Walls - Tom Petty and the Heartbreakers cover.
Always loved Tom's songwriting. Hope we did it justice!

Here's my cover of the John Lennon song Working Class Hero.
Whether as part of the Beatles or as a solo artist, John's songwriting has always been one of my biggest influences.

Today is the 40th anniversary of Bruce Springsteen's Nebraska.
The lyrics on this album are among his very best.
Characters on the fringes of society. Raw, unsettling narratives.
Bleak but also beautiful, this is the record I return to most.
Here's my take on the title track.

John Tiller - This Land is Your Land.
(W. Guthrie)
The timeless lyrics serve as both a celebration of America's natural splendour and as a thoughtful reminder to live up to it's most hopeful ideals.

This week I recorded a version of the Tom Waits song No One Knows I’m Gone.
As with a lot of Tom's work, it’s incredibly beautiful, haunting and mysterious all at once.
I’ve changed the structure and instrumentation a bit. Hope I did it justice!
New video! 🙌🙌🙌
Here’s my take on the Arctic Monkeys song Love is a Laserquest.
I like how the lyrics are seemingly playful and nonchalant at first but in time, the story reveals itself to be heartbreakingly sad.

As promised, here’s a live version of my song “The Sky is High & The Ocean is Wide”
(Guitar geek info) - I’m playing a Gibson ES-335 and Adam is playing his sweet sounding Duesenberg.

Here’s my cover of Leonard Cohen’s ‘Tower of Song’.
As artists we look up to the masters of the craft, those who came before us.
It’s comforting to think that they too had their heroes & inspirations.
Hope I did this one justice.

Hi! My new song “The Sky is High & The Ocean is Wide" is now streaming on Spotify!
For this one I experimented with elements of Psychedelia, Shoegaze & Dreampop.
Here’s a 2 min Twitter snippet.
I’d love to know what you think!

Here’s an acoustic version of Battle Ready. I went for a different arrangement on this one, so I’d love to know what you think.

“It’s All Over Now Baby Blue”
The Grateful Dead, Joan Baez, The Byrds and Joni Mitchell have all covered this song over the years.
The imagery (somehow both vivid and ambiguous) continues to intrigue and inspire me.
Let me know what you think of my version below!

An acoustic rendition of my song Last Goodbye.
A very personal song for me to write and perform.
I hope the stripped-back arrangement will suit the mood and allow the more intimate moments of the song to come through.

NEW MUSIC!
Hey folks, here’s a new original song called Almost Gone.
The full version is on my website, but Twitter lets us post up to 2.20, so here we go! :)

There’s something so magical about recording at night. I love it. Time just seems to melt away and the music flows.
This guitar in particular seems to love midnight sessions!
Twitter! I’ve recorded a version of Bob Dylan’s beautiful song Farewell Angelina.
It’s intended to be as close in spirit to Bob’s 60’s work as possible so we recorded it live, with just a single acoustic guitar in one take.
Let me know what you think!
Last night I saw Bob Dylan AND Neil Young play live.
The show was incredible. To be able to see two icons sharing the same stage was a truly magical experience.
It’s got me super inspired, so my lyric book is filling up rapidly right now!
”Darkness at the break of noon
Shadows even the silver spoon
The handmade blade, the child's balloon
Eclipses both the sun and moon
To understand you know too soon
There is no sense in trying”
The man opposite me on the train is eating quinoa.
I am a simple person and this word confuses me.
I tried to use my phone to find out how to pronounce it and it basically screamed “QUINOA!!!” to the whole carriage as my volume is on 100.
Now he’s staring at me. 😬
The Boxer hangs up his gloves 😔
So glad I was able to see him live a few times.
The Hyde Park gig with Ladysmith Black Mambazo in 2012 was incredible.

Man goes to Wales and soaks up spirit of Dylan Thomas. 🏴
This is the writing shed where he crafted many of his most celebrated works!✍️😊
You can see from the view why he found this place so inspirational.

Mine is PJ Harvey. 🙌🎸🙌
Bob Dylan’s manager: “Bob you’re 78 and have just completed a massive European tour. Do you just wanna chill for the rest of 2019?”
Bob: “Nah man, I’ve got a lot of songs, go ahead and book North America as well”
How does he keep doing this?Incredible!🙌
Great piece here on Carol King.
She’s an amazing songwriter. It’s right what James Taylor said about some songs seeming like they have “always existed”.
The great writers have this ability to just pluck songs from the ether.
She’s one of the very best.
Does an hourglass get ever so slightly faster the more times it’s used?
I mean does the sand erode the sides of the hole in the middle that then allows for more sand to pass through?
(No, I’m not high) 🤫
It’s dinosaur fact time! 🦖
The amount of time between the existence of the Stegosaurus and the Tyrannosaurus rex is larger than the amount of time between the Tyrannosaurus rex and now.
Today we remember John Lennon.
When I was first learning guitar and exploring the craft of songwriting, I was obsessed with The Beatles, especially John. Even now in 2019, any musician who writes songs benefits from his influence.
What’s your favourite John Lennon song Twitter?
I love listening to early
Bruce performances, all the elements of his golden period are there, just a little unpolished and raw.
I wonder if he knew what he would become?
Fascinating stuff.
