are accurate yet, beyond their sector bias, is people are inherently bad at odds & pricing. Polymarket simultaneously predicts both Trump and Biden as the likely winners.

I think they’re competitors going after very similar markets. For some reason the ethereum community has always had this mentality that competition=bad so let’s deny that competition exists or jump through hoops to argue we’re not competitors

Ethereum is loosing its lead, but that is ok. I think Ethereum & Polkadot are highly synergistic. Nothing dishonest there.

Interestingly, since launch the sole metric that matters wrt to Augur has been steadily growing: open interest. Doubly interesting, that’s without dai, cheap crypto fiat onramps, or any scalability solutions. All 3 coming 2019.
