Tonight a lot of people in Spain are feeling great relief. The politics of hate and fear have failed. Those who believe in a pluralistic, open and feminist Spain will sleep tight. Pedro Sanchez has done it again 🌹

My first salary as a *lecturer* at the University of York in 2018 was below this threshold. If the UK hadn’t been part of the EU, I would have had to leave the country. I am now British and hold one of the most prestigious fellowships in the country. It’s absurd.
We’re increasing the minimum earnings threshold for skilled workers by 48% to £38,700, encouraging businesses to look to British talent first and invest in their workforce.
Dreams do come true.
Two years after launching my book at

I’ve just read a pretty bad review of the book. Part of me is sad (it’s hard not to take it personally, I guess). But I’m also happy to be part of an academic discussion on a topic that I feel so passionately about. We live and learn. Seguimos.
Today I had to explained to a history professor that being Black in the UK today means that you are disproportionately more likely to be harassed by the police. Nice times more likely. He insisted that I was wrong, that “he knew the data” and that I was “making a fool of myself”
A ‘university’ that neglects and undervalues the humanities does not deserve such a name.
