getting somewhat tired of waking up every day and seeing people in positions of authority not do the straightforward and sensible things to address the problem
Israel will begin to implement four-hour "humanitarian pauses" in northern Gaza each day to allow people to flee, the White House has said.
US President Joe Biden has been speaking about the pause to reporters.

Since their invention, cars and automobility have killed 60–80 million people and injured at least 2 billion.
Currently, 1 in 34 deaths are caused by automobility.
Cars have exacerbated social inequities and damaged ecosystems in every global region.
The corporate tax rate has shrunk from 38% in 1986 to 15% in 2008— and we're still waiting for the miraculous investment and job creation that was "supposed" to result.
It's time to tax corporations again, many of which were pandemic profiteers.
A meme account tweeted a fake headline that Costco was raising the price of their hot dogs due to inflation, and Costco's stock crashed 13%. You can't make this up.
Calgary is a driving city!! Absolutely everyone needs a car, maybe even two!! Just look at how efficient it is on snowy winter days!! Genius system that we should definitely never change!!

weird how he’s not taking this as a “market signal” to decarbonize our transportation system
consumer-end fossil fuel subsidies are absolutely the wrong call
Higher gas prices & carbon taxes, plus inflation, are making life more difficult for Albertans.
Our government will act in the days to come to provide relief to consumers facing higher energy prices.
We also need the Trudeau govt to cancel its planned April 1 carbon tax hike.
Had to say goodbye to my cat Gandalf on Thursday. He had a wrinkled ear, was extraordinarily affectionate, and would trill every time I entered the room. He will be deeply missed.
Athabasca University has been a distance-learning university since 1972, but now
@demetriosnAB
wants all 500 staff to move to Athabasca, a small town with a population of 2,805. This would increase the town's population by 18%.

would it be bad for me to suggest that the Canada Student Loans office is hamas. also my credit card company, they’re hamas too. in fact all the major Canadian banks are hamas, it’s crazy
"Many
@UNRWA
workers in Gaza are themselves members of Hamas. The time has come to bust the myth of UN supplied facts"
The Israeli representative at the United Nations launches a tirade against the UN, UN agencies, UN workers and UN officials
it costs $500 to launch a recall petition but it costs the city $30,000+ to process and verify it. good use of our resources, very happy the province made this possible
@djkelly
"a judicial recount is illegal wherever a municipality chooses to use voting machines rather than a traditional ballot count"
thanks I hate it.
sorry to hear this, DJ.
I think we should make Calgary’s roads a closed system to prevent road rage, drug use and impaired driving. Crime on Calgary’s roads needs to stop. Mandatory breathalyzer to start your vehicle, tolls, photoradar and checkstops everywhere. Motorists need to feel safe.
Huge announcement to improve Calgary's Deerfoot Trail!
Seven new bridges, additional lanes, and new interchanges between Glenmore and Anderson Road/Bow Bottom Trail.

a lot of smart people have followed me recently. please know that in addition to housing policy, most if not all of my tweets are jokes and please don’t contact my employer
People shouldn't have to eat cold fries, or a burger off the floor, or drink a pop without worrying about spillage becuz they won't pay for a bag or not be given a straw. Some fear what they will hear from kids if they can't buy Happy Meals cuz if there is a single-use box fee.
something very energizing about a CEO telling me that if I scrimp and save and deny myself all earthly pleasures I too might one day be able to afford housing
if you liked "this affordable housing project doesn't fit in our community"
you're going to love "this housing proposal isn't affordable enough to fit in our community"
lots of bad opinions on this website these days, like “the sudden violence is worse than the slow violence. and the organized state violence? much better than the non-state violence.” shut the fuck up
Parking is housing for vehicles. Vehicles are parked 95% of the time. Storage costs should be a major consideration when purchasing a vehicle.
Streets are public property. Street parking involves storing private property on public land.
a thing that’s disappointing about Anglo Canada is that they do April Fools but not Poisson d’Avril. Gluing paper fish on your friends’ backs, or sneaking seafood into inappropriate places: now that’s comedy
if ever there were a thing to regulate, it would be the internal distractions, height, and mass of these things. my ebike has a speed limiter but these things don't.
characterizing “enabling a variety of housing types” as “a one-size-fits-all approach” has got to be one of the dumbest repetitive talking points I have heard
couldn't sleep last night thinking about how Kenney blew $1.3 billion on the fucking Keystone XL pipeline but can't be bothered to buy HEPA filters and masks for kids and teachers in schools
we should have mandatory bus minimums. every home should have at least 1.5 bus stops attached to it. that way we know there will always be enough bus capacity
“the car is one of the most expensive household consumer goods, yet there is a limited understanding of its private and social cost per vehicle-km, year, or lifetime of driving.”
the post-political opting-out of voting entirely should be understood as as large a threat as the opposing parties. disengagement and depoliticization can sink an election. poll-chasing and focus-grouped market-based messaging doesn't seem to understand this
Good morning, housing morning. I am continuing to tweet about the

Community Development Committee meeting on the Housing Strategy. It is Friday Sept 15 at 9:30am.
@ABDanielleSmith
omg please stop with this weird scaremongering, let wind and solar projects proceed, and start addressing the fossil fuel industry’s $60+ billion in environmental liabilities
