Colorful corn (Zea mays) seeds from various cultivars, some of these are known as ‚glass gem corn‘. I must try to do some colorful popcorn next season. (The seed coat appears to retain the same color when it bursts open, the inside is white as with all maize varieties)

These 5Mio+ year old fossil walnuts and hickories from Europe are very similar to modern relatives from North America. Before the Ice Age(s), several species of Juglandaceae were native to Europe and became extinct during the glaciation. Specimen from France and Germany.

5+ million year old #walnut and hickory fossils ( #Juglans bergomensis & #Carya globosa and others) from the Rhine Valley in France. They went extinct with the ice ages. Similar species today occur in North America and East Asia.
