At three o’clock Jesus cried out with a loud voice, “Eloi, Eloi, lema sabachthani?” which means, “My God, my God, why have you forsaken me?”
Thank you for the help.. decided against a halo, but there's still a glimpse of gold around the wounds in His wrists.Painting finished.
A Psalm a day...150
I'm not sure if I'm happy to have finished or sad that this has come to an end. There will be lots more work to come, of course, but my psalm sketch books are now closed.
No new Psalm tomorrow... but I'm sure there'll be something to look out for. A huge...
The Jesse Tree
I'll be back to the psalms tomorrow, but for today, I'd just like to wish you all a very happy Christmas. Here is my Christmas card... I hope that you all enjoy it.
The image is a reimagined version of the Jesse tree that can be found at
@stmaryspriory
Abergavenny.
Over the next few nights I'll be sharing some older work. This is an image of the Crucifixion. Can you see it? It's very subtle, but I promise it is there:-)
It's time to revisit the Psalms. I started this project over two years ago and I'll be completing the illustrations over the next few weeks... then it'll be time to start a new project. If you'd like join me for a Psalm a day... it'll be good to have you with me.

'Jesus Calms the Storm'. Jesus holds his arms wide as he hushes the rain, wind and waves. Peace comes from being with Christ.
Can you find the cross in this image? Most people don't notice it at all.
Painting 11 tomorrow
Agony in the Garden:
This painting portrays a 'dark' Eden rather than the olive groves of Gethsemane, reflecting the temptation of Adam. Look for Judas with the armed crowd and the trees that form crosses around Jesus, who is utterly alone. Psalm 44 later.
20/30
The Last Supper
7 oil lamps lead the way to the upper room where Jesus breaks bread for the last time. Herod's palace is in the distance.
21 tomorrow
4/30... the Nativity
Please click for the whole image. If you look carefully you'll see that the clouds are made of angels, guiding us towards the newborn baby Jesus. The star of Bethlehem is surrounded by all the colours of the rainbow... pure white light. Number 5 tomorrow.
I painted this image many moons ago. It depicts the crucifixion... really it does ... but you have to look very closely and it is very subtle. I hope that you enjoy it. Let me know if you can find it... or if you can't:-) Back to drawing tomorrow:-)
Work in progress:
This will be painting number 29 in the series, 'The Human One'. I have now been working on the paintings for well over three years. lots more to do on this one... I suspect it will take 6 to 8 weeks to complete. Hope you like it so far.
A psalm a day...121
This is my favourite image in the psalm series so far I think... though it does change daily:-) I have always had a devotion to Our Lady...a drawing through her eyes was so moving to produce. Lots more to come.
Psalm 122 tomorrow
The ink drawings that I have produced throughout Lent. They represent Psalm 1-46. I'm not ready to stop yet and I intend to work through every Psalm. I'll try and complete my 30 Gospel paintings too, so the frequency will drop a little, but the work rate won't.
Happy Easter!
Here's another update... a detail of my latest painting, 'the Crucifixion'. There's still a long way to go... but it is starting to take shape. I hope that you like it so far, hopefully it will be finished in time for Good Friday.
For Lent I am exploring the Psalms and illustrating them with an ink drawing each day. You are most welcome to join me on this mini pilgrimage. Today's illustration represents Psalm 32. Thank you for all the support and encouragement thus far. Psalm 33 tomorrow.

A Psalm a day... 111 (a small thread)
Of all the images so far this caused the most problems...here's a little bit about why. Each drawing is produced in a day... I spend a couple of hours reading the psalm, thinking about what it is saying to me at that moment, and trying to...
During this season of Lent I am going to illustrate a Psalm each day. I will try to post a mini ink drawing each day. This image is 7cm in diameter. To begin at the beginning... An excerpt from Psalm 1.

This is my final ink drawing of Lent and it represents Psalm 46, I hope that you enjoy it. Thank you for all your support and encouragement during this mini pilgrimage.

