Thanks for having me
@CAFCofficial
, looking forward to seeing my interview about
#TheYearOfTheRobin
in the coming weeks.
(And of course you can pre-order here: )
Not wanting to shit on anyone's picnic, but I think clapping for the NHS is a bit fucking redundant if you're also going to continue voting for a party that's consistently underfunded it for the last decade. Show your appreciation with your ballot box, next time.
If you're going into a Taylor Swift themed children's dance and yoga event with a knife, it's a very specific demographic you're targeting. We really need to think about how we define "terror" in this country.
To the angry men shouting at me, for the avoidance of doubt, I absolutely think you should appreciate the NHS, and by all means give it's staff a clap - they deserve it. Just understand it will take more than applause to keep our excellent health service going.
The Clarkson thing mostly bothers me because that is what we secretly fear - that there are men we know/are familiar with, who want to do awful, violent, humiliating things to us for no fucking reason. And the headlines show us this is true every single week.
While we're here, some other ways you might like to show your appreciation as well as clapping and paying your taxes:
Give Blood
Be kind to NHS staff
STAY AT HOME
Ian Wright talking a lot of sense - it's not easy to get to WSL matches. And it needs to be easier if we're going to capitalise on this. "Women can't fill stadiums" argument underpins gross underinvestment in women's sport. We can! We did! Let us do it more!

I've turned off notifications from people I don't know now, because I'm 6 months pregnant and kind of bored of Angry McAgro & co's aggressively hot takes on what a twat I am, but now kind of enjoying the idea of their puce faces screaming into the digital silence.
Ticketmaster just put me in a queue TO VIEW ITS WEBSITE, and at that point, I'm just like, I actually don't want to see Oasis enough to withstand this abuse.
Worth saying, because the mute button is doing a lot of heavy lifting this morning, we do not have the full facts, and this person does not have to be an incel for it to be clear that VAWG has become completely normalised in our society.
I cannot believe the BBC would publish this absolute pile of wank. How *anyone* could deduce this much from 5 seconds of footage with no audio is beyond me - Witchell is off his fucking rocker.
@Fern_McGovern
@jeeakl
It *is* political, Fern. In case you hadn't noticed it's being used by a political party to deflect from their poor treatment of NHS workers. Claps are lovely - adequate protection of their lives is better. Have a lovely day.
Lyra Ifede born 5.02PM yesterday after a gentle 36 or so hours of labour and weighing a hearty 8lbs 10oz. She is a warrior queen (like her mum, obvs), and worth having a bit of a broken vag for ❤
Thanks to all of the wonderful staff at
@huhmaternity
for looking after us so well
A year ago today, I gave birth to this excellent little human. In many ways, it has been an absolute arsehole of a year, but she's really fucking cute, right? Happy birthday, Super Squeaks, you are, indeed, the best ❤
Say what you like, but "Apocalypse Cow" is a fucking wonderful name for a documentary about the impact of the meat and dairy industry on the environment.
YES Ireland! A little glimmer of hope for us all in an increasingly shitty landscape for women. Massive, massive props to those who campaigned their arses off for this victory

Gary Lineker aside, can we agree on the principle that it isn't *ideal* if you're responsible for taxation policy and your wife is benefiting from a tax saving scheme? In the same way that it doesn't look *great* if you tell people not to go out then throw a party in your garden.
Spoke to the man, the myth, the legend, the enigma, wrapped in a mystery, hidden behind the face of Sam Allardyce chomping on a Fray Bentos pie, Chris Spencer aka
@Coldwar_Steve
, and a top chap he is, too.
Another day, another manterview and this time
@inspireajen
is chatting to Chris Spencer, the man behind
@Coldwar_Steve
, about how Phil Mitchell became the face of Britain's political hellscapes.
Whatever Cummings says now, it's too late. Any apology at this is because it's been forced, so completely disingenuous. If we're spun a brand new, more sympathetic yarn, doesn't matter - Cabinet already backed him on the basis of one rule for them and another for us.
Are you actually shitting me??? Are we now expected to make up OUR ENTIRE BODIES? Literally go fuck yourself. In the eye or ear hole. I perish the thought of the teenagers following and influenced by this unholy shite.
I hope every single creep who has ever done this (because there will be a lot of these creeps, quietly doing their worst) shit their pants today. We're coming for you, dickheads.
It's funny how many people, who apparently know fuck all about women's football, want to have an opinion on how unqualified Alex Scott is to have an opinion on men's football.
We have bubbled with my mum for a few days for while I finish off a project. We've not seen her for six months. I'm working in the kitchen/watching football, but very distracted by listening to her and the baby chatting and laughing in the other room. It's properly lovely stuff.
Funny how a bunch of men have used misogyny against Raducanu as an excuse to direct further misogyny at Judy Murray. It's almost as if it's just any opportunity to be big ol' misogynists.
