It’s nearly 2 years since I got #covid & started my shitty journey. But I’ve had solid #longcovid improvements recently & the crashes have eased off a lot 🙏 To ‘celebrate’ improvements I’ve taken a Bowie classic, Life on Mars, & given it a twist. I give you… Life with SARS

Here’s the annoying thing. I was perfectly healthy when I caught covid last year. I now have a permanent heart condition because of it. Which means if I catch covid again and it kills me, people will say, ‘Oh yeah but he had an underlying condition!’ #LongCovid

When I first saw my GP re #longcovid he told me about post-viral illness and how complex it was. He then said ‘Even though I can’t help much I can assure you your symptoms are real. If anyone tells you they’re in your head, just ignore them’ -This was important to hear back then.

There is no point in warning people about #longcovid . They think: 1. It can’t be that bad 2. It’s temporary 3. My doctor will help 4. It’s just tiredness 5. It’s in your head. One time I felt I should warn people, but the futility of doing so means I can’t be bothered anymore.

My take. #longcovid is not one condition. it’s caused by a combo of: microclotting and endothelial damage, viral persistence, reactivation of old viruses, nerve damage, auto-immune response & more… Unfortunately I don’t think there will ever be a ‘one cure fits all’ solution

I initially created my Twitter account to promote a book I wrote. I managed to get about 200 followers! Then I got covid and #longcovid and started tweeting (almost exclusively) about my experience. Today I reached 10,000 followers. This is not a good thing 😞😞

It’s #longcovid awareness day. So what do some idiot journalists do? Minimise & deny #longcovid Thanks for nothing, assholes. I hope those responsible for spreading this narrative end up with Long Covid. Then they won’t be long changing their stupid fucking minds. End of rant.

I'm 49- I've been ill for a year with #longcovid but when I read of kids & teens & young adults with the same affliction, my heart goes out to them. LC is life changing but at least I've lived a life. When you're 9 or 15 or 20 this is the last thing you should have to deal with❤️

I am officially broken. My 15 year old has spent nearly 2 years disabled with #longcovid . He’s double vaccinated, we’ve been shielding and he’s just tested positive for the third time. For him that’s not 2 weeks *mild*. He’s sobbing his heart out 💔

Hey all, let’s have your #LongCovidSelfie … it’s just like a regular selfie only you must place one hand firmly against your forehead (as this is how the media & journalists recognise and portray #longcovid / #ME / #MECFS ) Remember no ‘hand on forehead’, no posting!! 😂😂

It is my fervent hope that #omicron causes less #LongCovid than earlier variants. Its transmissibility is so high that huge numbers of people are bound to catch it. I pray that as few as possible will be left with the after effects that I and many other #longhaulers have been. 🙏

@caslernoel I’m always amazed that there was no big fuss over the way he said ‘take her out’ regarding Yovanovitch. If you want someone fired you don’t use that expression. It really only means one thing.

Question. Does anyone know anyone who thought #longcovid was ‘all in people’s heads’ only to then end up with long covid and realise they were wrong? I’d love to know what happens when the minimisers get hit with this thing themselves!

6/8 I asked if I could relay this story here because I don’t believe enough is being said in the mainstream media (and in our everyday conversations) about the cardiac side of #covid and #longcovid .
