With the devolution agreement, our decisions, our resources, our opportunities are in our hands – for Nunavut, by Nunavut. AANGAINNIQ – a clear purpose!
Happy International Inuit day! The Inuit Circumpolar Council created this day to recognize Inuit leadership globally and to celebrate our culture and the Arctic environment that we call home. Our government is working hard to make Nunavut a territory that reflects Inuit values.
Today was a big day for Nunavut and I felt so proud to represent Nunavummiut. We will soon begin three years of transition, then final decision-making about resources on our public lands will be in our hands.

Happy Black History Month! This painting is a favourite of mine. It hangs outside our cabinet room and is regularly commented. Artist Kenia Pike of Whale Cove was 14-years-old when the Nunavut Black History Society gifted her painting to the Legislative Assembly in 2019.

Affordable daycare is now a reality for Nunavut. We are the first to see $10-a-day child care under the new federal agreement. Thank you to Minister Pam Gross and Minister Karina Gould for making this happen for families. A key priority of our Katujjiluta mandate is achieved.
Today, Nunavut becomes the first jurisdiction to reach $10-a-day child care since signing an agreement.
Three years ahead of schedule!
In Nunavut, and across Canada, our plan for child care is working and making life more affordable for Canadians.