The Last Supper: Whilst I’m preparing to work on Psalm 43 today I’ve been adding a little gold leaf to this oil painting of the Last Supper. This will be joining the other paintings in the collection at
@StMarysPriory
shortly. But I’m not sure if it is finished yet.
A Psalm a Day...149
The Lord delights in his people.
Just one more to go and then I'll be starting on my next project. Thank you all so much... see you for Psalm 150 tomorrow.
A Psalm a day ...139
This psalm is glorious, it could be my favourite.
God knows my every thought, my every movement and hears my every heartbeat too... even to the last. He knows me from the beginning of time and he will remember me until the very end, and after.
140 tomorrow🙏
Work in progress: I usually apply a gold halo but I'm not sure if it will detract from the image... what do you think? I'll post it finished on Good Friday.
I'm drawing Psalm 90 today as part of my promise to illustrate the Psalms during Lent. Do join me along the way:-)
Sorry for my lack of updates of late, the Psalm drawings are on hold whilst I’ve been painting the Gospel images again. Here is another work in progress, the Ascension. Lots to do yet, but I’m getting there. Hope you like it so far... look for the angels in the light.
Lent day 3 mini ink drawing: I'm sorry this is a very late one and I'm sure that nobody will see it as the twitterverse is fast asleep, but I'm sticking to my promise of drawing a Psalm every day for Lent... Another one tomorrow.
15/30
"I Am"
There's a lot of hidden imagery in this one. It depicts a number of teachings, alongside the "I am" statements from the Gospel of John.... see what you can find:-) It also shows Mary Magdalene as the 'torchbearer'. Thank you as always 🙏
Painting 16 tomorrow.
A Psalm a day… Psalm 23
A truly beautiful and hope-filled Psalm. I hope that you enjoy the illustration and that it gives you a happy start to your Saturday. Psalm 24 tomorrow.

A Psalm a day... Psalm 91
How fragile we are and how mighty He is... but what potential we have too. He guides us as we glide through the wind, warms us as we grow and rains down on us to help us flourish, so we may bask in His light.
Psalm 92 tomorrow
Many thanks to all those who have taken the time to explore my work thus far. Today I’ll be working on psalm 25 - in the meantime, a painting from the Gospel series that I’m working on (30 paintings that explore the life, death and resurrection of Christ), Jesus Calms the Storm.
"Peace is Your Name"
Another seasonal painting tonight, inspired by our very own
@StMarysPriory
. I hope that you like it, it's one of my favourites:-)
A recap of the Psalm illustrations from 1-50. They started off as a promise to draw one a day during Lent , but I wasn't quite ready to stop. I intend to draw the remaining Psalms over the coming weeks and months... today I'll be working on Psalm 53.

A Psalm a Day...Psalm 147
Dad was a fellow of the Royal Astronomical Society, he was mesmerised by the universe and spent much of his life studying and drawing the moon. Reading this reminds me of him... he gave me his sense of awe and wonder and I am so grateful.
148 tomorrow
A Psalm a day... 141
I'd like to think my prayers rise like the dancing incense as the light streams through the windows in church. I'm not sure they dance... I don't think the psalms always dance either... sometimes they charge, stomp, scream and and shout too.
142 tomorrow
Psalm 23:
"The Lord is my shepherd"
Another of my favourites! If you were to read just one psalm, then perhaps this should be the one... and when you love this one... try the other 149 too:-)
Praise be to God... hope you are having a good weekend 🙏
Alongside the psalm illustrations I've spent the last four years+ painting 30 images of the the Life,Death and Resurrection of Jesus. I am hoping to post them throughout Lent this year. This is the Baptism of Jesus.
The paintings are touring churches large and small all ...
A Psalm a Day...95
How great thou art.
If you are new to this series, I'm posting a psalm a day... Each image starts with a 7cm diameter circle. I hope that you enjoy them. Thank you to everyone who has stuck with me for all this time... lots more to come.
Psalm 96 tomorrow.

