A Universal Basic Income would not cause people to decide it wasn't "worth it" to work. You can't replace the intrinsic benefits of work. What it does do is allow people to consider OTHER work: entrepreneurship, art, child-rearing, etc. These have intrinsic value in society, too.

Reading through queries. One thing I've noticed is that many BB and PB queries feature extremely short pitch paragraphs. Like 2 sentences. This isn't enough. I need the problem and stakes, yes, but also the antics in between. Your pitch shouldn't be shorter than your bio.

In the #pb publishing world, the question I hear asked most often is, "Do author/illustrators have a better shot of being published than authors only?" According to Publisher's Marketplace, no. But the vast majority of agents that represent picture books ask for a/i subs only.🤔

I'm down to 150 unread queries, and I'm mostly all caught up on client work, so that means I'll be zeroing in on finding a couple new clients/projects to rep. I'm hoping to find more YA and MG especially, but I won't say no to a killer BB, PB, or CB concept. #amagenting

Just received an email from an agent I subbed to. It took me a minute to actually open it because I was certain it would be another rejection. When I finally opened it, it was a rejection. But it was the most hopeful rejection I've received to date 💖

@TrueConsolation ... You just told people, in a blanket statement, not to talk negatively about their spouses, but what if they are being abused and don't know it? How will they know if everyone just tells them to stop saying negative things about their spouse? Who will tell them?

I've been thinking about this. Would anyone be interested in an event where I take super short BB and PB pitches and turn them into more robust pitches? Maybe a SM live, webinar, or limited podcast? I could request real examples from creators, or use published books as examples.

Reading through queries. One thing I've noticed is that many BB and PB queries feature extremely short pitch paragraphs. Like 2 sentences. This isn't enough. I need the problem and stakes, yes, but also the antics in between. Your pitch shouldn't be shorter than your bio.