If you're getting your knickers in a twist about an advert, simply because it reminds you not to be a c**t to 50% of the population, you probably need to have a word with yourself.
@StJeimuzu
@inspireajen
the demographic group ‘women’ is highly politicised. this stabbing was Femicide. misogyny is v political. but it’s so ingrained in our culture no one even thinks it is that.
From
@BBCNews
"UK artist
@Coldwar_Steve
has revealed he had to fight for the inclusion of Bungle, Cilla Black and Phil Mitchell in his artwork for Time magazine."
I cried.
Here is a thing I wrote for
@HuffPostUK
about being bereaved by suicide, why words matter, and why we all need to behave more responsibly when it comes to using and consuming the media.
Obviously, demand is very high, but Ticketmaster literally has one job, and its consistent inability to fulfill it with any competence implies a level of disdain for fans/paying customers that I'm just not into.
Look, I realise there is a limit to how much anyone else cares about this, but I made a shirt and I'm quite proud of it.
(More of this and a very confused curation of interests on Instagram where I am Jennoff)
Here are some things that men need to know. 1. There are women in your life who have experienced violence, assault or rape who haven't told you about it, because they don't want you to feel bad.
Back at the bookshop in Euston Station, and obviously I would say this, because my book isn't on the shelf, but I'm still absolutely gobsmacked by how obviously "MASCULINE" and utterly uninspiring the sport section is.
Wonder if Cameron ever looks at footage of people dragging effigies of Sadiq Khan & Theresa May around by their necks and thinks “hmm maybe I do regret calling the referendum a bit”
I know she's an actor and all that, but she's a VERY good speaker. White people, genuinely distressed by world events and want to make a tangible difference? Stop buying/clicking on the filthy hate-spreading rags which bullied her out of the country. That's one very small thing.
It's beyond my comprehension that you can buy bottled pancake batter. Sorry guys, but the way I see it, if you can't make pancake batter, you don't even deserve to eat pancakes.
Conservative MP Robert Courts says he thinks Dominic Cummings' actions were reasonable "when I look at the explanation that's been given"
"When you look at the regulations as they were, the question you have to decide is whether he had a reasonable excuse"
Do pregnant immigrant women count? How about poor pregnant women? Pregnant women on benefits? Single mothers looking after their first babies? Should we be kind to them? Can someone tell the Mail and - sorry this is awkward - the Government?
Would just like to remind everyone that this is
@carriesymonds
first baby, regardless of anything else. Let's be kind to the pregnant lady, shall we?
#borisbaby
If you are finding yourself at pains to point out, in this moment, that
#NotAllMen
hurt women, then you are literally hurting women right now, just by tweeting about it. Read the news, have some decorum, and grow the fuck up.
Happy
#InternationalWomensDay
this seems like a good point to suggest that we stop buying newspapers and magazines that use their platform to tear women down.
It makes me very angry to hear the Prime Minister telling us that NHS mental health services are still here for us, given the woeful lack of mental health services which were available in the first place.
Happy second birthday to this excellent little Squeak, who is having to accept a book dedication and last season's
@CAFCofficial
kit as her presents, because we've all got Covid and everything is fucked. She looks pretty chuffed about it, though.
Lads, I am UNBELIEVABLY CHUFFED that I have been shortlisted for the brand new Vikki Orvice Award for New Women's Sports Writing in this year's Sunday Times Sports Book Awards. A HUGE thank you to
@iconbooks
and
@LLMonts
for championing diverse sports writing.
Don't want to wang on about how awful the men's game is, i like it and often think the narrative around it is lazy AF, but travelling across London last night, I didn't encounter any pissed up bellends on the train, or any other beef. Unthinkable if it were England men's team.
Happy
#InternationalWomensDay
to all the excellent women of the world. We are already fucking killing it, so imagine what we could achieve if we had equal pay, decent affordable childcare, and a legal system that actually criminalised men who commit acts of violence against us.
This is grade A (pls excuse the pun) gaslighting. Our energy bills are cripplingly high because your government has failed to make meaningful progress in sustainable energy, allowed energy companies to keep profits during this crisis, and fundamentally mismanaged the economy.
Just sang Perfect Day to my daughter in the many voices of the excellent BBC advert version from the 90s. When I got to the climactic Heather Small/Tom Jones ending, she started growling at me 😂
Tomorrow would be my bro's 41st birthday. It's always a bit of a dogshit time of year, but the last couple of weeks have been particularly heavy going. Be kind, innit.
Please PLEASE for the love of fuck let this be the beginning of the end of it. Your number is up
@BorisJohnson
and the rest of your cabinet, the tide is turning.
Well thank fuck for that. Feel a lot better about 60,000 dead, second wave imminent and Dominic Cummings' eyesight now I can watch horses racing again.