Zacchaeus
Zacchaeus has left his sandals and his bag of money, and walks with Christ. There is no denying that the journey ahead will be hard, but he is called to follow that path.
Image 18 tomorrow
Still not quite finished on painting number thirty of the’ human one’ series but I’m getting there slowly. This one represents Pentecost, I hope you like it so far:-)
#pentecost
Here's a work in progress of the final image of the 'Human One' series... it represents Pentecost... a new beginning. Lots more to do yet but I hope that you like it so far. If you look really closely you will find lots of fish.
A Psalm a day... Psalm 51
The shell in this image was used along the Camino de Santiago and was used to baptise our daughter too, in this image it speaks of God's Grace and forgiveness.
Thanks for sticking with me on this little pilgrimage.
Psalm 52 tomorrow.
A Psalm a Day ..142
Imagine this picture without the line of gold... how different would the message be? The gold represents the divine that is manifest in every person. Each one of us can be a beacon of hope and love for those who wander alone and in darkness.
Psalm 143 tomorrow
Psalm 45...
A little change of plan in order to keep the images during Holy Week more relevant. This illustration represents Jesus, the servant king, sat on a throne of wood.
Another tomorrow and Thursday... then back to the paintings. Thank you for your continued support.

The Baptism of Jesus. Painting this image from under the waters of the river Jordan enabled me to illustrate His breath... the same oxygen atoms that we breathe today. The breath of God is quite literally in our lungs. I'm at

Many thanks for all of the kind comments, it is so good to know that you are still enjoying the series... there are lots more to come. I love my job, thanks be to God.

The first of two paintings that depict the Crucifixion today. The original is very large so it’s a bit difficult to see at this scale but hopefully you can zoom in and have a closer look. Another painting later today.🙏

Leading up to Christmas, I'll be posting a painting each day. They will tell the story of the Life, Death and Resurrection of Jesus (backwards), culminating with that holy night, some 2000 years ago in Bethlehem. I hope you enjoy this Advent Calendar (of sorts)

This depicts the Transfiguration and also the Holy Trinity. The figures are a mix of styles. God the Father is shown in the form of the Cosmos within a halo of gold. Can you find the depiction of the Holy Spirit? It takes a little imagination.
15 tomorrow.
Painting 29/30
Another late post... this one depicts the Ascension and echoes the story of Elijah's journey to heaven. I hope that you enjoy it. Thank you again for your overwhelming support🙏
A painting that represents growing up in the South Wales Valleys (Ebbw Vale). I see this one in so many different ways now but it remains full of faith.... possibly a good illustration for psalm 121... and he did watch over me... I see that now 🙏
Another image tomorrow
A psalm a day...119
Lord, let me live that I may praise you... and please forgive me for the times when I'm utterly rubbish at it ( which is almost all of the time to be honest). 🙏
Have a lovely weekend and thank you as always.
Psalm 120 tomorrow
Here is a work in progress for my latest painting, based on the first few verses of John's Gospel...In the beginning was the word. Lots to do yet, but I'm hoping to get it finished in plenty of time for Christmas:-) No pressure. I hope that you like it so far:-)
Another painting from the series, 'The Human One.'
5 I wait for the Lord, my soul waits,
and in his word I hope;

more than those who watch for the morning,
more than those who watch for the morning.(Psalm 130)

Psalm 91
Thanks for the response to yesterday's post, I'm so grateful to you all. Time to start a new project...more soon. Please pray for me... I have lots of ideas, but it's a huge task. Here' another psalm and shameless advert for the new book:-)

Psalm 5 tomorrow.
Here's an image of the Transfiguration... and the trinity too... if you look carefully. The fractured background represents 'a thin place' where the boundaries of heaven and earth are barely tangible. Jesus is pure light, the embodiment of the whole spectrum.
