Yes, airlines get fined, and I’ve used the law to get vouchers from airlines, DMing them on Twitter while I’m on the plane so there’s a record of the conversation. Rightfully so — usually while on the tarmac it’s tray tables up, seatbelt on, no bathrooms.

But you can also choose to just accept it and do nothing, most people do which is why they never get compensation and I almost always do.
