I haven’t upgraded camera equipment in 6 years, simply because college is expensive. Young creatives, it’s perfectly okay to not have the newest equipment like professionals. Build your skills & story because the angles, editing, emotion, details, etc will speak louder.

To be in the sports industry, you must have experience. However, the financial cost of apartments, hourly wage & cost of living for experience does not equal out. Sadly, this has been one of the biggest factors of not applying to some internships opportunities I would LOVE

One advice I have for students: Go have a life ON CAMPUS — join clubs, meet new people, find a cool hobby. I wish I did so much more on campus. Your sport internship can still be a priority w/o taking over your life. You’ll be working all the time when graduating.
