If anything, this is a step DOWN for Pakistan.
Statue of the Secular Sikh emperor of Punjab has been uprooted from his capital and his love, Lahore — after it was vandalised multiple times — and reinstated inside the premises of a Gurdwara…. (contd)
The Pakistani government has honored the first Sikh ruler of Punjab, Maharaja Ranjit Singh, by erecting a statue of him at Gurdwara Sri Darbar Sahib, Kartarpur, which was unveiled during a ceremony coinciding with his death anniversary, and attended by Sikh pilgrims from India

I didnt see many Ik Onkar tattoos from that era though.

The Shiromani Gurdwara Parbandhak Committee has laid down a colour code for the Sikh religious flag, the Nishan Sahib. Gurdwaras around the world have been asked not to use Kesri (saffron) for the Nishan Sahib & instead use traditional Basanti (yellow) or Surmai (greyish-blue).
This US professor’s cross-border return journey from Lahore to Amritsar was a ‘Pilgrimage of Love’.

Sikhs, indeed, can't bear the cost of this langar. It's Guru Ramdas Ji sacche paatshah who themselves run this langar, like many across the world. 😊
But the “Ram” here in 57th salok is that all-pervasive Lord God (jo saareya vich rameya hoya hai//Jyoti Sarup One Lord)
The reason? For this you need to look at saloks 50 & 56.
50th says- “Ram Gae-o Ravan Gae-o jaakao baho parvaar, kaho nanak thir kachh nahi supne jeo sansaae”
Absolutely loved

, but who can tell me a bit more about the history behind the folklore and the original folk song/saying?
Found this one article linking Arjan Vailly to Hari Singh Nalua’s son Arjan Singh Nalua
It is the 50th Salok that talks about Dashrath Putra Shri Ram Chandra, and not the 57th Salok.
In slok 50 SGTB says both Shri Ram and Ravan perished, everyone who takes birth shall perish away. The world is like a dream.

Miss them everyday, always grateful for all they ever taught me.
The Slok 56 gives more context. It is the Naam (the Name of the God) that stays till eternity.
“Naam Raheo Sadhu Raheo, Raheo Gur Gobind”
And the same Naam (in 56) which stays forever, is the Ram Nam (name of all-pervasive lord) which Guru Sahib remembers in the very end (in 57).
A very well-drafted statement, indeed. Agreed. Also talks about our exclusivity as a niara/unique panth, and our inclusivity as fellow citizens/fellow dharmics.
Altho still unclear about the visit, but that seems like a non-issue, at least for now.

If SGTB were talking about the same Ram in both 50 & 57, the sloks would be in contradiction to each other.
How can the same Ram who is said to be “Gae-o” (perished) in 50, can be called “Rahe-o” (stays for eternity) in 57?
It would have been contradictory. So that’s not the case
