After Tulane had 6 different players score the first 6 TDs, Ty Thompson runs in his 2nd score in a Tulane uniform. Surprisingly, he never rushed for a TD at Oregon in his 3 seasons, 2 of which behind Denver’s heralded rookie QB Bo Nix.

Tulane will not play UTSA next year and will host Memphis. Memphis will be Tulane’s only opponent that was above .500 in conference play this season. The Wave will have a clear path to hosting the AAC Championship Game for the 3rd consecutive year.

Ethan Head, a Kohl’s 5🌟 kicker, committed to Tulane. The Shriners Illinois All Star Bowl Selection is also a 4🌟 punter, and is considered to have elite kick offs. Head has a 4.0 & scored a 1410 on the SAT. The #23 K in the nation will be the 33rd player in Sumrall’s 1st class.

Here’s my takeaway: Today’s ending felt similar to Tulane vs FAU🏀. Fans wanted to storm, the team played great on national TV, and neutral fans thought Tulane got a bad whistle and was robbed at the end. The next home game, TU🏀 beat a top 10 team. TU 🏈 gets Oklahoma in a week.

Tulane Head Coach Jon Sumrall spoke on Monday about Mensah Mania: “We’re in for a really cool experience watching this young kid become a big time college quarterback…He works incredibly hard, he’s a great teammate. There’s going to be adversity…He’s crushed…and he’ll learn.”

Chris Rodgers is the 4th Troy transfer to commit in the last 26 hours. He will likely take Jared Small’s place in the LB rotation. Tulane edged out two former AAC teams that moved to Power 4 conferences: Willie Fritz’s Houston and Cincinnati. The freshman played all 14 games.

Rusty Whitt is expected to take over as Tulane’s Strength & Conditioning Coach next season. The former Senior Special Forces Communication Sergeant in the U.S. Army will soon be a fan favorite in Uptown. He spent 4 seasons in this role at Troy, 2 of which under @CoachJonSumrall .

Three time Tulane captain Sincere Haynesworth signed with the New England Patriots yesterday. He joined the practice squad after a successful tryout. Haynesworth was on campus last week and was a major part of the largest turnaround in college football history. 3x All-AAC too.

Terez Traynor has chosen Tulane over at least 10 other programs. The 6’3” WR had 50 rec for 737 yds in 2021 at Idaho. Traynor was named to HERO Sports’ All-American Sophomore team. His offers out of HS included Kentucky & Purdue. The 5th year WR will compete for a starting spot.

Gage Larvadain, a Miami OH WR in the transfer portal has been offered by @CoachJonSumrall . Sumrall has made it clear that recruiting the boot is critical. Larvadain led the MAC in receiving yards per game and was 2nd in receiving TDs. He was the 2020 POY in the NOLA metro area.

3🌟 OL Jayce Mitchell has signed with Tulane, following his decommitment from Cincinnati yesterday. The Greater New Orleans area native is a top 30 recruit in Louisiana, according to ESPN’s rankings. His other offers included Georgia Tech, Cal, Memphis, and UTSA.

I often announce commitments, but this one is most special. Brandon Popper has committed to Elon! @Brandonpopper23 chose the Phoenix over 8 other schools, including Syracuse Newhouse, Hofstra, & COC. He is a projected starter on the 🎙️ as a freshman. Very proud of my brother!

Tulane’s Jon Sumrall explains how there was no shortage of QBs that wanted to join Tulane. He fielded calls from types of players that would not previously answer calls from the Green Wave staff. He also raves about Ty Thompson, as well as his main competition in Kai Horton.

I think that the AP Poll voters need to consider more than just wins and losses. Tulane was a questionable call and 2-point conversion away from beating Kansas State, who moved up to #14 , and don’t get a single Top 25 vote. They won week 1 52-0 and were 23-5 between 2022 & 2023.
