I recently submitted a paper written with a PhD student who will be on the market this Fall to @The_JOP . It sat at the "manuscript submitted" stage for more than 5 weeks before I pulled it today and sent it elsewhere. Outrageous. The next editorial team has to be better.

Almost simultaneously hit 1400 followers on @JPIPE_journal and 1000 followers on @JHPE_journal . I'm very pleased with how they have evolved thus far. Thanks to everyone who has contributed to them and all the "fellow travelers" on Twitter. @now_publishers

Back in the day, the House used to fight about -- and have multiple ballots on -- the election of the Chaplain of the House! House organization politics used to be really crazy. See my book with @cstewartiii for some of these great stories:

New (short) paper with Heonuk Ha (USC PhD student): "Do Presidents Favor Co-Partisan Mayors in the Allocation of Federal Grants?" Heonuk will be on the job market this Fall. He works on American institutions and fiscal federalism. He'd be a great hire!

. @t_r_gray and I just signed a book contract with @OUPPolitics . Tentatively titled "Voter Disenfranchisement in the United States." It will be a PE analysis/history. Look for a full draft in a year or so. Here's the first (updated) paper from the project:

Nice example of the Hotelling (1929) result, with two fruit carts placed on either side of the walkway near the pier in Santa Monica.

At some point, I'm going to get back to my Civil War congressional research. Below are W-NOMINATE scores by session (6 in all) of the Confederate House, using past party affiliation to track members.
