I'll go first! I work on leaders in IR (from a dispositional rather than situational approach). My sense these past few days is that dispositional accounts of Putin largely seemed to get him wrong, viewing him as pragmatic and risk averse. I no longer believe that to be true.

My friend and colleague Bob Powell passed away today. Bob was an unequalled scholarly force, an incredibly generous colleague, and an intellectual hero to many of us including me. His memory will always be a gift to our field and to Berkeley. I will miss him immensely.
