Border Guard: “why were you abroad”
Me: “PhD”
Him: “in what?”
Me: “political science”
Him: “oh what kind?”
Me: “security studies”
Him: “what’s your topic?”
Me, internally: “mate please don’t make me say ‘nuclear weapons’ at the airport.”
I created a spreadsheet with 600+ resources for folks trying to build a career in the WMD policy space. Resources include everything from facts on arsenals and treaties to fellowship and education opportunities.

I am so so so thrilled to announce that starting this August, I will be attending the University of Oslo where I will be pursuing an MA in Peace and Conflict Studies. I’m so thankful for my time at CNS, but am also very excited for this new adventure! See you soon, Norway 🥰🇳🇴
I think my favorite conference interaction happened last night. A German engineer told me “ja I have seen your tweets but I do not follow you because I do not think it would help my career.”
I'm excited to announce that I was selected to participate in the
@csisponi
Nuclear Scholars Initiative! I'll be conducting research on how to apply data analysis methodologies to issues of nonproliferation and arms control.
I’m ecstatic and incredibly honored to have been selected for the 2021
@iaeaorg
Marie Sklodowska-Curie Fellowship Programme.
If you’re a woman in nuclear considering, or enrolled in, grad school, I highly recommend checking this fellowship out:
I’m delighted to announce that I’ll soon be joining
@NuclearOslo
as a PhD research fellow in political science. I’ll be studying strategic stability, emerging tech, and regional geopolitics with Arctic and East Asian case studies.
Excited to get back to sunny Norway 🇳🇴
Elbridge Colby has blocked me, and tbh I am glad because he is literally the last person on the face of this entire godforsaken planet who I want to hear from re: NATO implications of the Roe v. Wade decision.
I’m not sure some of my fellow national security professionals recognize women as equal citizens, nor appreciate how profoundly damaging this radical undermining of women’s rights, bodily autonomy, and reproductive healthcare will be to US foreign policy, interests, and standing.
I wrote a rather personal piece for

here:
TLDR: the natsec space deals w serious topics on the daily, yet is incapable of speaking openly about mental health issues. It’s okay to not be okay, and it’s time for us to talk about that.
I think my favorite interaction of the year took place last nice. I was buying two Oslo-expensive drinks at the bar as a man was telling me how my degree will never earn me money, and then his card was declined.
Oppenheimer was very good. I cried. I held my breath. I laughed. I whispered the answers to obscure Nuclear references to myself.
Overall it is a yes from me.
an actual conversation I just had on the street when a woman asked for directions:
Her: “also do you want eternal life?”
Me: “no im good thanks”
Her: “but you’ll go to hell”
Me, without thinking: “yeah, that’s okay, I have a few things I wanna ask Kissinger.”
*me giving a presentation on osint things*
My brain: “please please please don’t say it. You’re a professional.”
Me:
Me:
Me
Me: “...... and that’s how you find sketchy shit.”
tired: getting more young/new/fresh voices involved in the national security field.
wired: taking better care of the young/new voices that are already in the field.
Today, I'm very excited to launch a three part series on North Korea's uranium conversion capabilities. This first part provides an early historic review of NK's conversion activity before and during the Agreed Framework years.
Give it a read here:
🚨The third and final piece of my series on North Korea's uranium conversion is now live!🚨
It's a bit of a behemoth because it dives into the chemistry, though it's my personal favorite of the series as it's all about process.

Are you a nuclear/WMD professional who is interested in learning more about how to 'do' OSINT? Would you have time to fill out a 5 minute max. survey in the coming weeks?
If so, dm/email/respond to me here! I'd love to hear from policy professionals, scientists, and academics!
I am truly SO honored to have participated in the
@UN_Disarmament
#Youth4Disarmament
Leaders for Tomorrow program. While I had to leave early, I’m so impressed with my colleagues & all of their amazing projects. Thanks very much especially to Marykate and Soo for their hard work!
Father’s Day is actually about realizing that apparently most of your friends from high school are already dads, and you’re still single and just know a lot of things about very big bombs.
It's intern season! Here's my favorite intern advice:
1) no one knows what they're doing when they first graduate college; if they look like they do, they're probably faking it
2) protect. your. energy. your health & mental health come 1st & sometimes its better to do less
It’s been soooo long since I’ve posted a cooking pic so here you go. My ideal sandwich: Steak with caramelized onions, sautéed mushrooms, blue cheese, on an Asiago baguette
Thrilled to have been selected as a Leader for Tomorrow with the UNODA Youth for Disarmament program.

research fellowship! I’m very much looking forward to the upcoming seminars.
I noticed nuke twitter was getting super wonky last night, especially in regards to Sohae.... SO, being a lot of young/new nuke people follow me, I thought I'd make this quick infograph on how to use Twitter as a learning tool. Hopefully this makes the convos less intimidating
I'm so very delighted to announce that I got hired!!!! Starting today, I will be working as a RA and Office Manager at
