1/ Why do we need blockchain? What problem is it solving? It's all about trust. Commerce relies on 3rd parties & central authorities (i.e banks) to: 1. Issue & control the supply of money 2. Verify transactions 3. Mediate disputes & fraud This gives them a lot of power.

10/ NFTs NFTs, or "non fungible tokens", are a way to express digital ownership. A non "fungible" token just means it's one-of-a-kind. If the world is moving online, and we're becoming digitally native - we need a way to distinguish "mine" from "yours". NFTs solve this.

16/ Instead of keeping the record on a single computer, let's keep a copy of the record on *all 4 computers*. Everyone involved gets a copy. If someone wants to add a transaction, the two parties sign and broadcast it to everyone else. Everyone else then updates their copy.

11/ We need a leap of faith to solve this. Instead of settling in $USD at the end of the month, what if we "invented" a new currency? Let's call it "friend dollars" (FD). Let's assume everyone gets 100 FDs to begin. Transactions in the record are logged in FDs.
1

28
@jeet25_m
Jeet Mehta

8/ What if we introduced the idea of signatures to solve for this? Anytime there's a transaction that involves you, you would have to sign off on it for it to be "valid". In the example above, Sally cannot add "Anna pays Sally $5" without Anna signing off on it.

2/ Then came "web1" web1 was read-only. Static pages with text and images. There wasn't really a way for you to interact or "write" to web1. An important consequence of this is that web1 didn't capture any user or state data. It had no memory, and no knowledge of you.

He sat me down, and said: "Jeet. Look, no one knows you. No one expects anything from you. If you made 0 every game and went home, people wouldn't bat an eye." "Um..." (not sure if he's helping me or tearing me down) "Use this to free yourself." Huh?

8/ The Internet (& web1) was built without the ideas of identity or trust. There was no "native" way for me to verify who I am, or what I own. And have that verification carry over seamlessly between websites. So web2 built around this.

I failed at buying my first NFT. Everything on OpenSea looked great, until I saw the $9k worth of ETH transaction fees. Then, I went to SolSea. Now I have 5 SOL NFTs. I’m just one person. This is happening at scale. SOL > ETH 🚩🚩🚩🚩🚩🚩🚩🚩🚩🚩🚩🚩🚩
